Fabulous Friend

Hello all!  The Daisy Stained Glass is on show for today's card.  I started by cutting it with a piece of black card on top and a white card underneath.  The top black card cut the die out completely and the white card left a perfect imprint while cutting the outer edge.  I used the white card to colour the design with distress markers.  I used Spun Sugar, mustard seed and crushed olive.  I covered this piece with a sticky adhesive sheet, then added the black outline die and coated the remaining adhesive areas with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz.  I added some dries clear glue to the flower centres then added medium micro beads for texture and allowed the glue to dry.  I cut two of the Lexi die in white and offset them behind the stained glass.  I stamped the sentiment at the top using the stamps from the Big Ideas set.  I added the Fabulous mini expression die cut in black at the bottom and stamped the word "friend" with it (also from he same stamp set).  White and black mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  5. Oh Sue this is beautiful, really pretty. Probably due to it being early and my eyes aren't completely focused plus not reading your post I had to do a double take, is this a new folder with a totally new design with a corner to corner pattern, maybe I should try and read the post FIRST and get new glasses to help early a.m focus ! I really should think about investing in one 'every day' stained glass die and one festive, and maybe this should be the one but I'm afraid I'd not to them justice. A beautiful piece of work that anyone would love to receive. I've seen some really lovely photos of you at AP looks like Paul has another tick to his bucket list, bless him, it speaks volumes as does the one particular photo of you doing a demo, but what stands out is that ray of sunshine surrounding you, need I say more ☺ so I hope those nasty bugs that made you feel under the weather have moved on and that today will be a nice day xxx

  6. Morning Sue, I do love your stained glass dies and have 3 of them, but not this one. I might just have to remedy that in the no to distant future.
Love the technique used. WOuld never have thought about putting 2 pieces of card together in order to get an imprint too. Going to give this a try with the sailing boat die now. Thank you for your failing inspiration Sue. Hugs xx Pauline

  15. Hello Sue and all
So pretty and love the bling of course. Your stained glass dies are so beautiful, I don’t have this one as I thought I didn’t need it as I have the daisy with the butterfly but it is so clean and simple I am now beginning to wonder. I have most of these dies and they are really go tos, specially the poinsettias and hummingbirds, favourite things. The Christmas robin is so cute but the yacht is so good for our males, I really hope you think of some more of them.

  28. Good Morning Sue. So lovely and summery today Sue. I have to say I am not a great lover of the stained glass dies... as I have said before.... it would not do for us all to be the same....but if ever there was a card to change my mind it would be this one. You have done a superb job and I love the idea of the die cut background. I certainly will be having a mammoth catch up when we get home. Thank you Sue. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

    Good morning Sue.
What a coincidence that our morning treat is a stained glass one. Yesterday I finally tried using Pixie Powders for the first time and LOVED IT. I have prepared my desk for today with all of my as yet unused stained glass dies .The Robin will be first with PP and the second will be today's treat so you will be there beside me I'm sure. I am always inspired by what you do for us.

  31. Hi Sue
    What a beauty.
Love the sound of that technique. I do have a soft spot for the stained glass dies. You can use them to make amazingly stunning cards like this or they can be used to make relatively quick and simple cards. Either way they make a wonderful focal point on any card.
Only 2 more sleeps until Take Over. Really looking forward to seeing you in action. Hope you are feeling better and that your voice is not going to let you down x

  44. Hi Sue, I love this card and the die which I was given as a present. The first card I made with it (using acetate and glitter) was of course a thank you for the giver who was as pleased as punch. I have made others mainly using paper piecing so I thank you very much for the ideas on today's card which I shall try very soon.

  53. All your stained glass dies are beautiful, Sue.Thank you for sharing how you made this lovely card. Cutting two different colour papers once, it is a great way to get the top cut completely and the second paper only embossed (easy to see what you have to color). The delicacy of Lexi's lace gives the elegance that makes this card special.Love it.
