Thinking Of You

Hello there my crafty friends!  This is one of my favourite hummingbird cards.  Think Old Rose, Antique Gold and white (as it was very difficult to capture the true colours on this one.)  I started by cutting the Herringbone Background twice out of coconut white card.  I crisscrossed them and glued them together, then cut it into three strips.  I added very thin white borders to the edges, then backed them all with Old Rose card strips.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached them to a piece of white card.  I used the Double Stitched Circles to make a frame and added mounting foam to the back and seated it in the centre of the card.  I cut the Hummingbird out of Antique Gold card for the top layers, then used Old Rose for the middle layer and white for the bottom layers.  I assembled it and attached it to the side of the frame.  Using the Wildflower die set, I made two layered flowers using Powder Pink card for the top layer, white for the middle and Old Rose card for the bottom layers.  I added gold centres with pearls to both flowers and attached them on the other side of the frame with white leaf accents.  I used the Thinking Of You shadowed sentiment cut in gold and added to a white shadow.  The card was completed with white, old rose and gold mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Morning sue and all Wilsonettes, absolutely brilliant sample today, I have all those dies so I will have a go at trying it, I have used the weave dies and hummingbird on separate cards but not thought to put them together.

  2. Good morning Sue,
I love the Triple Layer dies and this design shows how beautiful the effect is. Thank you for showing us how to use the Herringbone die in another way, I'll have to try the criss cross method myself. x

  10. Hi Sue
I am sure this is one of the cards you showed us last time you were on HOCHANDA. It is a beauty. Those layered dies really are calling my name. The colours look wonderful. The powder pink is an incredibly pale pink and I am sure you said it was not unlike the elusive blush card which was always a big hit.
    Happy Tuesday everyone

  29. Hi Sue. Great card today. I do like the herringbone background die as there is enough detail to look pretty, but not too much that it detracts from the main design. Great idea.

    Hi Sue
It's just a gorgeous card, and I love the herringbone die, so versatile.
Just waiting for my dragonfly card to go with the hummingbird triple layer (I know I should have ordered it straight away!!), and I'll make a card with those two components.

  49. Hi Sue. WOW !!! What a fabulous card today !!! I really love the Antique Gold, Coconut White, and the Old Rose colour combo. It is very pretty. I must try this colour combo myself. I recently used Vanilla, Antique Gold and Lilac which is very similar and is a lovely colour combo. When I first started card making I was very bad with colours but I have learned so much bit by bit, especially with your help Sue, so thank you for that !!! I do like your Herringbone die set. It looks very elegant and you have made a beautiful background using it. Your Wild flowers look stunning Sue with all those beautiful colours, and some of my most favourite dies that I bought first from your new die release is the Wild flowers and the very elegant looking Hummingbird die set which I have to say also looks absolutely stunning when layered up. Thanks for sharing your fabulous card today Sue. Lots of love from Tres X X X
