Hello crafters! We are doing a little letter pressing for today's offering. I started with a piece of wisteria card and the Infinity Loops embossing folder. I inked the folder with Gentle Lavender Chalk Cloud ink with a smoothie. I then placed my card into the folder and ran it through the machine to transfer the ink. I cut the letter pressed background in a diagonal across the centre. I matted both the pieces with a black mat on the inner edge then attached it to another piece of wisteria card, leaving a wide open band in the centre. I cut two of the Floral Melody in white and in black. I shadowed them then added the matching flowers cut out of Iris card behind, I attached them along the diagonal areas of the upper and lower sides. I cut the Thank You Mini Expression die twice out of Iris card and glued it in the centre.White, wisteria and black mats and layers were used to complete the card. The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. I really must try letter pressing again, my first attempt went so laughably wrong but that was when I was a folder virgin and hadn't a clue which side was which lol so you've made me think about trying it again (it's just card and ink) right ?
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to the card of the day and as always I'm not disappointed it's beautiful Sue.
Have a good day xxx
That’s so beautiful.

I love this card, the sentiment, the gentle colours, and the lovely background. I must remember to try letter pressing today. Very inspiring Sue, thank you. Have a good day.xxx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous card, so pretty.

Let me see if I understand.. You put the darker color ink on the side of the embossing folder that has recessed loops and protruding spaces in between. So the spaces in between got the darker ink, and the recessed loops didn't get any ink. Then when you embossed it, the loops were squished into their shapes without touching ink, so they come out raised and a lighter color, and the spaces in between came out recessed and darker because of the ink.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for me to figure out because I wasn't sure whether the gen lavender chalk cloud was lighter or darker than the wisteria card until you said the diagonal middle was in wisteria.
I'm guessing that you backed the big floral melody flowers in Iris before you added the black shadow. Otherwise there would be black shadow inside the big flowers like there are inside the little ones.
I've never tried letterpressing, but I think I'm getting it. Unless you can tell that I don't. Then would somebody please correct me.
Keep cool, everyone in the northern hemisphere.
Best,
Donita
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card. this is one of my

of the others have said, I've not done
letter pressing for some time, must try

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove the colour scheme here and the dies you've used and with a change of sentiment it would make a great birthday card too...
Donita - yes, you've got it!...the only thing to remember is to use a chalky or pigment ink on the folder - using a water-based inkpad won't work, the ink beads up on the plastic folder and gives a very patchy result...good luck...
Izzy
Good Morning Sue. I really like this card. And like some of our other Wilsonettes I haven't tried letter pressing yet. Firstly I am not sure what ink to use. And secondly I am a little scared in case I mess up my folders. Sue do you have a tutorial on this technique.....it would be nice to see how it's done and which inks to use. It's a beautiful card Sue and again an all occasion card. Thank you Sue. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds
