Hi there blog friends! I am not sure what the focal element on this card is, the Persian medallion or the ginormous bow? LOL I did get a little bit carried away with the bow, I know, but I just love this ribbon! I hadn't used the brown and ivory ribbon on any of the samples when I made this card so I picked out some card to match it for my card. I know that the colours don't always show up on the blog as they should be, but it's cream and brown today for this card. I used an embossibility folder on the nude coloured background and lightly sanded it to give it a distressed look. I cut a splendid circle in brown to match my ribbon, then layered up alternating pieces of the circles and the Persian accents and topped it with the smallest of the Persian accents pieces with a pearl to create a medallion type focal element. I stamped my sentiment using a coffee archival pad. Using the tag from the Samantha Walker Antique Frame and Accent set, I cut it out and attached it to my bow with some earthtone Bakers Twine. I used a bit of Tea Dye distress ink to highlight it while it was still in the die template. I used a bit more Bakers Twine through a brown button for my bow centre. I finished the card with some pearl swirls top and bottom for a bit of bling and interest. If you are a "bow person," this may sing to you, if not, I'll try again tomorrow! All for now, Sue x
Good morning Sue. Beautiful card, love the way all the colours go so well together - and that bow - well what can I say. Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteI just love your bows, the bigger the better. What I like about this blog is that you ask for honest opinions and you get them. You take it on the chin and I hope you dont take it personally! Lets face it your cards are out of this world and totally unique. You inspire us all to get out our dies and stamps and have a go.
ReplyDeleteI dont come on this blog for prizes or candy I follow it everyday because I love your cards and all the fab ideas you give us. We are all Sue Wilson fans and its nice to be able to give honest opinions without any of the nastiness you get on some sites.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI think having the positioning of the topper and bow makes this card, wouldn't have created the same effect if just placed centrally up and down.
love from Jackie D
Love the orientation of this card and the elements all tone together so well.
ReplyDeleteColour not good on my screen but I can imagine a lovely brown and gold!!
Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteOh dear yet another card I'll just have to put off doing the housework for while I give it a go. Hi Sue, like CraftygasheadZo I thought of a giant lollipop as soon as I saw it. Sweet themed cards seem to be very much on trend still, but for some reason I find them unsettling. Really like the medallion with the large striped bow though. With Love & Light Theresa. H
ReplyDeleteNice card Sue plenty on it but doesn't appear overfussy.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeletecards are getting bigger, as they need to accommodate all the great bows, they are not cards with bows now, more bows with a card, if you get my meaning.
I think they are wonderful as is your card. The ribbon is really lovely and is on my shopping list.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeletelove your card (nothing new there then as I love ALL your cards) lol. Since watching you on Create & Craft, I have now started to use (my much neglected) distress inks on my Spellbinder's. WOW what a difference, even my Hubby has noticed the difference. Bless him he usually give's a little nod to my card's BUT when I showed him the card that I had used the ink's on, he asked me what I had done differently. He even (slightly) accused me of using the credit card to buy new crafting gear (as he calls it) lol. He was delighted to find that I hadn't spent any money at all. So a BIG THANK YOU from me to you for sharing ALL your wonderful idea's & inspiration.
hugs
Sandra (craftynan)
Absolutely fabulous, Sue! Love, love, love that huge bow!

Loving your card - especially that bow !!!
ReplyDeleteGood evening Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card. I absolutely adore the bows on your cards and the use of ribbons. I have just been stocking up on the vintage ribbons whilst waiting for my Parisian accents to arrive. I am looking forward to my first attempt at using them with the vintage ribbons when I have time at the weekend. Love the blogs and inspirations. Thank you so much. Jacqui, Shropshire
Not sure about the bow, bit too large for me but I love the persian circles and the colours.I have seen the new bling stamps and wonder if you could stamp and put bling over the top either with cosmic glue or real pearls.

ReplyDeleteHi there Sue, it seems ages since I last caught up with your blog- unfortunately I met with a bit of an accident which has left me without the use of my crafting arm! thankfully,it is only temporary. However, my stay in hospital meant I didnt get my "you" fix.
ReplyDeleteA big well done on all your recent creations Sue, and methinks that maybe the bow has the heads up as the focal point on todays card. ;-)) hugs, Theresa.x
love the card and big bow.i reckon if you did that medallion back to back it would make a lovely christmas decoration
ReplyDeleteAngie c
Hi Sue, Those colours are reminding me of the honeycomb chocolate swirl milk shake I had at Crufts - VERY nice! Love the Persians and that little accent centre with the pearl is such a sweetie. I am definitely a bow person and the one on this card deserves its very own fan club - it's a stunner! Sue x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Sue, love love love the bow Helen O xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWho couldn't love choc brown and cream, they are so lovely together.
I am sorry to say, but I join the minority here and have to say I am not a great lover of the oversized bow (which sounds odd coming from me as I really love my bows!).
I have really fallen in love with these Persian dies, they are so lacy. I have been using the ribbon tag die from these sets to make the aperture/window in my new boxes for my Fancy Stick Pins, and it looks really lovely (You'll see..!).
Hope you are all well.
Regards Linda x
I love bows, what a great card, could be quite masculine too, even with a bow.
ReplyDeleteVicki :)

ReplyDeleteDon't think the photo does the card justice today Sue, but love the design and the ribbon is beautiful, I have some not used it yet nice to stroke LOL

Love this! The bow is gorgeous as well as the medallion too!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to be brave enough to put such large bows on cards.
ReplyDeleteLove that stripy ribbon, it deserves to be seen in a ginormous bow like that ;) Also liking the persian accents, reminds me a bit of the snowflake one I bought before - though not sure it layers up like this. Really great card, its great when there are individual parts that can be examined in minute detail as well as having overall impact!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S a BOW! Actually I like it..works with the card and the motif.

Not so hot on the bows but love the swirls! Guess I am a bling sort of girl!
