Faux Capiz Shell Flowers
Hi crafters! Want to make some flowers that have the delicate look of capiz shell? Today's video will show you just how to do it. It is so very easy too!
The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9" in size. All for now, Sue x
Morning Sue. This is another beautiful card. The flower's are stunning, very delicate and loving the hint of colour to them. Another must try for my stash box. Thank's for another great video with all of your help and insperstion. Take care everyone and hoping the weather is kind to you all. Best Wishes. Denise T x
Good morning Sue and everyone I have no idea what capiz shell is but can only imagine its very pretty if its like these lovely flowers. Have a a great day. Ang x
Just love the card and I think vellum flowers are very effective. The video shows it is not too difficult to achieve. Brilliant thanks Sue. I will certainly have a go at this. Jxxx
So pretty, Sue, love the use of the corners and the central element is gorgeous with the embossed inner. Lovely lovely flowers and nice to see some stick pins again! Thanks for another very instructive video.
Morning Sue What a stunning gift for this morning. I really don't think for purity you can do anything but use white on white. It's always so gentle and fresh and just right for those very special occasions. Your format today is so simple but oh so beautiful just the base to highlight your fantastic flowers and just as a 'finishing touch' two of your beautiful stick pins. Who could really ask for more. Not me. I just love everything you have done today.
Hope everyone is managing with the heat wherever you are. To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. Please remember to drink lots of water. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow. Janet x
Good morning Sue from a very grey and miserable Lancashire, but as usual your video and pretty little card has brightened the morning. Ive tried many a time to use velum to make delicate flower's from your dies, but due to the lack of feeling and sensation in my two index finger's plus being shorter than any 'normal' crafter lol I cannot feel the delicate velum enough to be able to hold it or fold it into little flower buds, Ive tried and tried, but decided I was wasting too much velum, plus my frustration level's were rising, I decided it probably wasn't a good idea to persevere any longer, accepted defeit and carried on using my card, but Id still love to be able to make velum buds. You have given us yet another informative tutorial and beautiful card for that I thank you. Sending friendly and appreciative hugs to you this Tuesday. Thinking of Tina today. And love to my two dear friends. Lancashire Steph xxx
Good morning Sue today's card is gorgeous. I can't wait to see how you created the beautiful flowers it will be my treat after work. Have a great day today. Hugs Jackie
Good morning Sue, a beautiful, stunning card to brighten my day. I just LOVE those pretty flowers Oooo!! I feel another purchase coming on!!! I am rather sad, I have had to "step back" from my Blog. You know I love my Blog. Someone has taken a statement I made on Sunday about a very "sad" situation. They used it a against a dear, sweet friend to cause hurt and trouble. Oh! well life goes on, I will "dust myself down" I will be back but I need time to get my head round the situation. Off to watch and learn Have a great day Hugs Patricia xx
Good morning Sue. A great video tutorial and stunning card. I've never used vellum for my flowers but will have a go now having seen this tutorial, they look so effective. Thank you.x
Hi Sue What an exquisitely delicate card. Everything about it is perfect. I don't think to make flowers with vellum and I have a huge stash. So guess what I'm going to be doing next time I have a crafty session. Cuppa and video later - heaven. Have a lovely day everyone. Crafty hugs Yvonne x
Good morning Sue, I just want to send the sentiment back to you!!! Oh my goodness!!! I love parchment it's one of my favourite mediums to use its so delicate!!! Watched the video thankyou for sharing!!! Patricia keep your chin up!!! I came off face book for the very same reason about 4 or 5 years ago!!! Why do people have to be so mean? It's beyond me!!! It's much nicer to be kind than mean!!!( Sorry I will get off my soap box) Please have a good one everyone!!! Loopy Lynda xxx
Hi Sue, Pretty and delicate card today, and the flowers are gorgeous.
So sorry Patricia to hear that you are sad, people can be very cruel and especially when it is to someone you care about. I used to read your blog everyday but somewhere along the way I lost your blog name and haven't seen it for quite sometime....would love to be able to get it back again. Love Janet x from Wakefield
Hi Sue and all Love this card and the vellum flowers. As usual your video shows how make them so well. This is one of my new dies so I must search out the vellum and try some Muriel x
Hi Sue, Absolutely fantastic!! Card is stunning and the video is superb!! It makes such a difference being able to watch you doing the flowers. Lorna D

Ps Tilly has been attacking the roses in the garden so it looks like I'll be there replanting in the rain so hubby will not know the little b has been busy. It's a shame she doesn't like planting it would mean if she digs them up at least she could put them back!!!!!
Such a dainty and feminine offering today, love it and as it's a rainy day here I shall have to abandon my gardening plans and just stay in and make some of those capiz shell flowers, they're so gorgeous...
Hello Sue I watched the Video first today, and thank you so much for showing the lovely flowers! My Arthritis is taking hold, and my once nimble fingers are now turning into sausages! But not to be beaten....... I will persevere and make those flowers! Lovely card Sue! Just read your blog Patricia, so sorry for the upset! Take care Love Marg
Good morning Sue Guess what I'm doing today? ............ Making vellum flowers lol. I love the look of these they are stunning. Your video makes it easy for us to try thank you! The vintage silver card has just the right finish not too bright and shows off the flowers perfectly. Hugs x Heather T
Morning Sue, This is gorgeous, thank you for the tips with the flowers and silver on the edges, they look stunning, I will be trying these flowers with vellum. Lots of love from Patricia xx
Good Morning Sue, what a beautiful card and I love your little flowers they are so pretty. I hope you are keeping well and Im of to watch your video. hugs Shirleyxxxxxx
Hi Sue, It is so very, very lovely. When I first saw the video, I hadn't gotten the camellias as they were sold out everywhere, but now that I have them, will try and do that look. I'm just not good at the buds, so they'll be slightly modified. Can't wait to get started - after the male card. You do amazing things with the corners, the whole card is absolutely beautiful. Hugs, Rose
Hi Sue, Wow! I really love this delicate card and the extremely pretty flowers! Vellum is something I completely forget to use! However these little flowers are just gorgeous and I will be having a go very soon. Marg - I like your style - keep persevering! Hope you mange to make some lovely flowers. Patricia - it's a sad day when things like this happen. I had heard of it before on Facebook so didn't get involved with that but I thought craft blogs were pretty safe! I , too, will miss your lovely flowers and boxes in particular. Keep smiling , you didn't deserve this! Hugs xx Maureen - special hugs for you too! Xxx Sue - special hugs for a talented kind lady who brought us all together . Thank you xx Have a good , all friends on the blog. Love Myra xxx
A beautiful card with lots of techniques. I especially love the idea of using the corners as a centre piece and of course the flowers are brilliant. Thank you Sue.Xx
Morning Sue, Another beautiful card to brighten up a rather dull morning. I must admit that those corner dies didn't do it for me at first, but seeing the way that you have used them on many of your cards, they have definitely grown on me. Off to make a coffee and then sit down to watch the video. I love your video tutorials. Hugs xx Pauline A
Morning Sue. This is a beautiful card. I have just recently bought vellum as I've never used it before so this is fantastic to try these flowers. Thank you for sharing. Hugs Heather.x
Hi Sue Such beautiful delicate flowers, love the card and as always thanks for another great video Patricia, how awful that someone can force you away from doing something you love, keep smiling and come back, your blog is great
This card is so delicate, so pretty and the flowers are lovely. Off to get the usual cuppa so I can watch the video in comfort! :) Paula x (WelshPaula)
Another cloudy, drizzly day in Stirling so demo day has really lifted me out of the doldrums. This is classic Sue at her best, I love the delicate sophistication of this design, it would make a lovely wedding card. How nice to see the reappearance of the stick pins, I have missed them, they really elevate a card beautifully. I have done flower buds with card but have never attempted velum, it looks so delicate and fiddle but worth the effort. Keep persevering Marg, it is very satisfying making a flower from scratch. Have a super busy day today, a caci facial and some retail therapy thrown in so I will enjoy the video a little later on I think . Lynda, sorry to hear about Cullys tail, hope it goes well at the vets-our babies can be a constant source of worry at times, so hugs from Brodie and Darceyxxxxx Patricia, don't let an unkind rogue minority stop you doing what you love because then they win! Chin up honey!
been trying to email you from the address in the sidebar boot my email bounces back saying there's something wrong with the address?? is there a dot missing?
Hi Sue. Good to bump into you at CE yesterday. Another lovely card with a very different design. As a parchment crafter I had wondered about using my parchment with some of your dies and you have come up with a terrific idea with the use of the camellia dies. Thank you for that. Now to go and have a go!!!!
I really like the effect you have with the Ornamental Corners in the centre of your background. The hint of colour is so delicate and I love your shell flowers, they are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Hi a sue, Gorgeous card and really love the faux capiz flowers, they look so delicate. The video is really clear as well so thank you for that. I really capiz shell - I used to have some light shades made from it and loved how they looked when the lights were on. Patricia sorry to hear about your blog. There are some very cruel and spiteful people in this world who don't realise the affect their comments have on people. This is one of the reasons that I don't do Facebook. Lynne sorry that Cully's tail hasn't healed completely , hope the vet can do something. Sending love and hugs to all, Alison xxxx
Hi Sue, a beautiful card and the flowers are gorgeous, they really look translucent. I'm not sure that I have either the patience or the fingers for making these flowers but following the very clear video I may be brave enough to give it a go. If it doesn't work out, well, it is only a piece of paper and some glue :-)
Patricia - sorry to hear about your blog, there are some very nasty people out there with nothing better to do with their time than upset nice people.
Lynne - sorry Cully's tail is not improving as quickly as hoped. I hope the vets can help her. Frances
To My Very Dear Friend Sue, I'm A Little Late This Morning As I Had Tasks To Do! Hi Sue and everyone. Wonderful card, love the flowers. Will look at the tutorial later but just want to thank you for making them, they are very well appreciated.
I'm feeling very sad today for what happened on some blogs lately. We are all cardmakers and crafters so it is no need for this! Taking sides and diggs do not belong in the crafting world ! I will miss your blog Patricia with your fabulous boxes, flowers and cards and hope you be back soon.
Maureen- you and your family are in my thoughts,
Lynne M-bless her Cully with her still poorly tale, hope the vet can help. Oh ,Tilly she is so naughty big cuddles to them both and to all dogs, cats and ok Freddy too.
To All Wilsonette's And Friends! if in pain, feeling blue or anything else I'm sending hugs to one and all, Maria x
Hi Sue Another stunner today. I love the flowers and look forward to seeing the video later. I'm off to Harwich today, that's if Pete ever gets out of the garden. He's decided to prick out his Broccoli. Supposed to be leaving at 1.00, just slightly late but nothing new there.
Patricia, I have just read your post. I am so sorry that you have been upset. Although I have never seen your blog (wish I could) of all the time I have read your posts on this blog I do not believe for one minute that you could ever upset anyone. P,ease be brave and strong, don't let spiteful people stop you. Your Wilsonettes friends are all behind you.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video on how to make the flowers, they are so good made with vellum. I keep forgetting to make more use of my corner dies but next time I make a card I'll be using your technique. The full Camellia die makes gorgeous flowers. The dies you used today helped make a gorgeous card. I love it.
Hi Sue What a beautiful card again today, love how you have used the corners and the vellum flowers are just amazing, must give them a go! Thank you so much for sharing Love Diane G xxx Lynne I hope Cullys tail gets better soon and you get your roses planted again- what little pickles those girls are xxx Patricia I'm so sorry to hear about your lovely blog. Sending you a big hug xxx
Your card is lovely. The video was great too. The flowers look amazing in vellum and I think the triple bow in thin ribbon is much more interesting than a great big blousy one. Good tip with the hair straighteners, but I don't use them - my hair is as straight as a poker!!!!!!
Patricia - so sorry about the upset, try not to dwell on it. Hugs and sympathy to Maureen, a shock for you all on what should have been a lovely day (except the weather). Pam - just click on Patricia's name or photo and you'll have an entry to her blog. So so easy, all the techno savvies will undoubtedly know this and laugh, but the rest of us sometimes just stumble on things by (happy) accident.
Good Afternoon Sue & Wilsonettes Gorgeous card today & your video showing those beautiful velum flowers thank you for showing how to achieve the bud for the Middle of the flower,& how you just colour the petals. I love it all Thak you so much Sue. Love & Hug's Lynda Brock xx

Hi Sue, I always love the flowers you make for your cards and these are extra special. I do parchment work so will be able to try these out. Hang in there Patricia with all your friends here you'll have more for you than agin' you and we are all thinking of you. Face book is something I only use to keep up with what my girls are doing but I've heard lots of horror stories about it.
Cuddles for Cully and Tilly, and also Lauren - hope she is well now.
Has anyone worked out why time passes more quickly the older you get, especially when you want to craft and oh no! it's dinner time already?? And why did days seem so long when we were at school. July already - oh for goodness sake no.
Good evening Sue What a beautiful, beautiful card and a very clear and informative video. I must dig out my vellum and give it I go. Wish my nails looked like yours though lol. Yet again you demonstrated just how versatile your dies really are. Thank you once again for your inspiration.
Patricia, the person who has done this to you and someone you care about has denied a lot of people the pleasure of seeing your creations and hurt you in the process. I hope they hang there head in shame. Please don't let them upset you anymore, take your time and recover. And as so many here have said we are here and supporting you. Biggest hugs xxxxx
Sue you amaze me at how you cut up die cuts to create different shapes, must give it a try and see what becomes of them...I love this card, one of your more simple ones, but oh so stunning....luv Ursula xx
Beautiful card Sue,the flowers are delicate. Thanks for lovely video! Patricia, hope you come back stronger! Why are some people so hurtful I'll never know! CaroleB xx
Hello Sue, Thank you for a brilliant and very informative video. It is such a delight to watch you making your beautiful creations. LOL
This is such a beautiful card and your vellum flowers are absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you as always you are my true inspiration. Hope you've had a good day, love Brenda xxx
Patricia I was so sad for you, feeling you cannot carry on with your blog at present. It's very sad when people cause hurt and distress to others. I just hope they can live with their actions
Hi Sue, wonderful tutorial today, and superb flowers. Superb design of your card to house those very delicate and wonderful flowers. Thank you for sharing. Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Hi Sue. Ooooh this is such a beautiful card !! Very delicate and elegant looking. I really love this card !! Such a fab use of your Ornamental corner dies !! Your Greek Dies are beautiful to and are perfect for your lovely sentiment. I love your vellum flowers Sue. They are so very beautiful. I really must have a go at making some of them. I think they are very pretty. Also I see you have used some stick pins !! Yaay !! They are lovey and a perfect match for your card. Thank you for sharing this Wonderful card and fab video today. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x
Patricia, I am so sorry someone has said horrible things that have upset you about your blog. Please don't stop doing your blog. I am one of those people that look at your blog often. I love the cards, boxes and flowers that you make. You are a fab crafter !! Stay strong and just ignore them. They are obviously jealous as they don't have the talent that you do !! Sending you lots of love and hugs and "keep crafting" !! Love from Tres x x x
Lynne, I am sorry to hear about Cully's sore tail. I hope it all gets sorted out soon. My cat had a bad cut on his tail once and I was worried that the vet was going to say he would have to loose some of it but it finally healed very well. You would never have guessed he came so close to looking it !! Sending you lots of love from Tres x x x Lots of love to the Wonderful Wilsonettes today love from Tres x x x
Hi Sue and lovely Wilsonettes, What a stunning card today, had to google Capiz Shell but now I get what you mean and the flowers really do look like shell, they're beautiful. This card is very elegant and would be great for weddings. Still not had time to watch video, looking after the men tonight has taken all my time so just posting this before bed. I will watch tomorrow, hubby off to France for a few days with work so I'll be able to get on the pc and it's my day off tomorrow. Got some friends coming round that want help making a scrapbook, just hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Patricia, I feel so sad for you, that you've been stopped from doing something you love and I really hope things sort themselves out for you. I had a bad experience a few years ago and I have stayed away from any social media ever since so I can understand in a way how you feel. I still won't go on facebook, though I have recently got on this blog and pinterest but they are the only things I do now and I'm still very wary. I hope it doesn't put you off. I can't understand some people and I hope this experience doesn't linger with you and you get your joy back really soon Maureen I was so sorry to hear about your brother, it must have been a terrible shock for you, sending love and prayers. Lynne I hope the vet can fix Cully's tail. Night God bless to all, love Deb C xx
Hello Sue. This is such a beautiful card and I absolutely love those flowers. I, like everyone here who regularly visits and admires what you do, cannot believe the cruelty of some people. The world of blogging does make one vulnerable and I suppose that occasionally trouble arises that can take your breath away. Keep strong blogging friends and don't let these disturbed people win. It's a lone voice amongst so much kindness. xx Maggie (better without a bow)
Such a pretty card. Love the flowers. Haven't commented for a few days as my phone has been playing up. I could see the beautiful cards but couldn't get past the robot catcher! So frustrating. I'm happy to be able to use my laptop and broadband for a couple of days as I've got a lot of catching up to do. Congratulations to all the lucky winners last weekend. Good wishes to Patricia and your friend. I don't follow your blog but I hope you return to it soon. Take care everyone.
Hi Sue I haven't had chance to watch the video but I will watch it whilst I have my lunch, but I love the card. Didn't see your blog yesterdsy, so like Jan appologies for the late posting Margaret xxx
Hellooooooooooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh wow, what an awesome video showing how to do this stunning card! I love how you've done those beautiful flowers with velum. It looks and probably is, fiddly, but what a fantastic flower at the end of it xx Love how you've done the corners and around the centre piece/sentiment too. Stunning! "Thank you Sue" for all you do. Sending you, your mom and family love and hugs. Sending them too to our Wilsonettes who are in need xx A bit late here to.....love Karen xx
So sorry to hear about your friend Patricia. Unfortunately there are some people out there who love to bring other people down and use things said to upset them. Unfortunately for them, the one's who enjoy seeing someone's talent or sympathise with others, outnumber them, by far! If they can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. I for one, appreciate all these tips and techniques that are left for us to see. I also think it's lovely to be able to "talk" to others when you're feeling low or going through a situation. A trouble shared as they say xx Don't give up Patricia and sending love and hugs to you and your friend xx Love Karen xx
Theresa says I love your card today sue x the flowers look so delicate and pretty x will watch the video soon I'm playing catch up at the mo !!! Theresa w xxx

Ps Tilly has been attacking the roses in the garden so it looks like I'll be there replanting in the rain so hubby will not know the little b has been busy. It's a shame she doesn't like planting it would mean if she digs them up at least she could put them back!!!!!
After months of saying I must get the Camellia dies I now have them so will definitely have a go at these delightful flowers. A beautiful card, Sue.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteIt is so very, very lovely.
Hugs, Rose
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWow!
Hugs xx
Maureen - special hugs for you too! Xxx
Sue - special hugs for a talented kind lady who brought us all together . Thank you xx

A beautiful card with lots of techniques. I especially love the idea of using the corners as a centre piece and of course the flowers are brilliant. Thank you Sue.Xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, Another beautiful card to brighten up a rather dull morning. I must admit that those corner dies didn't do it for me at first, but seeing the way that you have used them on many of your cards, they have definitely grown on me. Off to make a coffee and then sit down to watch the video. I love your video tutorials. Hugs xx Pauline A

ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue and lovely Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteAnother cloudy, drizzly day in Stirling so demo day has really lifted me out of the doldrums.
Lynda, sorry to hear about Cullys tail, hope it goes well at the vets-our babies can be a constant source of worry at times, so hugs from Brodie and Darceyxxxxx
Patricia, don't let an unkind rogue minority stop you doing what you love because then they win! Chin up honey!

ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Good to bump into you at CE yesterday. Another lovely card with a very different design. As a parchment crafter I had wondered about using my parchment with some of your dies and you have come up with a terrific idea with the use of the camellia dies. Thank you for that. Now to go and have a go!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Sue and all.
ReplyDeleteI really like the effect you have with the Ornamental Corners in the centre of your background. The hint of colour is so delicate and I love your shell flowers, they are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes.
Both elegant and beautiful Sue.

Hi a sue,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card and really love the faux capiz flowers, they look so delicate.
Hi sue.
ReplyDeleteLoving this card today sue. :-).
Loving those flowers. Have the die so will look forward to watching the video xx
Hi sue, This is so beautiful, I love this one a lot, crafty hugs Julie xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, a beautiful card and the flowers are gorgeous, they really look translucent. I'm not sure that I have either the patience or the fingers for making these flowers but following the very clear video I may be brave enough to give it a go. If it doesn't work out, well, it is only a piece of paper and some glue :-)
ReplyDeletePatricia - sorry to hear about your blog, there are some very nasty people out there with nothing better to do with their time than upset nice people.
Lynne - sorry Cully's tail is not improving as quickly as hoped. I hope the vets can help her.

ReplyDeleteAnother stunner today.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed your video on how to make the flowers, they are so good made with vellum. I keep forgetting to make more use of my corner dies but next time I make a card I'll be using your technique. The full Camellia die makes gorgeous flowers. The dies you used today helped make a gorgeous card. I love it.
Kind regards

Your card is lovely. The video was great too. The flowers look amazing in vellum and I think the triple bow in thin ribbon is much more interesting than a great big blousy one. Good tip with the hair straighteners, but I don't use them - my hair is as straight as a poker!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really beautiful delicate card, love the flowers made from vellum. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Good evening Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, beautiful card and a very clear and informative video.

Hi Sue and lovely Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card today, had to google Capiz Shell but now I get what you mean and the flowers really do look like shell, they're beautiful.
I can't understand some people and I hope this experience doesn't linger with you and you get your joy back really soon
Maureen I was so sorry to hear about your brother, it must have been a terrible shock for you, sending love and prayers.
Lynne I hope the vet can fix Cully's tail.
Night God bless to all, love Deb C xx
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLovely.
Shirley T.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card. Love the flowers.
ReplyDeleteHaven't commented for a few days as my phone has been playing up.

ReplyDeleteHellooooooooooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend Patricia.
