Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there my crafty friends!  I have a lovely star shaker card for today's card offering!  I started by cutting a star aperture out of a piece of antique gold card.  I embossed the background with the Twinkle Twinkle embossing folder to give it texture.  I prepared the star treat cup by adding some gold stars and some clear micro beads.  From a bit of trial and error, I learned that the stars are very static so if you add some micro beads, they will keep the stars from sticking to the treat cup and obscuring the design behind it.  I sealed it with a piece of acetate glued to the back, then inserted it to the aperture and taped the edges to the back of the card.  I cut the inside of the Poinsettia Star die in red and backed it in gold, then attached it behind the star treat cup.  I cut the outer ring of the star using both the cutting edges and glued it over the top of the treat cup.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it in gold, then cut it out with the Pierced Flag die.  I cut three poinsettias and coated the petals with Red Glitter Kiss.  I assembled them and added them around the star.  Gold Holly Swirl pieces were added as accents.  White, red and gold mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Leave me a comment if you would like a chance to win this one.  The drawing winner will be posted on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue, lovely for the giveaway.
Elaine, I hope Andrew manages to get some rest during his week at the caravan. It is really bad that the council are still putting cost before a tenants safety and security. Methinks you need big guns on your side, time for your MP to step up. Moving to another flat is not the answer for you.
Yvonne, lovely to see your post. I'm sorry that you are having all of these problems, there is nothing worse than not sleeping properly. Hope you feel better soon.
I too had a peek at the new launch, thanks Sam for the tip, it's delightful, now the excitement mounts.
Lesley spoke to work yesterday, she is taking my sick certificate in today, so they didn't ring me. We are supposed to keep in contact 1 per week, they are totally exceeding that. I may have to get in touch with the Union if this persists.
Kelly came over with Dave the puppy last night, he is such a curious little dog. We walked him round the close on his leader although I suspect Kelly was walking me more than him
Hugs to all especially our poorly and missing friends.

  3. Morning Sue, what a stunning card, love the whole card, the star is so pretty and the poinsettias with glitter kiss on them really set this card off. I've just git some red glitter kiss and will be using it on all my Christmas flowers. Thank you for the inspiration xx

  8. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a real Christmassy card today, lots of gold and sparkle, love it.

Yes Sue I have seen the new release, wow, I have already pre-ordered a couple that I simply MUST HAVE, yes what am I like......don't answer that.

Pam I reiterate all you have said, so pleased that Lesley is on the case for you, but I believe their policy of contact 1 a week is wrong, if you have a sick not for 3 weeks why should they want to talk to you in between times, that to me is harassment. So pleased you were able to have a little walk with Dave too. Hope you are feeling a little better today.

Off to Craft club today then we are all going out for lunch afterwards to celebrate my birthday which is on Sunday, looking forward to that.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  27. Hi Sue,
Beautiful, opulent and elegant card. It is stunning! Great tip about using the micro beads too - thank you.
Pam, glad that Lesley is on the case! I know when I had my knee done originally I was still teaching. I had a sick note for 3 months and every month I had to have a sickness review. The head did one of them on the phone which I later found out was out of order, the other two I had to go into school for them. My sicknote was extended for a couple of weeks and the head was awful about it and tried to bully me so I involved the union and I have to say, the bullying suddenly stopped and the head was really helpful!! He got the shock of his life when the union contacted him! It might work for you too , I hope so anyway. Just concentrate on getting better xx
Sending love and hugs to all, Alison xxx

  29. Dear Sue and the Lucky Few,

Is it the silky red poinsettias, the gold Holly Swirls, the tiny, well-adjusted (not clingy) stars in the treat cup, the embossed star background, the poinsettia star behind the treat cup or the rich gold, red and white that make this so joyous, so abundant, so promising of wishes fulfilled at Christmas? Yes! Somebody's going to get an early present this year.

I'm psyched to peek at the new collection. Here's a hint to newcomers: Click on the advertiser embedded in Sue's blog. Then look for new products or Sue's name.

Happy Birthday June Smith to you and your twin. I hope everyone gives you something from your wish list!

Glad to hear from Princess Pixie and that Dave is seeing to Grandma Pam's exercise level.

Marion Scott, you've coined a rallying cry: "Decisions will have to be made!"

    Love,
    Donita

  37. A gorgeous card. Very opulent indeed.

Oh yes Sue! Those stars are full of static as a trail of them in a certain craft room you know well can attest. I left a trail in the gym I frequent after making samples and had to apologise for brightening up their floor! They are worth the effort of using them though, as your card shows. I like the idea of adding microbeads in the treat cup, I guess the friction between the two products helps to keep them separate.

  93. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a gorgeously opulent design, classic Christmas colours working together with your fabulous dies to create a vision of loveliness. It is clear to me that i will have to invest in the star dies quick smart if i want to create similar pieces, i have almost all of your festive release now but these are sadly missing from my collection, not for long though! Good luck my fellow Wilsonettes, one of us is in for a real treat on Saturday, a sample that truly deserves to be framed and displayed with pride.
Ive had a couple of frantic days filled with shopping, GP appointment, a much needed hairdresser make over, opticians, friends popping by, the list goes on....i am currently avoiding cleaning the wooden floors by posting my comment having finally gotten my priorities right!
I am feeling pretty excited at the minute having just been informed by Yvonne that the new collection is on display for pre ordering....she does have her uses at times:-) I wont spoil the surprise for the likes of Izzy by giving the game away but i just have to say that there are a number of designs that i am ecstatic to see, the launch is going to be awesome! I am very concerned about the future state of my bank balance however, purchasing all of my desired pieces is surely going to bankrupt me....not only that, i will really have to prove to my Mum that i actually need more dies, a challenge considering this year has seen my craft room gathering dust as I struggle to find my mojo. I am hoping that some Christmas card creating will shake me from my malaise though, what better way to encourage you back into creating.
Pam, i am appalled by the attitude and practises of your managers, what is clearly a case of gross harassment cannot be allowed to happen when you have a valid sick note from your GP. Get in touch with your Union, you need to be able to recuperate without this interference....well done to your daughter for dealing with their bullying but she needs official help if it persists. Glad you were well enough to get a little fresh air with Dave, hopefully it will do you the world of good. Take care sweetiexxx
Frances, Yvonne and I seem to pass like ships in the night at the moment, miss the banter but even I cant bring myself to kick a dog when it is down:-), she clearly isnt up to any verbal volleyball at the minute, will have to bide my time until she is fighting fit again. How are the girls and Pippin doing at the moment?
Carmen, do you want to fill Yvonne's shoes whilst she is out of action? Can you stand the pace and severity or are you too much of a big girls blouse to cope?:-) Prehaps rather than relying on the unlikelihood of a lottery win to fund our die addiction, we should form an international crime cartel to raise the necessary funds.....i could be the Don and you could be my enforcer/henchman? Just a thought....
Myra, get you, trying to pretend that you actually have a social life:-) Hope that you are well honeyxxx
Elaine, thinking of you and your lovely familyxxx
Rosemary, good luck with the increase in your medication.
June, hope you had a lovely birthday lunchxxx
Sending hugs to my besties, including Yvonne, Donita, Maureen, Saba, Norah, Pat, Theresa, P, and many morexxx

    Love and crafty hugs

  109. Hi Sue,

Who won’t love to win this card? It has perfect colors and design. It is elegant and looks expensive. It has many details working beautifully together. I wish to be the winner of this stunning card and all I can say is that the lucky winner is going to be over the moon. Good luck all!

Marie – So sorry for your loss. 14 years ago, or a few days ago, the pain is still in a mother’s heart for the rest of her life. You always can share details of good and not so great moments of your life. You’ll find here many shoulders when you are down and we’ll be happy for you when you are happy. You sold the house … congratulations are in order, right? How do you feel? Happy, relived, sad?
Pam – Glad that Lesley is helping you. Hope you are feeling better today.
June – Hope you enjoyed your lunch out after craft club.
Elaine - Good to hear Andrew had a better day, hopefully today was better than yesterday. I am OK, thanks for asking. Some problems at work but nothing that I cannot handle (there are people trying to implement the rules that they grew up with in certain countries, that attitude: You do it because I said so, no questions to be asked.I always ask questions, if the result of a task will reflect on me and if I have to sign a documents. )
PP - Good to see you back, but sad that you are not well. Take care.
Laine – Oh, Laine, do you really think that I can fill Yvonne’s shoes? Coming from you is an honor. Some of ladies probably are jealous right now. Don’t worry ladies, I will decline this opportunity simply because I am not a princess like PP … and Laine, whatever... Maybe I want to be Don not your henchman? Why do you always dream about high positions only? Don’t bother to answer … because of your blue blood. How could I forget it? Sorry, your highness. (Just trying to make her feel better, ladies. I know she misses PP :). )

Hugs to all that may need one and to those who would like one.

  110. Hi Sue. Sorry I have not commented for a while. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE todays card !!! It is absolutely stunning Sue !!! The star dies and treat cup are so elegant looking, filled with the fab little sparkly stars and micro beads. I love the colours you have used to. Such a wonderful Traditional Christmas Card. I love the Twinkle star EF and the Poinsettia's with the sparkly red Glitter Kiss. I am loving the new Holly Swirls made from Gold card to. Today's card is really my kind of card. It is gorgeous Sue !!! Thank you for sharing. x x x
I have to just say that I really love yesterday's card to. The dies you have used look stunning, especially with the glitter. Really beautiful. A fab video to Sue. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Sending lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

Things have been very difficult, and I have felt very down. After loosing our beautiful doggie Fudge in February, then our beautiful puss cat Charlie in May, we were told our last remaining fur baby Charlie dog has lung cancer. I fell to pieces. A week later we were told the vet had got it wrong and our Charlie dog has a severe lung infection. Another two weeks later and we are now being told he has a suspected heart murmur to. It has been a real roller coaster ride and so difficult for us to try and carry on like normal with all this hanging over us. We now have another week to wait before he can have another, more in depth heart scan. The worry and stress has taken its toll on both of our illnesses, and as a result we have been struggling to keep up with every day life. x x x

Sending lots of love to everyone from Tres x x x

  121. I love this card Sue and may have a go at making one but I will wait until I'm old and then people will put all my errors down to my age! (lol. I was 86 last birthday)
So sorry for all your problems Pam. Karma will come to those who hurt you eventually.
CCM so pleased to get your comment. I was brought back to the land of my birth kicking and screaming as I had then been in Canada for 22 years and didn't want to leave. However I wont bore everyone with the whole story. I never thought that I would be moving again except in a wooden box.
I'm off to my card class this afternoon which I really enjoy. It's run by volunteers and is for those of us with blindness or low vision.I come and go by taxi but it's worth the cost. Next week I will have been back in England for 7 years WOW!
Healing thoughts and blessings to those who need them.

  124. Only those that are ready to be part of the new wave needs to be told this secret. Winning the lottery is divine, but you have to strive to all perfection and directions to win the lottery. Winning the lottery is one of the best thing in life, i am a lottery winner, but before i fall into the light , i had some very bad experience in playing the lottery, because my life was at stake and almost useless, then lottery seems to be the only means that come into my head, i played the lottery steadily over 5 years , but i could not win more than $300, but i always see people winning millions of dollars, and because of that i extended my search for victory. Along the line i was been misled, until i was searching for help online, then i found this powerful spell caster called Dr.Fabo. And he promise to help me win the lottery. I contacted Dr.Fabo and he did his normal work, after the spell and all i finally won the lottery of $15,000,000. I am a happy woman today because i am a millionaire, and every mature minded human, that wants to use this method to win the lottery as well should as well contact DR.Fabo without hesitating.
