Best Brother

Good Sunday morning all!   I found this fab guy card in an older folder and thought I would share it.  I started with a piece of pale grey card.  i used several distress Oxides on it.  I swiped some Vintage Photo (straight from the pad to the card) across it, then Iced Spruce to give it the look of old wood.  I then cut it up into one inch wide strips and random cut them into smaller pieces anywhere from one inch to four inches long.  I went around the edges of each of the strips with Walnut Stain then glued them back in to place on another piece of card, slightly over lapping the ends so they looked like planks of wood and used this for my background. Next I cut the Apron die out of tan card and added on the extra pockets with mounting foam.  I used some twine as the ties.  I cut the tools from the In The Tool Box die set and added them to the pockets.  I cut the tool box out of grey card and inked through the die with Walnut Stain ink to bring out the texture.  I glued it in the corner of the card and added more tools to it.  I used the Stitched Pegboard die to create a sign for my sentiment, cutting the centre die in grey to look like pegboard, then adding a small frame around it in tan card.  I used the Best Brother sentiment from the Tool Box die set.  I completed the card with white, grey and tan mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are  7 1/2" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now. Sue x

  6. Morning Sue. I love seeing the older dies and this is great, 2 for the price of 1 not only your DIY but the bakers apron too, I'm going to make 2019 the year of 'oldies' as when I get new dies for my birthday or Christmas or anniversary etc they live at the top of my storage, so I tend not to use the earlier dies as much as I should and I'm sure I'm not alone admitting that, so the European, American, Greek etc will get as much love and use as the new one's I know I'll receive this year. Loving today's manly sample and the way you've put them together. Have a lovely day xxx

  22. Hi Sue,
Great card for the men. I Ike to see ' older ' dies being used as I'm like Steph and put my new ones on the top and forget the older ones! I have used some of my older ones though for a lot of my Christmas cards this year and was pleased with the results - I'd forgotten how lovely they were. Love and hugs to all, Alison xxx

    Good morning Sue and all.
Well,my Daughter and her spouse have left for their home in Wisconsin and will be there around now. So lovely to have them and now I must get on with my cards which I had hoped to finish long before this.
I love today's card and am sure that all the budding DIY guys and gals will love it as much as the experts.
I don't know where you get your inspiration from Sue but you never fail to please.
    Best wishes to all

  28. Good Morning Sue. Wonderful man card this morning...... I love it when you put a man card on. I try not to exact copy from it....... but I improvise with the dies I have.....and something like this will be on my list for my own brother..... who will be 60 next month. So Thankyou Sue this has come just at the right time for me. And yes.... lovely to see the older dies come out. I had a little spend a couple of months ago and to be honest .... I craved for the dies I bought...... but two of them have not even been opened yet..... although they were bought specially for a birthday that is on the horizon. So they will be getting their day. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

  32. Fab card and another for the men in your life, though it doesn't take much to put a feminine touch to this card for all those ladies that are diy fiends (I know a few who are far better than their hubby's at this sort of thing). I love my apron die and so useful.

  36. Hi Sue, I too love to see some of the older dies again as a reminder. I love this card and all the little tools and just wish that I still had someone suitable to buy the set for. Your wooden background planks look just like the floor of a shed should.
