Reverse Gilding Flake Background

Hi crafters!  Have you ever considered using Gilding Flakes on to vellum and then flipping it over?  It really gives a soft, completely different look to your background, don't you think?

The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  4. Hi Sue, now come on this is me reading today's post - never used guilding flakes let alone inside out and upside down. I bought two pots years ago when you bought it to our attention and if I've opened them once that's all I've done. One failed attempt at the start of my crafting hobby and they were condemned to my craft shelf where they sit and glare at me every time I walk into the room - BUT not only do you have the intrigue going berserk how can I resist the invitation to actually watch our mentor show us how this beautiful sample is put together, not me, so I hope you have a lovely day, I'll be using my winning gift (thanks to you and the CE office for posting my die) it was waiting for me Saturday and I'll be hopefully finding flake confidence via your video so I can add them to my festive cards when I decide to make a start! Hugs xxx

    Good Morning Sue and all,
Another fantastic creation to get the crafty juices flowing. I do have some gilding flakes somewhere amongst my stash. I bought them right at the beginning of my crafty journey when I thought I needed everything and had one bad experience with them and that was IT. Also in those early days which is about 3 years ago I bought lots of dies and took them out of their wrappings into a case without naming any of them so I have no idea who they are.
Sorry to be rabbiting on so back to the present and Your great video. Thank you Sue
    Hugs.

  36. Hello Sue,

A beautiful creation Sue. Gilding flakes do add an elegance to a card and used as you have used them today shows them off as a more subdued elegance. I did try this technique and I was quite surprised at the difference it made. I think you have to careful which gilding flakes you choose. I used one of the softer color mixes and I think it looks better with a darker mix as you have chosen.

    Have a fabulous day.

  38. Hello Sue and all
What a different look for the gilding flakes, it is lovely and subtle. The video as usual was so informative and would have to be careful to select the right colours - something dark and with good contrast - but this is gorgeous.

  39. Good morning from a chilly Alberta, Canada. I love the look of this card and I have lots of gilding flakes that I haven't used for a long time. I'll have to dig them out and make this card (or my version of it with different dies). I loved the stamp you used...can you tell me the name of the stamp set, please? I'd like to order it. I love the font. Have a wonderful day!
