Home Is Where The Heart Is

Hi bloggers!  It is time for a Stamp To Die For creation!  I just love how realistic these strawberries look, don't you!  I started by embossing the background with the Beaded Fanfare embossing folder for texture.  I decided to use the same Stamp To Die For (STDF) Strawberry Patch to add some interest to the bottom portion of the background.  I stamped it randomly all across the bottom in Black Archival ink and then sprayed it with glue and glittered it with Diamond Snow.  I then added a black strip of card between the two sections.    I stamped the STDF called Strawberry Patch in black and cut it out with the matching Cape Verde die.  I used Distress markers to colour the images, then highlighted them with a white pencil to add depth.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the inside  die from the Atlantic Ocean tag due set and mounted it with foam in the upper corner.  I tied a messy bow out of thin black satin ribbon and added it with a black crystal sparkler in the centre.  White and black mats and layers were added to complete the card  The finished dimensions are 6" x  6 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Beautiful card Sue,really lovely. Julia did a sterling job demoing your dies last night. She showed a Sue card in black and white with cosmic shimmer and pixie powders, I missed the first show, had my daughter and Twins to see me so I will have to watch on catch up as it was girgeous.
Welcome baxk Laine, we have misse you. You have been through the mill, first your eyes and then the surgery. I'm glad to hear you are on the mend, take care of yourself, we missed you.
Rosemary,as bad as your final diagnosis is, I know it is a lot better than you feared. With medication and a little care you can lead a reasonably normal life. Although I can't see you planning to have babies lol. Take card my friend.
Donita, what a day you had, that would make a good storyline on a comedy show. Hooe the day eventually got better for you.
Fluffycat, I know what you mean about holidays with your husbands stroke. I'm sure you enjoy yourself with him at home.
Maria hope your surgeries help resolve your painful problems. My friend has fibromyalgia and she is in a bad way at the moment. Hooe fir better days for you soon.
Elaine, hope your new neighbour settles in and is a good neighbour. Hopefully now the door situation will be resolved. If not you will have an ally to help your case. Glad that Andrew and Mary are well enough for their treatments.
Sharon, hope you feel better soon. My bug turned out to be a very nasty migraine, haven't had one for over 20 years. I was so weary yesterday after the night before that I slept most of the day but thankfully it seems to be fading today. Thank you so much for well wishes everyone, they really do help you know.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends and our returnees, great to see you back.

  18. Dear Sue and Best Blog Commenters,

Luscious strawberry card! Your coloring does make them look real. And so clever to stamp them without coloring for the background, even though you had only a corner stamp for your all-over pattern.

Strawberries are so wonderful. They hang on the plant like ruby earrings. I almost bought this STDF but wasn't wild about the Cape Verde.

This sentiment would be great for the door/window cards. Maybe inside the card if it's too big for the front.

Laine, so glad you prevailed like a ninja against all the opponents that attacked you. The one with the heap of groaning warriors behind her, that's Laine.

Rosemary Powell, what a relief! You have a life warrant. A future of wellness to enjoy. I would have reeled, too, and probably for months, but you rallied in a day. Wow.

Tuesday's brain fog got my attention, along with not managing to get to work Wednesday. So I made an appointment.

Glad the migraine released its grip on you Pam. Still a few unstructured days to enjoy.

Wishing you all the best, Maria Alder.

The BBC keeps saying it's going to be 50 degrees C in Baghdad. Looked it up. It's 122 F.

    Whew!

    Love,
    Donita

  94. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I stand in awe, as always, at your colouring skills...you really succeed in bringing to life the images you undertake, these strawberries are particularly succulent and juicy, very tempting and good enough to gorge on:-) The Stamps to Die for range is a real must have to compliment the corresponding dies, i really like this one, it has created a lovely monochrome panel on this card that looks great contrasted with the coloured diecut. A truly beautiful card Sue, be proud of your skills:-)
I am really touched by the lovely response to my post yesterday, i had no idea that so many would have noticed my absence, never mind cared! Thankyou for the well wishes and to those who were so overcome that they claimed to have missed me!!??!?.....yes Myra and Carmen, I was caught off guard, nay, rendered speechless, i won't let it go to my head though because normal bitchy comments will follow no doubt in all good time:-)
I bet you are all wondering how my babies are faring of late, well, Darcey, as befits a princess, has been a real angel of late and not kept me awake at all hours of the night meaning that the bags under my eyes are just about handbag proportions so happy days!
Brodie on the otherhand, is another kettle of fish altogether.....he has taken it upon himself to singlehandedly decimate the entire local bird population. Yes, nothing fazes him, size of bird presents little competition in his quest, yes, we've had everything brought for our inspection. Tonight his trophy was a little sparrow, don't cry though, it was gratefully alive and retrieved by my Mum....she stroked it till it regained its confidence and flew off to safety, yah!!! Some aren't quite as lucky though it has to be said in his defence that most of them are, the other week we arrived home from Stirling tired and laden with bags only to find a fully grown magpie in our kitchen frantically trying to get out the window to its mate! Apart from a bit of bird poo there was no sign of injury or struggle and we managed to set it free but how Brodie managed to catch it in the first place is beyond me due to its size. It has to be said that he is working overtime to prove his usefulness:-)
Pam, glad you're feeling better, migraines are a real nightmare, i do hope that you have had a restful break otherwise though. Hugs
Rosemary, thanks for your kind thoughts, much appreciated:-) Please give your meds time, it takes awhile to adjust to using them but it will be worth the effort because if you can stabilise the seizures during the day then you will get your licence back:-)
Myra, i know it must have been hard for you in my absence but you coped admirably:-) How is Maureen? Is she still driving George to distraction?
Donita, a ninja you say? I quite like that image, I'm ready to kick a##! Would you like to be one of my warriors? Despite your odd behaviour yesterday which i am prepared to overlook, i think you would make a fine lieutenant:-)
Carmen, i am surprised to hear that you missed me, absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder....AND you remembered my royal status!:-)
Yvonne, your excuses not to talk to me are wearing thin now, I'm starting to think that you don't love me anymore:-(
Hugs to all my blog bestiesxxx

    Love and crafty hugs

  97. Hello Sue,
A really scrummy card!! Internally looks good enough to eat , well, the strawberries do! It's a lovely design and a beautiful card.
Not much earlier but I am in bed!! That's progress!
Pam - sorry about the migraine! For me, headache isn't often the first sign of my migraine! They aren't nice though! I think you are a bit stressed! You then have a holiday and relax and wham! - the migraine strikes! Hope you feel better now.
Laine - I don't know how you cope with all these bird gifts!! A magpie isn't a small bird as you say. Glad you got it out without too much damage to kitchen or bird! Take care young lady!!
Maureen is fine - as ever she is busy but fine!
    I'm going to sleep now!
    Night Night all,
Love Myra ( Friend of Maureen!) xxx

  103. Good morning Sue and all followers.
I love this card but as soon as I read it I was transported back to Canada so I guess that is still where my heart is even though I have been back in England almost 7 years now.
If anyone has read my previous comments you will know that my house is on the market so I'm trying to keep it tidy. Yesterday I actually got out some of my new dies and had a cutting spree. Maybe today I'll do some more and wont feel so useless.
    Good wishes to all
    Marie
