Hi crafters! We are going to walk in winter's wonderland for this week's card giveaway! I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Twinkle Twinkle embossing folder. Next I cut a sloped hill area out of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet attached to it. I glittered it with Iced Snow and glued it to the bottom of the embossed background. Out of Brunswick green card, I stamped several of the trees and tree clusters using the Forest Life clear stamp set and cut them out with their matching dies from the Forest Animals die set. I glued a strip of the trees across the top of the card, then added single trees in the foreground. I dabbed glue on to them and glittered them as well with Iced Snow. I stamped and cut out the deer family. I added highlights to them with a white pencil and lightly inked the edges with walnut stain before gluing them into place below the trees. I cut several of the Winter Wonderland die and stacked them for dimension, then glued them into place around the trees and deer. Finally I cut a multi layered frame from the Double Pierced Rectangles (A and B set) and added it with foam over the top of the scene. I cut several of the Classic Poinsettia dies out of vellum and created a floral element which I added to the corner of the card with a white satin ribbon bow. The card was completed with white on white mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size. If you would like a chance to win this card, just leave a comment to be entered into the drawing. The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteCrewe Trish, your brother will be watching over you all at Chrustmas, i hope that with Mum and hubby that you manage to have a peaceful Christmas. Thinking of you all.
Saba, whatever is going on pkease try to get some rest too, we don't want you ill. I love real Christmas trees but can't stand the needle drop. Even the ones that say they don't, they do.
Maureen, hope the kitchen renovation is finished and you can get sorted.
Rosemary, waiting for results is hard, try not to worry. Sorry to hear you had another seizure, tell your doctor honey, don't try to manage by yourself.
Elaine, hope all is well with Andrew, has he had his scan yet. How is the Gemini going, keep turning those plates. Did the guy fix your laptop?
Carmen, sending an extra hug for you. You will miss your family even more at this time of year. Tell the whining old man that old age comes to us all, some just don't handle it too well.
Sharon, are you going somewhere nice fir Christmas.
One if my teammates is Disney mad, her husband and grown up son too. They are booked into Eoto Dusney from Chrustmas Eve until New Years Day, their Christmas presents to each other. She is so excited. It's her birthday on 17th Dec so I have to make her a Mickey Mouse card.
Anyway, hugs to all, plenty to go round. Thinking if all poorly and missing friends. We haven't forgotten you.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteWonderful winter's scene to this card.Love the twinkling snow.Good luck everyone.
Jan x
Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card that will be a delight to the lucky winner. I love how you have used the dies and colored the deer. It makes the card so realistic and reminds me of snowy days on the farm when the deer would come out to eat in the evening. Thankfully we haven't had any of those snowy days yet but it has been bitter cold.
Hope that you have a great day.
Beverly
Morning Sue
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous Christmas card, in fact I think it should be framed!

ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful card today Sue. Love t is fantastic winter scene. Great for friends of other faiths. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue. It's beautiful. I've been sitting looking at this sample for 15mins trying to put into words what I see and all I can come up with is "it's beautiful" !! Although the immediate area we live in is pants were fortunate to be surrounded by a few beautiful country parks and woodland walk area's a short drive away. Unlike Andy I can't enjoy these surroundings this time of year unless I sit in the car but car parks are not all that interesting, it's something I envy, but unfortunately hibernation is kicking in but I look forward to hearing about the Autumn/Winter animals Andy and the dog bump into during their walks, saying that, I was so very lucky to see the most majestic deer playing statue a few summers ago whilst walking in woodland. So I really do love this sample and could use your deer family dies to make something similar.

Dear Sue and Hopefuls,
ReplyDeleteGood thing your Wednesday giveaway is not done with all of us watching because as much as I like my fellow Wilsonettes, I'd knock down a few to get this card!
As Lynda Mellor has suggested, the name of this giveaway could be three deer and a happy bunny. Your Woodlands set and matching stamps sure contain a lot of options.
Carmen, I'm glad you said something to that guy at work who is only 48 and complains about getting old. And Rosemary, I loved your plucky line, "Hey, ho, people worse off." May I steal it? I've been looking for an answer that isn't a lie or a swear when someone asks how I am. Now the best I can muster is "living the dream." At work we have a housekeeper who works two jobs and rarely gets a day off. She doesn't make very much money, but she works hard and she's always tired but always smiling. I feel embarrassed that I have complaints when my life is cushy compared to hers.
OH dear, dropping off again. No wonder I'm living the dream, I'm too tired to stay awake!
I hope you, Dragonsnap, have the best day possible yourself. And that goes double for Rosemary, Laine, Pam, Tracy, Yvonne and Crewe Trish and everyone on both sides of the Pond..
Love,
Donita
Oh wow Sue this is a stunning card I love the winter scene you have created. Have a great day today. Take care. Hugs Jackie

Pam – Thank you for the hug, one big back to you. Good luck with Mickey Mouse card, you should have so much fun make it.
Sharon – Hope you’ll enjoy your time in Cyprus.
Donita - Ha, ha … you’ll knock down a few fellow Wilsonettes, to get this card? I really doubt it. You, who makes donations in peoples’ name? You, who sympathize with housekeeper’s situation? But, thank you for the good laugh!
Elaine – Glad Andrew is feeling a little better. Poor Mary. At least she has you. Sending gentle hugs for each of you.
Maureen & Myra – Got your hugs and love. Sending back tones of huggles.Hope the Customs won’t charge you for this :). I paid shipping & handling for every and each huggle :)
Saba – I am on your hubby's side, I like real trees, too!
PP & Laine – Hope you are Ok but for sure you don’t have so much fun without your fellow Wilsonettes.
A very sad update: Jacob Thomson, the boy who loved penguins, lost his battle with cancer and left this world on Sunday, November 19th. He was only 9 years old. May he rest in peace!
…and my co-worker complains about getting older.
Hugs to you all.

This card is absolutely gorgeous Sue. Those deer are just so realistic. Whoever wins this is going to be one very happy person
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. WOW, WOW, WOW !!! This is gorgeous !!! I love it !!! The woodland animals look fabulous Sue, they are Sooo cute. I think the matching stamps are wonderful, as they make your animals look very realistic. I love those beautiful trees. Dipping them in ice snow adds a touch of magic to your beautiful Christmassy scene. The "walking in a winter wonderland" sentiment is so so lovely, and reminds me of that wonderful song. The Twinkle Star EF is great and those rectangle frames give the card that elegant look. As always I am loving your Poinsettia's, and these ones made in Vellum make the card look Christmassy, dreamy and fabulous !!! Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous card today. x x x
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to say yesterday's card is really beautiful too !!! I looked at your card yesterday and watched the video and I actually thought I had left you a comment, but today I could not find it. I don't know what happened ? Appologies. Any way the card is FAB !!! I loved everything about it. I would not have thought to put those colours together but they work great together. Unfortunately just about all of those dies are on my huge long wish list !!! I do really love your Poinsettia Checkerboard Striplet die ( I think it is ? ) This die is gorgeous and I think I may really need to get that one sooner rather than later !!! A beautiful, beautiful card Sue, oh and the video as always from you, is fab !!! Thank you so much for sharing it.

Many hugs to you all, Maria x
What a beautiful card. Lovely animals.
ReplyDeleteHello Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis card says Wintry Christmas with a capital W and C, it's certainly a show stopper!!!
Pam, I was going to say we are all finished, everything is back in it's place and just have to buy a couple of things, then the Dip and Strip man called to say our two doors are ready to be collected, so the lovely son in law will hang them tomorrow, and then we'll paint them. I'm thrilled skinny (if only ha ha) with it all. Good luck with the Mickey Mouse card,
Sharon, the winter sun in Cyprus should perk you up. Enjoy yourself and relax.
Elaine, good to read that Andrew is a little better, but sorry that the laptop is not fixed.
Donita, as Bette Davis once said "getting old ain't for sissies", and as my Doctor says "it sure beats the alternative" ha ha. You sound worn out, can you not rest up a bit more?
Maria A, I hope you are in less pain.
Oh Carmen, I am so very sad to read that Jacob lost his battle. We cannot fathom the rhyme or reason sometimes. Love and prayers to you and his family and may he Rest in Peace.
Carmen's news has flattened me, so I'll wish everyone love and happiness.
Maureen (friend of Myra) xxx

A beautiful card today Sue. Looks really wintery. Lovely card for a freebie. Thank you. Carmen so sorry to hear about Jacob. My sympathy tomyoumand his family. My granddaughter is the same age and I would be devastated if anything happened to her. Elaine hope you get the laptop fixed soon and you can manage until your friend can look at it again. Echoing Pam's comments today. Had frustrating morning. Took a friend for a hospital appointment. Car park was full (as usual) so she got out of the car and went into the hospital while I tried to park. Used to be able to find a place on the street but Permit Holders Only now. I went so far from the hospital and still hadn't found anywhere I decided to go home and wait for her to phone to say she had finished. That wasn't the idea though. She wanted me to go with her. Some things you just cannot do however hard you try.

Pam how lucky your work mate is, they will have a fantastic time, good luck with the card though. Another couple of days and then I should be able to relax, fingers crossed.
Donita I laughed out loud at your comment, you are spot on, if we were all together, friends or not, I'd happily commit murder to rule out the competition!
Elaine sorry to hear your laptop is still misbehaving but good to hear Andrew is doing well.
Izzy you are so fortunate to see deer so close to home, I'd be buying apples just to put out for them never mind windfall ones.
Oh Carmen I am so very sorry Jacob has lost his battle, may he rest in peace and may his family find the strength to cope with life without him. So sad., like Maureen it's flattened me. He touched my heart.
Love and hugs for all

ReplyDeleteHello Sue,
ReplyDeleteWow! What a beautiful card! It really is wonderful! Several friends have talked about seeing animals, like deer , in the wild and there is nothing to be compared with that! Sue , to create such a beautiful card with card and Inks is fantastic!
Our son and DIl have deer who wander into their garden for the windfall apples! I love watching them. We all do. Here, we have to make do with squirrels , hedgehogs and the occasional mallard!!
Carmen - I’m so very sorry Jacob lost his battle! It’s so very sad for one so young but his suffering is over ! My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends - including you.
Sorry everyone - trust you are all well!
Lots of love Myra ( Friend of Maureen) xxx

I think this is the most beautiful card I have ever seen. It reminds me of my many happy years in Canada when my George and I used to go looking at the deer so near to our home. Thank you so much Sue and have a lovely day.
