Christmas Greetings

Hello crafters!  I thought I would share a slimline card today with you.  I started by cutting the Star Bursts Background out of white card to use as the base.  I backed it with white card.  Next I cut the same die three more times.  I cut it out of silver shine, antique gold and gold mirror card.  I saved all the fall away pieces from each cutting and I paper pieced them back into place in the original white die cut.  I used the Slimline Rectangle Frames and made a white frame that I added to the background with mounting foam.  I used the Slimline Essentials die and added a thin frame of Antique Gold on top of the white frame.  I used the Merry Christmas die, but only cut the Christmas part of it.  I used the Greetings from the Christmas Greetings die and put the two together to say Christmas Greetings in black.  I used the Poinsettia Trio and cut two white flowers and leaves.  I glittered the poinsettias with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz and added them in the lower right corner.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5"  x  9 1/4"  in size.  All for now, Sue x

  2. Hi Sue another modern card this morning and kind of masculine with a slight feminine touch, looks like you're going through a paper piecing phase lol I've recently done paper piecing with a Mandela die for Mehndi party and it took 3 days, 3 days of the tiniest pieces of mirror cardstock and 3 years worth of eye strain and patience lol, in red and gold but my word it was so worth the time and frustration, the end result was stunning and its not me being boastful it was down to the design of the die, and this is what you give our projects Sue.- beauty all down to the designs you give us.
Love to all and thinking of anyone that's going through bad times xxx

Loving this post, something a bit different for a Christmas card, but wondering if the sentiment should've been white - may just be the way it has been photographed...

  13. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, love this sample, I am a great fan of paper piecing so will definitely be adding this to my to do list, the colour choices are perfect, although I might not add the flower as I would want to see the background detail in all it's glory.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  21. Hello Sue. I do admire your patience with all this paper piecing but I would have to say that it is all worth the effort because I think the result is stunning. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and give this technique another try!
