So Many Hearts

Morning guys!  Do you ever start something and then half way through, think, why did I do this?  Perfect example is this card!  I knew that I wanted to create a sort of petticoat border on each side of the card which gave me bunches of tiny fall out hearts.  Then I thought how cute would it be to have a heart out of the hearts in the centre, follow me?  I got up to about the fifth row (after about half an hour!) and thought, WHAT was I thinking! LOL   You know the story, though, you are already too  committed because you have already gone so far, you might as well finish, right!  So I feel the memory of that (long) day when I look at this card.  It is quite pretty in real life, I think.  I was rather happy with it when finished, but boy oh boy, I never thought I would get there!  I used the Grateful Lattice and cut it in white to go on my coconut white card background for a tone on tone look.  Next I cut the borders.  These are the dies from the "On The Edge" die set (I never got around to using any others but the heart).  I started with the pale blush card on the outsides and worked up to deeper shades and then repeated the pattern.  I cut a simple heart from a nestibility set I had with me and then did the same thing with the fall away hearts, working in rows of lighter to darker colours, then repeating it as I worked my way up.  They overlapped slightly so it is hard to tell that they are indeed hearts unless you look at the very bottom single one (sorry it got a bit soiled on it's trip back home from the States).  I had tied a ribbon around the bottom before I attached my borders, then added a messy bow tied from Flesh coloured seam binding.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with one of the tags from the Charmed I'm Sure set and dusted the edges with Victorian Velvet distress ink.   I  tucked the corner of the heart tag under a heart Dazzler on my bow with a bit of pastel Bakers Twine.  I finished the card with a double mat and a pierced layer as usual.  Oh well, I am pretty sure it wasn't great weather that day so what else was there to do that day but glue itty bitty tiny hearts on a larger heart! LOL    Finished dimensions are 6" x 8" in size.
I did post the blog candy winners yesterday afternoon and for some reason, they posted below yesterday's card!  So please scroll down to see if you have won because they have not (as of this typing which was earlier than this will be posted) been claimed.  All for now, Sue x

  140. Hi Sue! Hello everyone! This is lovely Sue and love how you have shaped a heart from the hearts. Just stunning and what a patient lady you are! What with trying to find yesterdays card from long ago and to now, gluing all those little hearts together, you deserve a medal! Loving the Spellbinder shows but having to sit on my hands...still, whey hey, I can use the dies I've got! "Thank you" Sue for your inspiration xx Love Karen xx

  143. Hi Sue,
Quite a different card for you to make. It's lovely, but I don't think I would have the patience to do what you did with all those heart cutouts! TFS

  146. Hi Sue

A very different style today, and a lot of work has gone into it. Not to sure if I would have had the patience to do all that work. A lovely card though. Congrats to the winners.

  161. Great conceptualisation and I live the border dies. Little bit too pink for me though. I love when the eftovers from dies are versatile enough to use as a focal point.
Asusual I bought everything I could yesterday, all the POTD sets some cardstock and the constantly required CS glue LOL!! Can't wait for all of my prezzies to arrive Woo Hoo!!:) :) :)
