Hi crafters! I have two Porthole cards for you today. They are both ever so simple so I thought I would combine them in a single post so you would have a bit more to have a peek at today. I used some decorative papers from my stash for both cards today too. I used the round treat cup on the first card (the pic is a bit shadowed so it looks like it opens, but it doesn't.) I filled in using the accessory set and added a small piece of natural hessian (or burlap for my non UK blog friends) as an accent. The finished dimensions are 7" x 7 1/2" in size. Scroll down for card number two.
For card number two I used the Rope Chain embossing folder on a piece of kraft card for the top of the background. I cut out the Porthole and added it over a lightly inked cloudy background with my sailboat and waves. I glued this to the upper portion of the card. I cut a piece of jute and tied a sort of nautical knot in them and glued it as a border between the decorative paper (with the cutest nautical stripes on it!) and the embossed background. I added my accessory dies and sentiment to the lower portion of the card. The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size. I think both of these cards would be perfect for the men in our lives or anyone that loves a nautical theme too! All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteNannaTina, glad your daughter had a lovely 18th, she has been through a lot lately as have you all but daughters and fathers have a social bond. With you to guide her she will get through this but take time fir yourself too. Belated wishes to your grandson too.
Donita, I too would love to see your convention, sounds amazing.
Elaine, hope all went well for John, big family hugs to you all.
Myra, I set off for work just after 6, that's why I post early, it's normal fir me. Lol.
Maureen, well done you, you are coming on leaps and bounds, just don't try them. Synchronised swimming, I'll pass on that one, water doesn't like me. Technically can swim, in the pool just can't do it.
Julie Laz have a lovely birthday, hope you get lots of lovely dies or money to choose your own.
Pat hope Billy's day wasn't too painful yesterday.
Carmen, that was very clever, paid and pain, never thought if that. Hope Kid is still making progress.

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue. Two fantastic samples this morning, especially for the awkward males in our lives and those who love anything to do with sailing, it's so clever too that this collection can be used for the little boys and the bigger boys that still act like little boys and I'm almost certain we ALL know of one of those right ? 😑 although I mention the male species, there are also quite a few young girls and women that enjoys sailing especially with the Duke of Edinburgh awards where sailing is enjoyed plus those remarkable groups of people that do sailing for disabled children, so all in all Sue, this die collection like all the other's you've designed are so very versatile and useful in so many ways.I may have rambled somewhat but I think these samples and dies deserve it ☺

ReplyDeleteDear Nautical Sue and all across the Ocean Blue,
Please add me to the long line of those admiring that knot. Wow!
Love how puffed out the sails look, and It's nice that we know how to make a fluffy cloud sky now.
Also nice to know the British name for burlap and Jack Russell terrier.
From what I've seen, your Ally Pally convention is bigger than ours in Mass. For example, we don't have Creative Expressions or Sue Wilson at ours.
Happy Birthday, Julie Laz!!!
Happy Thursday, everyone!
Love,
Donita
Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, wonderful samples today, love the nautical knot you have done on it.
ReplyDeletePam I reiterate everything you have said above, and send lots of healing hugs to everyone who needs them.
Stay safe, heathy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, both of them. And thank you for sharing these little, but important tips on how to make a lightly clouded sky which looks VERY realistic. And the sails on that sailing boat have really got the wind in them!
Hugs, Rose
Love both of these.
ReplyDeleteI love nautical cards and they make wonderful male cards, from little boys to grandpas. I have the nautical set and have certainly had my monies worth out of this as I have used it so much for both cards and little accessories.\

Both great cards, perfect for men. Whichever way you vote Wilsonettes, don't forget to vote today! People fought hard for our right to vote and if we don't use our democratic right, we can't complain at what we end up with!

Julie Laz - happy birthday, hope you have a lovely day.
Crewe Trish, thinking of you and the family.
Carmen - hope the Kid is improving.
NannaTina, congratulations to your daughter on her 18th, it will have been a day of mixed emotions. Thinking of you all.
June S - glad you are getting sorted with your new PC.
Donita - you are missing the point, Ally Pally doesn't have you or your friends!!!
Elaine, glad all went well for John and hope his results come soon. Good luck to Andrew. If ever I was stupid enough to really try swimming there is no doubt I'd never surface again, it's just the mad ideas we dream up when talking to each other. Honestly, they are all such good friends and we support each other, even though we rib one another such a lot.
'P' your hubby is a handy man to have, I can make some pretty impressive knots, granny, reef, oh the list is endless lol.
Yvonne, hope you are feeling a bit better.
Laine, missing you.
Have a good day ladies, love to all.

ReplyDeleteTwo great cards for us today, it's good to see how they can be adapted. I like the knot embelleshment, it finishes off a treat. Elaine – Hope Andrew got good news. Fingers crossed for John's results.

Frances – I have lots of ideas how to use my new set of dies. I am sure my Samantha won’t disappoint me.
Maureen – I love your idea with synchronized swimming team!
'P' in Wales - Your hubby can be the coach ... if you trust the gang of nine :)
Pam – Are you interested in being an assistant coach (to wake them up early). It’s not going to be an easy task. I read somewhere “Waking up before 8 am should be illegal” – I agree!
PP & Maria – Your handsome boys are the ideal candidates as lifeguards... :)
Myra – Close your eyes and imagine some fine young lads semi naked saving you! Are still saying NO?
Saba – Yes! Yippee! I did my happy dance when I saw Samantha! It’s time for the Happy Friday dance!(across the pond, here it is still Thursday).
Latest news- the Kid is doing better by the day. He says hi and thank you for the prayers to everyone.
