Thanks For Being My Friend

Good Sunday morning all!  Every once in awhile, I just get the urge to do some ribbon plaiting so here it is on today's card.  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I added my silver and black ribbon plait to the bottom of the card and taped the ends to the back.  I added a double bow with a black crystal sparkler to the centre and matching stick pins.  There is a tutorial at the top of the blog if you want to see how the plaiting is done or there is a Youtube video on our channel with the link to the channel on the right hand side of the blog.  For the focal element, I cut the Sumatra in silver mirror card and cut it in half.  I cut the Java in white and backed it in silver then seated it on a black cut out from the Bali and a white cut out from the Sumatra.  The silver cut half was added to the edges and the entire piece was attached to the card with foam.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with sticky adhesive sheet, then attached the black frame over it which was cut from the Sumatra dies.  The exposed adhesive was coated with Diamond Sprinkles and the piece was added to the centre of the card. I used two pearl corners as accents on the top of the card.  White, silver and black mats completed the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.

  1. Lovely card Sue, gorgeous ribbon plaiting.
Congratulations to comment game winners. Yvonne you have to see this, your name in lights.
Crewe Trish have a safe journey home, you won't be sorry to leave that heat behind.
Elaine, I hope Andrew has improved and can go fishing, it will help him relax. Your nurse raised a good point, they wouldn't just incur a hefty fine. H & S wise, they would be liable for you to sue for compensation too, maybe you can add that to your MP complaint, although the point is you have to be safe and it has to be convenient for you. I'm glad you have had some peace at night time, let's hope it lasts.
Myra, yes Carmen is on vacation, not sure if she has gone home to Romania to see her family, she usually does. She is a big miss too.
Rosemary, my fingers are tightly crossed for good results for you. The puppy hasn't been too well but the Vet has checked him out and given him anither injection and he is improving. He has quickly taken over the household, and even Meg, the staffie is starting to come round. The boys are fine and go away with their Dad and all his family on the 11th to the lakes for a holiday. They should enjoy that.
Donita, hope you had a brilliant day yesterday, I'm sure you would enjoy the atmosphere, the smells, the tastes, oh I'm there in my mind.
Hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends.

  37. Dear Sue and Loyal Retinue,

This one oozes elegance. I wish I could lend out my Jacobean Floral ef in exchange for a falling snow one. Maybe if we were on the same continent.

Nice to see you back, Beverly Fuchs. Was missing you for a while.

Hooray for the winners! Princess Pixie, maybe this will perk you up!

The food truck experience was fun. I was smart to take a couple of ibuprofens before it started, although I only worked an hour. Then had to rush back and write, but I did order some brisket. You'll have to watch the video to see how I liked it. You can find a link to the article and video on my Facebook page. Or go to www.providencejournal.com, click on the little search magnifying glass and search for my name.

They let me call the number out the window and hand the customers their food. With some of them, it was a good thing I had food, because if I didn't, my arm might have come back with no hand. I was surprised how they could communicate by where they stood and by moving forward when I called their number. And how I could designate a group to hear me by calling out the number to only that distance away. One young man apparently didn't know his number, but he was fully aware of his country of origin, emblazoned with a big red maple leaf on his t-shirt, because when I yelled, Hey Canada! he woke up and came forward.

You know how you guys can spot an American in a crowd, even if they don't speak, just by the clothes and bearing? I was pretty sure I had just handed a European his dinner, so I said, "Welcome to Rhode Island, I hope you enjoy your stay." His answer had a German accent.

So I didn't get to visit the other trucks. If I had, I would have been in too much of a stupor to write.

And I'd do another story like this, although not when the air show comes to town.

May you find your Sunday rejuvenating.

I will dream of barbecue gilding polish and ribs cut in mirror card.

    Love,
    Donita

  89. Beautiful card Sue. I haven't tried ribbon plaiting. Something I will have to remedy. Thank you for sharing this. Didn't sleep at all well last night so hoping for better night. Echoing Pam's comments. Congratulations to the comment winners.
