Hi bloggers! The title of this post is not only the sentiment on my card, but also a reminder to me that I have a few notes to mention too as I have been terribly remiss in not blogging about a few events going on at the moment. I do these posts several days ahead usually so I sometimes forget about things that need to be said on the day. First off and just a note to say that Creative Expressions is having it's first ever design team members blog hop starting today at 10 am. Here is the link for it and all the details http://blog.creative-
Now for the card today. One of the things that I have wanted to do lately on my shows is bring back some of the older dies. There are some really fabulous dies out there that we tend to overlook once we have new ones in our sights. I rarely ever get to go back and use older dies but I have been allowed to add some into the show polls lately. Today's card was the result of that. I started by embossing our peach card using the Garden Lattice embossibility folder for my background. I cut two of the Moroccan borders out of white card and glued them down the sides. For my focal element, I picked the Splendid Circle die and cut two of them in black. I scored across both of them in intervals and cut to the centre. I folded the score lines in concertina fashion to create a half to my rosette with each die piece. I glued them together to form the rosette. I cut one of the smaller circles from the set in white for the centre of the rosette, then cut a Venetian motif in white. I nipped the ends of the Venetian motif and used four of them to hold my sentiment piece which was stamped in black and cut out with the nested medallion die out of peach card. I tied a double bow out of silky crush ribbon and glued one of the new small cameos in the centre as an accent, I matted the piece with a black layer to which I added black PVA glue dots. I finished the piece with a double mat of white card with the inner layer paper pierced to complete the card. Don't forget to use your older die sets, especially too because they will mix and match beautifully with any newer sets you may purchase. Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8" in size. Also, just to a add another little note, yesterday's card with the vellum overlay, many of you had asked how I attached it. I used a small drop of Cosmic Shimmer glue in each corner, then wiped it off with my finger so there was just a bit of it left and then I stuck down the vellum. I had planned on having to hide the glue, but it turns out, it didn't really show so it wasn't a problem! All for now, Sue x
stunning card Sue.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue Another lovely card and I enjoy the colour combo. Appreciate all your updates, I have been very tempted with the melting pot but waiting for your shows next week to spend! Take Care Love Michelle S xxx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, I have sent you an email today so hope you get it ok, I love this card and I love the idea of going back to our other dies which is what I have done on the card I have shown you on email as I added your Vintage Lace borders down the side. Peach is a colour overlooked quite a lot too and its such a soft tone I love it and those cameos are gorgeous, I didn't know CE was doing those too, I so wish they would open a shop on their site, I really do, as it would be my first stop every time I wanted something as I have most of their products but have to search high and low for them all, like I said to you last year is a shame Particraft isn't still going or something similar, i'll have to apply next time they have a DTCall lol...hugs Sue, love Vick xxx

ReplyDeleteWell I have a week off and I was right both sets of the spellbinders that I ordered from C & C have gone astray and so the enjoyment of playing with them while I was off is deferred for another two weeks!! So I for one am very happy to see your card on the blog as I definitely have those dies! LOL!
This is a beautiful card and very sumptuous and elegant.

I've been watching Hels, another very talented lady. However, it was quite easy to resist buying as there is NO MORE ROOM in my craft area.
wow another stunning card. You are right, I sometimes forget to use all my earlier dies too but I also have my favourites that I turn to time and time again. I'll now be trying to mix them all up and see what happens, just because I can Cherylx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Stunning card, the peach goes so well with the black. I love the way you use your dies, cutting and shaping them to change the look. It is still rather cold but we have beautiful sunshine and clear blue sky again today, hopefully Spring is finally here to stay this time! Sorry for those of you still getting snow. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, love this card, as you say it is nice to see the older dies being used. Love the Cameo, in fact I used them yesterday on a card I made for Louise's 40th birthday on the 18th April.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching Hels with the melt pot, I bought one last time she had it on, she makes some fantastic things with it. Love Jean xxx
Morning Sue, A beautiful card, lovely colours and gorgeous rosette and cameo.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching Hels' shows, I ordered a bunch of goodies yesterday morning, and when I got to the confirmation of order, they had taken off 4 things saying 'sold out', so I didn't bother with the other 2 things, I can't understand why they can't take the items offline when they have gone.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Lovely colourway, Sue, and such effective use of the dies. Like the extra dimension (looks like the 'birds nest stadium' on one of the views!)
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched Hels, don't use the stuff I have enough, so absolutely cannot be tempted into lusting after more. Thanks for the encouragement to bring out the older dies again.

ReplyDeleteThe Morocan dies were the first I had as they came with my machine so I have a soft spot for them. I love the colours of today's card and it is a trusted and loved format. I really love the cameos but have not yet managed to buy any. It's a crafting day for me today so Yipeeeeee and household chores can wait another day unless a house elf appears.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the vellum attachment, much appreciated. So nice to see a card using the older dies. Like many others I just can't afford to keep buying all the new sets that are continually being produced as much as I would love to. So once again thank you for your inspiration.

Hi Sue i agree with the others it is nice to see one of the old die's which most of us will have ,you forget about them when all the new stuff comes out and that they cost too much money to be not used.
ReplyDeletecould do with you doing a class just on older die's to remind us what can be done with them.

ReplyDeletereally stunning Sue, nice to see some of the older dies in use
ReplyDeleteStunning card Sue. Colours are great.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see some of the older dies being used. I have been on a big crafty spending spree over the last few months especially when I watch your shows and see the wonderful creations on your blog but have been reminding myself that I have so much stuff already and not enough time to use what I have so I need to slow down and this is a great reminder not to forget that. My goal at the moment is to challeng myself to use every die I have in a different way and see what I can come up with. Your cards always show how you think outside the box and I want to learn how to do that.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, as you said we tend to overlook our older dies once we get our hands on new ones so it's great that you have used the older ones on your stunning creation this morning. Thanks for the update on everything that is going on and I'm so looking forward to the 9th.

Thankyou for all your inspiration you are a star off to play.......

Morning Sue. Great to see some of the older dies being used. I/we tend to get caught up in the excitement of new dies and may forget how flexible and lovely some of the earlier ones are.

Enjoy your day.

Morning Sue, Hope your well. Today's card is just so elegant. I love the lace and the lattice background. The bow with the cameo sets it of a treat, beautiful. I think we sometimes forget about our older dies, so you using them in this card is great. I have been watching C&C, with the melting pot, It looks a great piece of kit. However, I have dexterity problems and I don't think I would be able to use it. Would have to think about that, it does look amazing though!! Crafty hugs Debbie R xx

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are using the older dies on this one. I shall use the splendid circle die as a sort of rosette as you have. Like everyone else I can't afford to buy all the new dies that come out. usually wait until all the demo's are finished to pick out the ones I would use the most.
Good morning Sue, beautiful card nice to see some good old favorites used again. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, gorgeous card, your right with so many new dies always coming out we sometimes forget the gorgeous ones we already have. Emma
ReplyDeleteLove the colourway of this card. Gorgeous! Thanks for your great blog

Morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see the older dies inconjunction with the newer ones as with everything when something new comes along we play witt these toys and forget our old faithfuls.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteYou are quite right when you say we forget about some of our dies when new ones come in and this card shows some of them off beautifully. I have enjoyed watching Hels create all her "bits and bobs" if you pardon the expression. It has been fascinating. Now I'm off around the blog hop!

ReplyDeleteLove the peach card. You are so right Sue, we do tend to replace the old with the new instead of adding them and using them too.
Won't be going to the blog hop as I have no idea what it is. My body may be in the 21st century but I fear my mind isn't!

Morning Sue, Love this card. Great use of older dies. Hugs, Carol S.xx

Hi sue what a lovely card and its great that you've used some of the older dies which do get left to gather dust once we've got newer more elaborate dies and as a couple of bloggers have said they are too expensive to not use. I have watched Hels shows and the melt pot is great bit of equipment and Hels does some wonderful things with it but I'd rather master card making first then get into the altered art thing, maybe next year I will feel brave enough!! Lol love Lesley x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue thanks very much for revisiting some of the older dies, I have the ones you have used so a refresher on them has been great, I love the way you think out of the box. Hugs Liz C x

Hi Sue, another lovely card. I love how you've put pleats in the Splendid Circle, interlocked the sentiment & that cameo is beautiful.I agree that, like Vick has said, peach is such a lovely colour that is overlooked. Hi Sue. I love this colour combo. This is such a pretty card. It is good to be reminded of the dies in the cupboard!! Hugs. Jan.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see the 'old' dies back on your blog. I use them all the time, in fact the Moroccan hooked me on Spellbinders once and for all.
I was lucky enough to have a day with Hels down here in Southampton, where she let us into the world of bees wax and UTEE on canvas. I can see a future certainly with Spellbinder flowers, and who knows what else will soon be in the Melt Pot?
It is all so exciting!
Hugs,
Lis x
Hello Sue, I'm late today, had a day away and enjoyed blue skies and sunshine, think your spring card did the trick lol.
ReplyDeleteNow to the card, stunning, love the colour combo and the rosette is beautiful, must give it a try. As other followers have said it is good to see the older dies get an airing, we do tend to overlook them which is a shame.

Morning Sue, I'm all behind - a week off work for time in my craft room and yesterday just escaped me! I love this card, lovely colours. I picked the right week off as Hels is one of my favourite crafters. I got the melt pot last November and use it all the time..so the extra inspiration has been brilliant..PLUS...my email won on her second show and her lovely piece of art arrived yesterday..beautiful!
