Hi crafters! I pulled out the Gilding Polish for this one! I started with a piece of
Duck Egg Blue card as my background. I wanted to add some detail to it so I stamped the
Layered Carnation with
Powdered Blue Gilding Polish. I used the sponge applicator to dab the stamp until it was evenly coated then stamped it on to the card. Each flower was stamped twice to complete the flower shape. Next I cut the
Hexagonal Border in white twice. I cut both of them done and overlapped them to create a thinner border. I added a strip of card covered with the same
Gilding Polish to the back of each border strip, added mounting foam and attached it the sides of the card. I cut the
Avery die in white and backed it in white. I cut the thin border out of card that I coated with the gilding polish, then glued it to the edge of the die cut. I cut the centre of the
Avery die in white and backed it with a piece cut from the gilding polish. I added it to the centre of the card, then cut the
Happy Birthday Mini Expression in white and glued it in the centre. I used the
Layered Carnations to make a small flower and I edged it with the gilding polish. I added it with a few white leaves to the corner of the sentiment. A single small flower was added cut out of a spare bit of the gilded card. White on white mats and layers were used to complete the card. The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteHi Sue. What a pretty sample, the duck egg blue is a beautiful shade it's one of the many I like to keep plenty of, but I had no idea you could stamp with guilding polish, now that's something I must try, it's a gorgeous effect. All in all a pretty inspirational way to start the day. Hoping your day is a lovely one xxx

Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty today created with two of my favorite dies from this release. I love how you have stamped the background with gilding polish, it gives a magical quality to the card.
I also like how you have made the borders smaller without diminishing the beauty of the die. I have to remember to try that.
I know you are probably busy setting up for the opening of Creativation so have a wonderful day.

Good morning Sue.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful card and my favourite colours.
I have never used gilding polish as the 3 tins that I've had for a while are too hard to use and I haven't found an answer to the problem. I think I must put gilding polish on my NEED IT NOW list and have it here before the urge to try it wears off.
All for now, hugs to all.

Another gorgeous card Sue. I love the way you backed the Avery die with white, at first I thought I hadn't seen this one before because I actually thought it was an embossing die. Another way to give your dies a completely different look.

Hi Sue, a really pretty card and I love the way you created the background. If you have told us before about stamping with gilding polish I am sorry to say that I have forgotten but I will certainly give it a go now as I think it gives a beautiful effect.
ReplyDeleteMarie P - if you have tins then it is gilding wax that you have. Gilding polish is very different and comes in a plastic pot with its own applicator - it's brilliant.

Geat use of the Gilding Polish. Next to Pixie Powders, Gilding Polish is one of the products I ready like to use. Good job on photographing your card. My eyes actually recognize the raised center you did on the Hexagonal Border. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
