Thinking Of You

Hello crafters!  This is one of my favourite cards from the Oct. release so I am excited to share it with you.  I made several pieces of Pixie powdered card to use for this.  The first one was done in yellows; Straw Yellow and sun yellow Pixie Powders.  Next I did one in reds using Scarlet Mist and Lava Red Pixie Powder.  The blues used were Midnight blue, Aqua Lagoon and a hint of Purple Amethyst.  Finally, the green one was made using Olive Green, Emerald green and Spearmint.  I cut all three of the flower squares out of white card and did matching white backing pieces with a sticky adhesive sheet attached.  I kept all the whit background pieces from each one I cut and after attaching the die to the sticky backing piece, I laid them back into place in each of the flowers.  I cut the rose and used the fallaway out of the red pixied background.  The Iris out of the blue and the Daffodil out of the yellow one.  Next I cut each of the flower dies out of the green and pieced the leaves back into each of them to complete the entire flower dies.  I cut another backing square and used a smaller Double Stitched square and matted it then added the Thinking of You sentiment cut in black.  I added mounting foam to the backs of all four squares and attached them to another piece of white card and added a thin black mat.  White and black mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  7. How lovely to see the new kids on the block make their appearance. As soon as I saw these dies I fell in love, and I felt so fortunate to receive the rose, thank you Sue. They are gorgeous used alone, but as a three some they make the most beautiful picture not only for card making projects but there are some mighty talented people out there that would turn these dies into a fabric project or even use them on candles and ceramics, so to say their beauty holds no bounds is an understatement. I'm also lucky to have some daffodils from a wonderful friend for which they have a deep meaning, I have my Pixie backgrounds ready and waiting for when I can take a break from my festive order, but I know for sure that we'll see many inspirational backgrounds to highlight these pretty delicate dies. Thanks for a lovely start to my day, hope your day starts beautifully too xxx

Good morning Sue. A lovely card for sure. I'm afraid my limited vision doesn't allow for much in the way of paper piecing although I do try sometimes. I love the effect of the pixie powders and when all of my Christmas cards are finished I plan on making quite a stock of them. Up to now, that's my only New Year resolution.
    Hugs,
    Marie P.

  44. Hi Sue,
Truly beautiful. I do love these flowers and enjoy paper piecing too, so, a great combination. I really must invest in some pixie powders in the future, but must get my Christmas cards finished first.
Starting to pack this afternoon ready for the flight home tomorrow. Hugs xx Pauline in S.A.

  46. A stunning collection of beautifully created flowers. Great job with the pixie powdered flowers and the tedious paper piecing. I also want to tell you how much I appreciate your white on white layers. I have always liked the look of white on white, but had not done much of it - until making some of my Christmas cards. Layering layers of white on white is hard to see to do this and to get the layers straight. One would not think this would be difficult. But it has been for me. Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving.

  48. Hi Sue, I love this card and had to purchase all three Square Flowers as soon after launch as I could. I have only got as far as cutting them in white (I do this with all new dies as I find it makes it easier when designing a card to see if a particular die will fit where I want it to) but have not yet made a card with them. I look forward to when I have finished all my Christmas cards so that I can have a proper play with them and the other dies I received for my recent birthday.

  59. Hello Sue and all
Gorgeous card Sue ! Love the way you have combined different tones of the same colour in pixie powders for each flower, so effective. Time to play with the pixies again I think, running short of sheets, they are so good to have on hand and can often make the difference to a card compared to using a plain colour card.

Christmas cards just about finished apart from a few special ones so now cleaning, reorganising and sorting the craft room ready for non Christmas cards once again. Bit sad really, love making Christmas cards, definitely favourites.
