Daffodil Flower Square

Hi bloggers!  I have a sunny Daffodil card to share with you today.  I started by cutting the Daffodil Flower Square out of black card and gluing it to a piece of acetate.  I used Yellow Citrine, Emerald Green and Teal Tourmaline Crystal Tints to fill in all the areas.  I put a thin layer of each of the colours down first and allowed it to dry (about 30 minutes), then added a second layer to get the colour more intense.  I set that aside to dry overnight.  I cut another of the Daffodil die in white and used it slightly offset from the black one.  I added a white backing behind it to make the colour pop.  I glued it onto a piece of black card then cut three thin white  frames out of the Double Stitched Squares.  I added mounting foam to them and then attached them around the flower.  The black and white is quite striking against the bright yellow of the flower.  I completed the card with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2"  x  7 1/2 " in size.  All for now, Sue x

Stunning card this morning you have created with the Daffodil Flower Square . The colours from the inks shine through beautifully on the design from the inks. The black and white frames work so well to finish the card.

  7. Morning Sue. Beautiful and vibrant, (wish I felt like that at 6.55) lol I love how the black frames show the beauty of the daffodil and colours used as the background. A small and beautiful reminder of the spring to come, some of the first flowers to wake up after a long cold winter, and a special flower with meaning for a special friend. Thanks for waking me up with your gorgeous design and inspiration xxx

  16. Hello Sue,

A bright and cheerful card today, so nice to see after four days of continuous rain and more expected on Monday, thankful that it wasn't snow. Your card is a reminder that Spring is just a few months away. It is amazing the impact one small die with mats and layers can have.

    Have a wonderful day.

  18. Hi Sue
Absolutely love this card. I fell in love with these gorgeous squares when you launched them. They really do make the most beautiful focal point on any card - whatever the card size. The crystal tints have featured quite a lot on recent posts and I am loving the fantastic affect they give.
Apologies for my lack of comments over the last few days. Has been overly busy with my sons 21st birthday celebrations - which began with him having an emergency tooth extraction! Happy Birthday! I am hoping things have now calmed down and I can breathe!
    Happy Monday everyone

  33. Hello Sue and all
Really striking card with the black, white and yellow and the frames. Daffodils are a favourite but one bulb that I can’t seem to grow here unfortunately. Snowdrops, bluebells, hyacinths and freesias are all good though and give me a little English corner of the garden for a short while.

  35. Hi Sue, I love all your square flower dies and the daffodil especially will be red hot in use next Easter. This card has something of an optical illusion about it as on first viewing it looked as though you had used several mats and layers but you have deceived the eye by just using several thin frames - very clever.

  36. A striking card design with the light and dark frames, texture, color and the different levels using the thin frames. Sort of a stepper card without being a stepper card. Clever you are! Always a pleasure to view your card designs. Thanks for sharing.
