Thinking Of You

Good Sunday morning all!  It's glitz and glamour for today's post.  I started with a piece of gold and white striped decorative paper from my stash as the background.  I used the Double Stitched Squares to add a multi layered frame with a wider gold mirror card base and a thin white frame on top.  I added it over the background with mounting foam.  Next I cut the Pansy Flower Square out of white card and glued it to a piece of acetate.  I turned it over and used Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue to fill in areas of the flower starting with the darkest purple of the pansy.  I coated the glue with purple glitter then tapped it off.    I did the leaves next in a deep green glitter.  The centre of the flower was done in gold glitter.  The last part was the centre of the flower which was done in Sparkle star glitter with a hint of blue mixed in. I set it aside to dry overnight.  Once dry, I added a white backing  and mounted it in the lower corner of the frame.  I used the Thinking Of You shadowed sentiment cut out off purple card and mounted on a white shadow in the upper corner.  The card was completed with white and gold mirror card.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size. All for now, Sue x

  1. Morning Sue. WOW. Breathtakingly stunning. Your photography gets really deep into the heart of this sample and shows us every inch of its beauty. Going off subject, I was looking through a plant nursery catalogue yesterday and of course it showed each flower you've turned into Square Flower dies, it was having those pictures in front of me that made me realise even more just how many hundreds of cards we could make with these small but explosive dies, I say explosive because nature has given us there plants each petal with a different explosion of beauty, and thanks to your designs, and the mediums from CE you have given crafters here that chance to give the most beautiful gift within a card. Thank you for this beautiful opportunity and have a wonderful day xxx

    Good morning all.
Another beautiful card Sue. I have a hanging basket of winter pansy's and your card is a perfect reflection of my favourite coloured ones. I would love to have even a small portion of your talent and am so glad that you share yours with us on a daily basis.
    Thank you Sue.

  21. Good Morning Sue. This is so lovely.... even though I am not a lover of the stained glass technique... the card is really beautiful. The striped back ground reminds me of a Victorian stately home. Isn't it amazing how some things come to mind when you look at them. I am sure the recipient of a card like this will really love it. Thankyou Sue. Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds Ls10.

Not my favourite post due to the colour way, but love the pansy square, so can see this easily done with other colours which still makes it a hit for me...

  34. Very pretty indeed Sue, I struggle to do this as I find the glitter just goes everywhere I do not want it...cannot get clean lines like you have here....perseverance is what it is called....luv Ursula xx

  35. I wonder how hard it would be to keep the glue/glitter in the right areas on the back (at least for me). Very pretty card when you do it, however. I will try at some point.

Thanks for the glitz and glamor today. Your design today brightened my allergy day. Oh, Spring! Thanks for the close-up photos. Otherwise I would have missed those lovely colors. Thanks for sharing.

  40. Hi Sue, gosh what a striking card today. I love the stripey background with the gilded frame and I adore the glittered pansy just not too sure if I like them both together. I'm sure that I would fall in love with the whole if I saw it IRL but for the moment the jury is out. I will keep coming back to it and probably find that it has grown on me lol.
