King Of The Grill

Hello crafters!  I know this isn't the season for barbecuing, but I just had so much fun with this set that I want to share some of the cards!  I hope you don't mind!  If I keep them until summer, I will completely forget I have them!  I started by creating the checker board square borders on the sides.  I cut strips of red card and white card and alternated them on to a piece of copy paper.  Next I cut them across the strips so each strip now had small squares of both colours.  I reassembled them and offset the squares to create the checker board pattern.  I cut two rows and added each of them to a black mat and glued them to the sides of the card.  For the focal element, I cut a large black hexagon and a smaller white one.  I added the grill cut out of black gloss card, the fire cut from white card and inked with yellow and red distress inks, the mitt and the tongs.  I cut the chef''s hat, a couple of utensils and the mustard and ketchup bottle and glued them to the upper right side.  I cut the king of the grill sentiment in white and black and offset them, gluing them to the lower left side of the card.  White, black and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue., so cheerful and heralds summer days.
Elaine, I'm so sorry that Andrew is having a bad time, must be so worrying for you. I don't know if the treatment at the moment is a good thing but the hospital must think so. I hope you all get some good news from the scan soon.
Myra, hope the migraine has passed on by now, nasty things, so debilitating. Thank you for update on Maureen, I hope her wifely nursing skills are helping poor Geirge. Wish them well fir me please.
Saba is missing at the moment, hope all is well for her.
Dorothy, I feel your frustration but it won't be much longer, gently does it.
Yvonne, short comments whilst you are not well are very acceptable as they let us know how you are, take care. Where us Laine.
June, hooe your last Craft club of the year went well. When do you restart them.
Off for two days again, doing short weeks for next two weeks too, got lots of leave to use and feeling pretty weary so using some of it.
Alimecca, well done you, I'm totally impressed.
Hugs to all, esoecially our poorly and missing friends.

  4. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a beautiful creation, gives us inspiration to make this or a similar card and keep in the completed box until it is needed, I can think of at least 3 men who this would be suitable for, will have a go at this sometime over the Christmas period when everything is done, for now still have a few things to do.

Pam I reiterate all you have said above, I too send special hugs to everyone who need them, we all need them at some stage so if I send them out every day you can all grab one.

Craft group was good yesterday, 5 of us did Groovi's which was really good, the rest did card making, I wish you could see some samples of what everyone makes, it really is inspirational. We are off for our Christmas Lunch next Wednesday which will be the last one until 10th January, it will give us a month off to get everything done for, and to enjoy all the Christmas things that everyone does. It will also hopefully give me a chance to have a play with some new stuff and do instructions for them.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  8. Hi Sue. Hollyberry read my mind lol. And before the day is over someone somewhere will post they are having wonderful bbq weather while I'm sitting here with the rain battering at the window just in time for madame first walk of the day - still, as cruel as it sounds its a picture perfect scene when 'my keeper' appears in head to toe waterproofs bless him. So you've given us a lovely colourful sample that reminds of us of the summer months gone by and the summer months to look forward to ☺ in the meantime im in hibernation but crafting away and STILL waiting for my dies to arrive ! It certainly was Black Friday and each day since my order went in !! And breath lol.
Thanks for a real happy sample Sue. Look forward to double day festive samples tomorrow.
Sending love and hugs by the bbq full xxx

I would just like to say, and I hope it is not out of place, that this time of the year and Christmas is not always a good time for some people for whatever reason. So if we know someone like that, an extra hug would be nice. X
