Christmas Double Day

Hi bloggers!  The first card uses a deep blue background, which is quite unusual for me, but I rather like it!  I cut the Triptych Window out of silver mirror card.  I used a caught in crystal background that  I had made using alcohol inks and mica powders. On a piece of acetate,  I used Blueprint, Cool Peri and Stonewashed Denim, then sprinkled on some silver mica powder before scrunching up a piece of tissue paper and setting it aside to dry well.  I used the outer die to cut the backing for the window, then glued them together and mounted it in the upper portion of the background.  I cut a bunch of the Classic Poinsettia out of vellum and used Silver Gilding Polish on the petals to add a little shine, then assembled them and added the flowers to the corners.  I cut the Silent Night in silver and glued it to the centre.  White, silver mirror card and Deep blue card were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

For card number two, I embossed a piece of coconut card using the Falling Snow Embossing folder.  I cut it diagonally and added mounting foam to the back. I cut another piece of coconut white card, matching the diagonal cut.  I added mounting foam to the back of it too.  I mounted them both onto a piece of Cobalt Blue card, leaving a wide gap between them.  I cut thee Frosty Snowflake Border out of white and glued it into the gap between the two halves.  I cut the 2018 Christmas Angel with a piece of cobalt blue on top and coconut white card underneath.  I used the blue as the outline and the white copy as the solid backing.  I sprayed glue onto the white backing piece, added the outline, then glittered the angel with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz,  I mounted her on the lower left corner and added some pearl swirls.  I cut the Swirled Silent Night twice, them cut both of them apart to get both the Silent and the night words to offset in the upper corner.  White and blue mats and layers were used to complete the card,  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  9" in size.

Don't forget that the drawing for the die launch winners will be held later today,  It's not too late to add any comments to posts you may have missed!    All for now, Sue x

  5. Hello Sue. Back to festive double day, and sad to see back to pre-launch blog numbers ! At each new launch I really hope the high number of visitors will continue to stay in the hundreds but my world seems full of pipe dreams and it's sad to see the numbers drop so drastically (until the next new collection )
Sorry to start on a negative Sue but I'm not sure on either and I know I'll probably be the only one that's unsure. I've never been a dragonfly gal and I'm no Angel, I've seen loads of gorgeous cards made with the window with some stunning backgrounds and the same with the Angel but I'm not in love with either. The samples are beautiful Sue, and so is the inspiration. Sorry to say how I feel and hope I've not hurt your feelings xxx

  15. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, I so enjoy double days and this one is no exception with 2 absolutely stunning sample, both of them enjoying a rightful place on the blog, I like the regal blue of the first one with the amazing arch framework, and the second again with a blue using your wonderful Angel and the Silent Night sentiment, now come the hard part, trying to say which is my favourite, well sorry I am going to disappoint you because they are both equal in their own right at the No 1 spot.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue and all Wilsonettes.
Double Day sounds like extra work for you Sue but I'm sure you know that it's very much appreciated by your admirers.
I love both of today's cards and a combination of blue and white always grabs my attention. If I had to choose between the two, it would be the windows for me .
    Keep well and happy.

  28. Hi Sue
Oh my goodness. Both of these cards are amazing. I really love a double day but cannot/will not pick a favourite - completely impossible.
I think the cobalt card is absolutely striking. I have quite a few alcohol inks lurking in the dark depths of my crafty stash. Must bring them out of retirement to play with me.
My card making activities have been seriously hampered this year for one reason or another. My mind is willing but my body will not play ball. I got all of your Christmas dies for my Birthday in July and most of them are still longing to be put to work.
Had completely forgotten that today is the day! So I expect I will see you all later x
    Happy Friday everyone

The angel is so sweet and I love the diagonal cut using the Frosted Snowflake border. Charming cards, both.
