My Garden Of Friends
Morning all! More florals today (I am hoping that spring will take the hint! LOL) I started by stamping the French Rose background stamp by JustRite on white card with a black archival ink. I coloured it with a combination of distress markers and pencils. Next I cut several of the Ornate Square die and cut it up so that I could use the pieces to peek out from behind the edge of the background. I glued a piece of vellum over the top of the background to give it a softer, shaded look. I stamped my sentiment on grey card and cut it out with the tag from the Ornate Squares set. I over stamped it in white using the text area of the background stamp. I stamped one of the Ornate Happiness stamps using a clear perfect medium and white embossed it on blush card. I cut it out and mounted it so the corners went through my ornate sentiment tag. I mounted the piece in the upper corner of my background. I matted the entire piece with pink and grey mats to finish my card. Finished dimensions are 6" x 7" in size. All for now, Sue x
GM Sue - tres romantique - like the background stamp - what did you glue the vellum down with? or did you stick it on the reverse side (doesn't look lke it from what I can see in pics)so any glue would not show on the front? I am always hesitant with using vellum because I dont want the glue to show through it. Rgs Clare W
Morning Sue youve done it again what a beautiful card love the idea of putting vellum over the top. I wonder what it would look like covered in micro beads as i put them on nearly everything. But i do like the vellum idea. I now think i will have to put this stamp on my wish list. Looking forward to seeing what youve got for us tomorrow. Take care Sue xxx

Hi Sue This is a beautiful card. I love the effect of the vellum to soften the stamping. The cold this weekend has driven me inside to 'play'! Different ideas again, Sue - the vellum gives a soft and other world-ly look - also would like to see it 'bare'! Like the use of the die to create the border. Very pretty.
Good morning Sue This stamp is so pretty, I love the idea of putting vellum over your stamped image, I too would like to know how you've stuck the vellum on. When I use vellum I usually hide the glue with a topper of some sort or use brads to attach it. The ornate square die looks so different after its been 'Sue'd' lol you always make us think out of the box. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us. Hugs x Heather T

morning Sue I really do like how you have softened the main background with vellum. It gives the card a very etherial and victorian feel. Did you just tag the corners to keep it fixed? I still haven't tried my combination of roses and printed background yet as I don't have these particular dies but must get down to trying them. It's my craft group this afternoon so will see how they have been crafting. Janet x

I really don't like this card Sue and in all the time I have been following your blog that has been the first time I have said that!Maybe it's my computer but the colours just look so dull.Still waiting for this stamp to be delivered ..ordered on24 march fromc&c along with dies and ribbons but so far no dispatch date.Don't know what happens to c&c when its your products Sue they seem to go into meltdown,take care,x.
This card looks very sophisticated. You wouldn't think it did, as it is rather simple to make. But isn't that the case with a lot of cards :) A very good morning to you :)

Hi Sue I'm not sure about this one I'm afraid. I'm not really a big fan of vellum when it's used in this way- I love Pergamano parchment crafting though. I really do like the background stamp though and your colouring as always is gorgeous.

Love this muted card Sue. Vellum looks lovely. Especially with flowers stamped on it and embossed with white embossing powder. Layered up over coloured card.

It seems to be working here in Hertfordshire Beautiful sunshine but I suspect it's cold outside Never used vellum Another addition to my wish list I'm going to see if I can adapt the majestic squares & resplendent rectangles to produce something similar

goodness i lorrrrrrrveeeeeeeeee this card...i do have a few daffys poking their heads up out of the cold soil.....& of course my stacks of hellebores that are a proper delight to behold come springtime.......nice in the pinks as we already have lots of yellows etc with the daffys & crocus.

Well the spring idea doesn't seem to working yet as we still have snow on the ground.. but lets keep up the positive thinking..!!!! Todays card is as always lovely and a great use of the cut up dies.. and some vellum for a change.. xx

Hi Sue...a very different card today, but it works! I love the Ornate Sq Die...will have to get this one...I have the Luna Silver Flakes so thanks for the idea...I hadn't thought of using them on such an intricate die...but will be getting some double sided sticky paper soon.
As usual,perfection!! Its my birthday 2nd april,but had to wait until now to get the new backgrounds and to be grand calibur size,WOW. With all the new spellbinders, i have spent a fortune but you make everything so tempting. Thank you Sue (10th april "13)

ReplyDeleteI love the idea with velum.I never used it before will have a go. But I used greaseproof paper once and effect was very beautiful similar to velum.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, the vellum looks really pretty on the background. We've got blue skies and sunshine here in Liverpool today so hopefully spring will be on the way soon.

It seems to be working here in Hertfordshire Beautiful sunshine but I suspect it's cold outside Never used vellum Another addition to my wish list I'm going to see if I can adapt the majestic squares & resplendent rectangles to produce something similar

Good morning Sue, the snow is slowly melting, so maybe there will be some warm weather to come soon. I'm not as keen on the muted look of this one, though it may be the way it has photographed, I just want to see the background and can't!

goodness i lorrrrrrrveeeeeeeeee this card...i do have a few daffys poking their heads up out of the cold soil.....& of course my stacks of hellebores that are a proper delight to behold come springtime.......nice in the pinks as we already have lots of yellows etc with the daffys & crocus.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card. I never think to cut up diecuts but the ornate square looks great as a background frame. Love the coloured in flower stamps and the vellum over the top really does soften the look.

Hi Sue...a very different card today, but it works! I love the Ornate Sq Die...will have to get this one...I have the Luna Silver Flakes so thanks for the idea...I hadn't thought of using them on such an intricate die...but will be getting some double sided sticky paper soon.
