Hello all! Today's card shows off a couple of the Stamps To Die For (STDF) from April. I started by stamping the
Fleur de Lys STDF using
Flake and Glitter glue on to black card. I cleaned the stamp well then gilded it with
Gemstones Gilding Flakes and used a piece of rubit scrubit to remove the excess flakes, then die cut it with the matching
Phoebe die. I used the inner cutting die to cut the centre of it out. I stamped my sentiment on white card and then mounted it behind the opening in the frame. Next I used the
Elegant Damask STDF and used the same gilding flakes and same method, but this time, I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet then glittered it with
Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz, then cut the shape out with the matching
Caroline die. I mounted the sentiment frame on top of it with foam. Next I cut an
Ava die in white and another
Phoebe die, this time out of white card. I cut it in half and mounted it to the sides of the Ava die and seated the gilded dies in the centre. Behind the dies, I thought I would give the card a torn and curled background to add some interest and just for something different. I completed the card with a white on white mat. The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 8" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue and all
ReplyDeleteAn amazing card, the gilding flakes make it look so rich and the combination of dies is lovely. I only have the Ava die out of these but you have inspired me to try something like this with the frames and tags dies that I have.
Hugs
Muriel x
This is so very interesting! With all the elaborate shapes, and the cutting and stamping and gilding flake sticking and scrubbing, what catches the eye is the torn and curled paper!
ReplyDeleteThank you for shaking us up!
Best to all,
Donita in R.I.
Morning Sue.

Morning Sue. Thanks you for sharing this beautiful sample. The dies you've put together and the choice of guilding flakes show how detailed and beautiful the stamps is. Your daily inspiration is so valuable thanks you xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Love the two different effects you have done with the gilding flakes.
ReplyDeleteA grungy centre which I love but think I would have preferred the background to be darker as the contrast for me is too much. Great work though regardless. Xxx
ReplyDeleteA very smart card Sue. Gilding flakes make such a statement. Thank you, have a good day.xxx
ReplyDeletegorgeous Sue the gilding flakes looks fab

right somehow, can't put my finger on what is
wrong,

It is a shame that the gorgeous colours of this gilding flake (which is my favourite alongside a discontinued one) is not shown to its best in any photo. I am sure that seeing the real card would capture anyone’s heart.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
I love the way you’ve done the background and stacked the dies. Brilliant card. X
ReplyDeleteOh Sue this is a stunning card I love it. Those dies are gorgeous. I enjoyed the video yesterday. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes.
ReplyDeleteA very different card today Sue. I think it takes me a little bit out of my comfort zone, but perhaps that's a good thing in our crafty world.
Thank you for the wake-up.

Hi Sue. I love this card - of course I do because you have used the wonderful Ava die! I do admire your card with distressed edges, it looks so arty.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
Hi Sue, not my style but still lovely . love Jean Z xxxx
ReplyDeleteHello Sue, a beautiful card, it has a very vintage and aged feel with the gilding flakes on black and the torn card. Different but I like it. Have a good day everyone. Bx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeletethat´s a gorgeous card.
Love the gilding flakes and even the torn edges look elegant on your card.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteLove the stamped and gilded focal area and not sure that the torn and curled edges don’t detract from that but that’s just me liking everything neat and tidy
Love and hugs to everyone
Pat
Morning Sue, love the torn edge effect. I tried this once but I think that my card was too thick because instead of looking 'aged', it looked just like a ripped and 'scruffy' piece which went in the bin.
ReplyDeleteGilding flakes are so pretty. Hugs xx Pauline in S.A.
Hi SUE
ReplyDeleteI love the way all these dies have all come together fantastically the torn and curled effect is a brilliant idea
OWLISH Xx
Hi Sue good morning

Doesn’t do it for me, sorry. Maybe it would look nicer ‘in the flesh’

Hi Sue, I love both the dies and the STDF that you have used so I'm sorry that the card itself does nothing for me, not sure why and I would probably change my mind if I saw it for real.
ReplyDeleteFrances
Love these dies but not the torn look, just not for me

A totally different look.
ReplyDeleteDifferent and interesting, I agree. Still not sure about these curled edges, they don't work well with the elegance of Phoebe and Ava in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Toronto

This card just doesn't strike me right. I think its because the focal is so dark and then all the white. I don't mind any of the components on their own.I must agree with Kate.A darker, more shabby chic background would have pleased me more with the focal die.
ReplyDeleteYou make so many gorgeous cards and I very rarely don't go crazy for them, just not this one.

Hi Sue, I love the Ave, Caroline and Phoebe dies they work so well together and reall compliment each other, I’m just not sure about the dark center of this card, Lovely as it is - it just doesn’t work for me. Hugs Brenda xxx
ReplyDeleteNot my cup of tea, the torn edges are all wrong, they take away from the gilding
ReplyDeleteI like this but the thought of glitand flake glue with gilding flakes makes me shiver They don’t play nicely together for me
