Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  Today's card giveaway is a bit different in that I used the Elegant Cross die to make the background (did you spot it?).  I cut a bunch of the cross out of coconut white card.  I covered another piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet, then peeled the backing paper off and attached the crosses so were alternating a bit across the card.  The remaining exposed sticky areas were covered with Diamond Sprinkles.  Next I used the outer die from the Sumatra set and cut an aperture in the centre.  I added mounting foam to raise the background piece and attached it over a piece of papyrus card. I cut the Sumatra die in white using both the decorative pieces.  I added a black oval backing to the centre section, then recessed it down into the shape in the aperture.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the set and I added a papyrus mat from the same oval cut in half.  I attached it with foam to the centre of the card.  I used the Sweet William die set and made two flowers using the scrunching technique.  I added them around the aperture, seating the larger flower on a satin ribbon bow and Whimsical Leaves as accents.  I made two matching stick pins and added them to the larger flower.  White, black and Papyrus mats and layers were added.  The Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/4" in size.  leave a comment to be entered into the drawing to win this one.  All for now, Sue x

Carmen, good news that the Kid is home and well, hope they get his pain under control soon. Fingers crossed that the pathology tests go well. Hope you are feeling less tired now.

Yvonne, sorry you are still struggling, take it easy until you feel better.
Pat hope Billy had a lovely birthday, hope today is not too painful for him, ouch ouch.
Norah, do you know, I can't ever remember my parents having birthday cakes either. It was always fir the kids.
Saba, it is my daughters favourite saying, it means out of the mouth before the brain engages. She even said it to her boxer dog one day he looked so puzzled then gave his head a great shake, so funny.
June, a result with the new laptop, well done, shame on BT, I keep my email separate from my broadband account.
Elaine, hope all is well with you, John, Andrew and Heken.

  4. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, yes a stunning card as a giveaway, what a keepsake for someone.

Pam I reiterate al you have said, hope work gets sorted soon.

Off to my craft group this morning and then have our eldest granddaughter with us for a couple of hours, she is doing her GCSE's at the moment, she only has one exam today so Colin will pick her up at 10:30, I should get to see her for a few hours before her Mum is home.

My BT emails started to come through again - don't know why but will see how it goes, I know they will stop them soon. It seems as though lots of you on here have had the same problem with emails, not only BT but other providers as well.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  33. Really lovely card for the giveaway, Sue, no - didn't guess the cross was used for the background, clever. Do like the papyrus card, must get some. Great design with, hooray, stick pins, should get round to making more as only have reds unused.
Still broadband problem; himself checked speeds, down to 0.4 which is almost unusable. Have to wait at least two minutes for any connection.
Tres, you should be proud of 'bringing up' Charlie to blossom as a proper cat after his feral start. A very special cat. Yes, we are the slaves!!
Didn't want to seem trivial in these troubling times by yattering on about Yeti (Viz as was), but he is here and will remain so. The tom smell has receded and hopefully the lack of testosterone will make him less combative. Both my half-mile neighbours who have other cats (we're at the corners of a big triangle) were horrified at the prospect of him being on the loose again and one has sadly not seen her little cat since the last attack, so now he is in a big pen and run for everyone's safety. He has an outdoor section 12' x 6' with toys and a big picnic table, indoor 9' x 6' with a choice of beds and sleeping platforms + ensuite. Yes, I know it's not ideal but until he calms down it's how things will be. My own cats are also terrified of him too, he really created havoc - but he only wanted food and was staking out a new territory for whatever unknown reason.
Anyway, he's calmed somewhat, still hisses and spits and eats his food swearing and saying ung-yung-yung at the same time, but he does now roll on his back with tummy in the air and rubs against furniture. Yes, am a wee bit scared of him - he jumps up to grab the food dish, so yesterday held it high in the air and he leapt and grabbed me at waist height! Klingon. Had a padded jacket on - should be a permanent fixture ha!! Do love him, though, what a character and he has great potential - hope he ends up as friendly as Charlie Puss. Have known and cared for many ferals over the years but he is definitely one of a kind. He is told every day that he truly is abominable! So, a relative calm prevails for the moment. Promise I won't say so much in future, sorry for boring anyone.
Pam, all well said, so echoing as usual.
    Hugs.

  49. Dear Sue and Crafty Folk,

I remember this card, or one like it, from the launch. Just realized that without the stick pins there would be no green.

Really liked hearing about Charlie Puss and Yeti.

Crewe Trish, be gentle with yourself and accept the kindnesses offered to you. Loss takes a lot out of a person.

Thanks for the news sbout Laine and Yvonne.

So if you all come to the U.S. next June for our stamp convention in Mass., you'll have to share a room.

Best of Wednesday's to you all.

'P' - thanks for the update on Yeti. It sounds like he has a 5-star hotel suite with everything to make him happy. I do think that seclusion is probably the best thing until he clams down and it will also give your cats a chance to become used to him (if they dare to go near lol). I think you are a marvel looking after so many waifs, strays and ferals. So sorry for your neighbour though who is still missing her little one, paws crossed that she turns up soon.

Ahhhhh, no I did not spot that you used the cross die. Very clever. At first glance, I was thinking the background die "border" was very pretty and interesting. Then I started reading your description. Surprised I was. Your Diamond Sprinkled base background shows this pairing of the multiple cross cut outs and background just perfectly. Beautiful card design. And your greeting "You're So Sweet" is so appropriate with the use of your "Sweet William" flower. This card really would like to live at my house!

Crewe Trish – Sending you and your Mum gentle hugs.I keep you in my prayers.
Pam – Today I feel almost normal, if normal means to survive with less medicine than the days before. On Friday and Saturday was very cold in the office so I barely could move on Sunday because of the pain on my right side: ear, head, shoulder and neck. Instead to get paid for working on Saturday I got pain (one letter makes a huge difference) :)

  112. Hi Sue. Although I have seen you do the background technique many times before, for some reason I can't take my eyes off this one. I think it is because of the interesting shapes that the crosses have made. It is just so pretty. Love the rest of the card too.

  119. Hello Sue,
I'm rather late today as it has been a busy one! I know Pam and others deal with all of these things in the middle of the night but I can't!! Lol!
What a lovely card! How often have I said that! Answers on a postcard - no prizes!!
To even think of using a Die of a cross in this way is astonishing to me but most effective! Love the Sweet William flowers with the matching Sentiment! You don't just throw these cards together do you!?! Sue, you are a clever lady!
You must all think I'm such a snob - careful now! It's the " dark glasses" , " Poundshop" , etc! Just ignore my lovely friends. They tease a lot but a better bunch of friends - who met through this blog - you couldn't meet !! Now - about this swimming lark! No way Jose!! I hope the idea sinks without trace!
Nanna tina - lovely to have you back! Sad times ahead but with your help they will get through them.
Donita - I'm coming too! Someone needs to keep Maureen in check! Lol!
Elaine - I was thinking of you and John today - hope everything went well.
Pam - whatever would we do without you! ? I can't get up at 6am!!! X
Carmen - still praying for the Kid!
    Love to everyone Myra xxx

  122. Hello Sue,
What a fabulous card today, someone is going to be a very happy bunny. Your background using the cross is just gorgeous, and the use of the papyrus for your flowers and behind your Sumatra die is a lovely choice of colour. Adding a stick pin, a bow and a bit of bling and you've definitely achieved a WOW card! Love it. Good luck to everyone in the draw.
P- your tales of how Yeti is getting on are anything but boring! I'm loving hearing about him. You are amazing.
Julie Laz Happy Birthday for tomorrow.
Carmen, Yippee enjoy your Samantha, she really is beautiful.
Elaine hope all went well with John's ECG.
Donita I don't mind sharing a room! We dab have a pyjama party.
Nana Tina sending you a gentle hug.
Well I see Maureen has let the cat out of the bag about our synchronised swimming project. I only asked for a thong because I thought it would add interest, honestly she's one to talk, she wears red silk bloomers! Ask any of the gang and they confirm it!
Myra is right, we tease each other relentlessly but only ever in fun and I count my blessing that they are now a big part of my life.
    Love and hugs for all
    Saba xxxx
Crewe Trish you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  123. As I've stated about other cards on which you use the stick pins. . . I love them! This card is so sweet (with the sweet sentiment and the Sweet Wlliam die set). Did you plan that, or was it a coincidence? Very clever! I must admit that I did not pick up on the fact that you had used the Elegant Cross die to make the background, but it works beautifully on this very sweet card. Thank you for sharing your talent, creativity and love of card making.

  124. Hi Sue. WOW, WOW, WOW !!!! A stunning, Sue Wilson classic card !!! I think it is absolutely gorgeous Sue !!! Your Sumatra die, along with the rest of this particular collection is right at the top of my huge wish list. I am patiently waiting for it to be on Hochanda so I can buy it on the Flexipay. I know I don't have very long to wait now. I think this new collection is going to be one of my most favourite of all your country / ocean collections. I adore the soft, rounded die shapes and their gorgeous curly, swirly designs. Such an attractive collection. I do love the background you have created with the cross die and the diamond snow glitter to. Just beautiful !!! I really like your new Sweet William flower dies but I am afraid right at this moment the Succulent Flower dies are top of list. I have your new Whimsical leaves and they are fab Sue. I love your colour combo with the Papyrus, and you have made some beautiful stick pins to finish !!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous card today. Sending lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments about Charlie puss. I just wanted to tell everyone what a truly amazing cat he finally became. I am sorry if I went on a bit. The reason we had to name him Charlie puss was because when myself and my other half got together, one of his two dogs was also called Charlie !!! It was to late to change our pets names so they became Charlie doggie and Charlie puss !!! As you can imagine there was much confusion in our house most of the time. Our beautiful Charlie dog is the only one left now. He is a long legged Parsons Russell. ( Jack Russell.) He looks identical to Harvey doggie on the adverts. Very cute looking but oh so naughty too !!! Sending lots of love to everyone from Tres x x x

  125. Very pretty card again today. At first glance, didn't notice it was the Cross dies. It truly is a beautiful card. I think the stick pins just finish this card. Oh to be so talented! Every thing always goes together so beautifully. Just wish I could come play in your craft room!
