Hi my crafty friends! I was sure that I had posted this one, but after some exhausted searching, I have concluded that it must just be my imagination! Surprise, a buckle card! I started by gilding my background. To do this I used the Moroccan mask and taped the edges of it so it was squared up over a piece of coconut white card. Using the Flake and Glitter Glue on a piece of cut 'n dry foam, I dabbed it all over though my mask. You must work quickly when you do this and when you are happy that you have covered all the spots, peel your mask up and wash it off! The glue will not dry while you are doing this, but it will make your mask too sticky to use again if you don't wash it off promptly. Next I used the Sunlight Speckle gilding flakes and scattered them all over my background. Using a stiff brush, I worked them into the glue areas. You just need to keep brushing into all areas are covered and you will start to see the flakes come away from any areas without the glue. You can return these to the container for a later use, no waste. You can also use a piece of Rubit Scrubit pad to do this with if you prefer. Next I cut the largest two sizes in the Stately Circles set together so I ended up with a frame from it. I glued a piece of soft gold card to the back of the circle frame and trimmed away any excess that showed through my decorative edge. I used two of the smaller sizes of the circle set to cut two more smaller frames. I stamped my sentiment on a strip of coconut white using a clear perfect medium so I was able too emboss it in gold embossing powder. I added a mat of soft gold card and cut forks into both ends. Using this strip and my circle frames, I was able to weave it through the openings to create my buckle focal element. I ran a piece of tape across the back of the strip and then added mounting foam for dimension. I mounted this in the centre of my gilded background. I matted the piece with soft gold, then added it to a larger piece of coconut white that I pierced around the edges on. The bottom area was just large enough for a bow using the gold/silver reversible ribbon and a pearl embellishment and stick pins. I added three flatback white pearls to either side of my bow and to the corners on my focal element as accents to finish the card. Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size. All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card for a wife to give her husband for their silver or golden wedding. A) because of the gold and silver flake background and B) because they normally can't remember if it is one or the other so they are covering both bases.
All kidding aside it is a beautiful card which a man could like because it is not over the top girlie, or a woman that is it not all feathers and flounce type.
Have a good day and hope the sun is shining down your way,
Love and crafty hugs

This is a stunning card Sue. I love the background using the gilding flakes. I will have to try this, my problem is I buy all these wonderful items and then don't want to use them up lol! Silly I know as then my stack piles up and the beauty is not seen!!! I use them sparingly so not to waste which is silly as I know gilding flakes use very little to create such beauty, I will have to shake myself into using them more.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Sue, not as complex as some you do, other than managing to get the gilding done before it dries... my luck the glue would dry on the paper before I could get the flakes on!!!!!
