You Are So Special

Hi crafters!  I have a striplet creation for you today!  I started with a piece of milk card and used the outer decorative cutting die from the Lotus Striplet to cut two designs into the background.  I backed it with black card, then cut the inside sections of both out to create two aperture openings.  I backed it with mounting foam to raise it for dimension.  Next I used the inside decorative die from that set and cut three pieces out of papyrus card.  I backed each of the pieces with black and added mounting foam to them. I attached each section to the card between the openings.  Next I used another piece of Papyrus card and embossed it with the Dot Matrix embossing folder for texture.  I seated the background over it and added a thin black mat.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags die set, giving it a black matting.  I attached it across the card giving it a bit of a bow to the shape using mounting foam to hold it in place.  Using just the striped outline die from the Striped Nasturtiums, I created several flowers out of black card and seated them to the left end of the sentiment strip.  I cut the Family Tree out of milk card and used the leaves as accents for the flowers.  I made two matching stick pins as accents and added pearls to the striplet die areas.  I completed the card with milk, papyrus and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Stunning card Sue, love the flowers and stick pins.
Happy Birthday Laine if you are looking in. Age is just a number they say, yet to be convinced but you still have a few years to go before you catch me. Have a great day, sorry you are not feeling good at the moment.
Yvonne, nice to have you back, hope your Mum is okay after her fall.
Rosemary, so happy to hear Dylan is well, I know you will be overjoyed.
Elaine, hope the tummy bug has subsided, love to you,Andrew and Helen.
Alimecca, that was a nasty fall, you must gave been so frightened lying there in the cold with no help, dreadful amount of time fir an ambulance to arrive. Glad you seem to be feeling better, not much fun looking forward to another op though.
Dragonsnap, we used to have a Triumph Stag about 40 years ago, loved it, such a beautiful car.
Patricia, remembering all the early MGBs we had in the sixties, if you didn't have a sire back when you got in you had one when you got out, suspension was non existent but good fun.
Daily hugs to all, our poorly and missing friends, our ladies with their rally wheelies, Maureen what have you started. Take care all.

  6. Morning Sue. Am I having a Deja vue experience if not then why is this gorgeous sample so memorable ? I love the way you give us so many ideas how to use your Striplet collections, these samples are so useful for crafters like myself that don't have the vision - unlike many talented fb buddies that see a die then see many card designs coming from one set, i just cant do that, i dont have that artistic part of the brain so having your inspiration along with the lovely talent im around on various SWCE fb groups im hoping to start and learn from what I see - starting here ☺
Thank you for this lovely sample and for your inspiration every day.
Sending love n hugs your way xx

  7. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a very pretty card today, and the leaves from the tree die set really do work well on here.

Pam I reiterate everything you have said above.

Wow we certainly had some rain yesterday evening and night, sky looks much better this morning, yes I know the garden needs it.

  10. Unusual card in colour and design, Sue, and really like it. Almost has an Oriental feel with the vertical panels.
As usual, echoing Pam. Alison - what a tough time you've had, sending all good wishes.
Nice to see you back PP now where's Laine? Think may have missed you both a little.

  16. Hi Sue,
I really like this one and without the floral decoration and bow it would be ideal for those pesky male cards. I love the colour combination you've chose as well.
Thank you all for your concern and good wishes yesterday and today - I really appreciate it. I was very scared at the time and really don't want another op especially as my original knee replacement was so good and this new one probably won't give me as much bend in my knee as it's hinged, therefore more rigid but I don't have a choice. Maureen , you did make me laugh yesterday! I'm not sure you'd want me tied on - we'd both probably end up on the pavement!!
Love and hugs to everyone, Alison xxx

  20. Dear Sue and Wilsonettes,

LOVE this card! Especially how good the stripes from the Nasturtiums look in black with the Family Tree leaves in white. I hadn't noticed that the first time you posted this card. What I noticed that time was that I didn't have the Lotus striplet. Still don't, but my resistance is wearing thin.

BIG NEWS!!! My gift from the Comment Game arrived today, and there were no rules about keeping the contents secret. So here it is: a sheet of unmounted rubber from Creative Expressions, called Spring Flowers. It has drawings of the Bluebell, Primrose, Magnolia and Cowslip blooms, plus those names, and the sentiments Friends Forever, Mum, Happy Mother's Day, With Sympathy and If Friends were Flowers, I'd pick You.

Although if I were writing that sentiment, I'd avoid the implication that you would die shortly after being picked by me.

Carmen, I used to order all my SW dies on eBay from a seller in England. Once he divided my order among three identical envelopes and mailed all three together. I got two of them very quickly and one took about a month. He said the Royal Mail is ultimately reliable, but occasionally one package gets inexplicably delayed.

I can't believe Laine is 55. Apparently there's something to those excrement facials, because she doesn't look a minute over 28. Unless someone is messing with us, Yvonne.

It's so funny to hear all these grandmothers talking about sports cars!

    Happy Thursday, dear friends.

    Love,
    Donita

  68. Hello Sue,
You did a sort of variation on this one at the end of February because I bought the Die as a result. It was two strips instead of three and simpler in design if my memory serves me right! Today's card is beautiful and I love the many ways you have used the Die set. Colours too I love and of course the corsage too. Gorgeous!
When I was young we used to talk about " Granny on her Scooter!" We are talking Grandmas in Sports Cars here! Our last one was a white MGB! Those were the days! Did anyone else wear a white silk headscarf!! We even used to put a carrycot in ours with a baby inside!! It was pretty wedged in - baby not carrycot!! No Elf N Safety then. It's quite frightening actually!
Happy Birthday Laine - you don't look a day over 90,,, . Miss you! With remarks like that you won't ever come back! It's just fun but you know that! Have a lovely day.
Have a good day everyone whether on two legs or four wheels! Now that's made me think of " Three wheels on my wagon!"

  69. Hello Sue,
I just love today's card. Everything about it "sings", and what a wonderful tune it is!!! The colours, dies, stick pins, flowers, everything is perfect.
Pam, I was a 2 wheeler babe with a scooter in my youth. When I washed my hair and I was going to a dance I'd sit having my tea wearing my crash helmet to flatten my hair (this was in the days before back combing and big hair)! Hope you are feeling fine today.
PP, oh Lord, you have your tablet back already and we were enjoying ourselves so much when you were out of the loop!!! Welcome back, I look forward to reading your inane comments lol. Have a great time with your friends - it's such a surprise to find out that you have some ha ha.
Alimecca, the idea is to tie you to the wheelie so that if we land up on the pavement, you'll go down first and give me a soft landing ha ha. Seriously, watch that knee and take it easy.
Elaine, don't you worry, I'll fire up the red silk bloomer balloon and be over your place in no time. I have special abseiling ropes and can scoot down with the wheelie really fast!!
Laine, 55? Come back soon, we need someone who can sort out Yvonne. Good heavens, you're just a baby. I wish I was 65 never mind 55 and remember if Myra can still do things at her age, well there's hope for us all ha ha. (oh oh, I've really gone and done it!)
Love to all, especially those who are poorly or lonely and their carers.

Beautiful card showing the versatility of your dies. Without the flowers, and stick pins, it can be used as a male card as well. The sentiment bounces back to you Sue, you are so special for all of us. Thank you for the inspiration.

Laine - Happy B-day! Wherever you are, whatever you do, I hope you are healthy and happy. Enjoy your special day!

Donita - Thank you for sharing with us what you got as a gift. I always thought the prize is a card, I was wrong.
JS is not using a trackable service for small orders, it is too expensive. I told them that I am willing to wait a little bit longer but from their experience the parcel supposed to be with me by now, that why they decided to send another one.
BTW PP is … PP! Don’t listen to her, Laine is not 55! She is younger than most of us (maybe not younger than you).
Myra, Maureen - I am disappointed, but I am not complaining about JS’s people, they are always willing to help. Long way from there to here; things happen. I hope to get the order soon.
PP – Welcome back. When you said 55 you were talking about you, right? :)

  80. Afternoon Sue
Gorgeous gorgeous and gorgeous again. What an ingenious use of the lotus striplet. I am loving the colour combination and this could so easily be tweaked to make a card for those pesky awkward men!
I always opt for 'pretty' colours for ladies cards but this proves that even the more neutral shades can make equally striking cards. I have been asked in the past to make a ladies card accompanied by the instructions she's not a pinky girly girl!! This would be perfect x
Fabulous Sue - You are so special - I know I speak for everyone when I say that your commitment and dedication to this blog is appreciated more than you know x
I was supposed to be going out for a walk - pushing Marjorie to the shops. She is struggling with 2 cracked ribs and being 95 she is not getting out. Unfortunately rain has stopped play - do here I am - bright and early (for me anyway)!
All you girls reminiscing over your wheels is fascinating. I always think of the scene from the Bridget Jones film - a very realistic portrayal of what happens when one tries to look glamorous and sophisticated in a convertible - hilarious x
Pam - wow - the powers that be where you work sound like a bunch of idiots (that's the polite version of what I think)! Mam is chirpy although fed up. She was on her way home from a check up on her shoulder replacement when she slipped in the market - on a blueberry! Wrist broken in 2 places. My 3 year old niece has told people her nanny tripped over a blueberry - I know things are bigger in Newcastle but blueberries big enough to trip over is a new one on me x
P - go on admit it - you've been pining for me x
Alison - you've been in the wars. You're going to be like the bionic woman. Hugs x
    Donita - me - messing -pfff!! x
Elaine - or should I say Evil Knievil! You be careful - L plates may be wise x
Tracy - doesn't Laine look good for her age x
Crafty Jo - you go girl - a bit of disgrace is always fun x
Maureen - despite your best efforts to put me off I'm back. I have so many friends that I have to ration my time between them x
Carmen - are you doubting me? Thought we were friends! Trust is the basis of any relationship x
Laine - prepare yourself hun I'll phone you later. After all a phone call from yours truly will be the highlight of your day. At your age I know early bedtime is a necessity so it won't be late. Hope you are having a lovely day x
I have noticed there are quite a few gang members missing. Sending happy thoughts and lots of love to each and every one of you especially absent friends and my blog besties x
I am off to meditate and mentally prepare for the ominous task ahead of me - my acting skills really are put to the test during those phone conversations with Laine. Do you know how hard it is trying to sound excited and interested in someone else whilst fighting the urge to doze off. Wish me luck. Lol x
    Take care

What a great card today, I do like a striplet card. The flowers are gorgeous but without them you gave a good base for a mans card in the shades of brown. Pam echoing your comments today. I have never had a sports car but my first car was a 1965 Triumph 2000. One & a half tons of metal and no power steering! I am only 5' tall and wasn't quite so broad in the beam as I am now so when we first moved up here and I started a new job the guys didn't believe that this slip of a girl could possibly be driving such a car. 100. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a gorgeous example of your many talents Sue, I love the soft colour palette, perfect for pesky customers ie men. The Lotus Striplet is perfect utilised as a focal point, its detailing is stunning. Loving the embellishments also, i havent currently got the Nasturtiums but its high on my list and will be joining my collection soon, or the Family Tree die which is just so useful and endlessly versatile. Lovely card Sue, i really appreciate all that you do on our behalf and even when I am unable to comment I always make a point of visiting the blog to see what delights you have created each day.
Well Hello my friends! Did you miss me?Did you? I realise that my absence has been lengthy and unexplained and for that I am apologetic, I have tried to keep abreast of the comments as best I could and really appreciate all of the kind thoughts and good wishes from my good buddies on the blog. I have been under the weather lately and wasn't my usual bubbly, cheery, witty self so rather than disappoint my public I took an extended break...feeling much perkier now though so those who have sought to sully my reputation in my absence BEWARE!, I am back with bells on!:-)
Thanks for the many birthday wishes, I have had a lovely day, what more could a girl ask for, presents, cards and an afternoon lounging in the warm sunshine with Brodie, Bliss!
There seems to be some confusion over my actual age though that I feel needs to be addressed,
Donita, you are perhaps the most savvy member of our team casting immediate doubt over Yvonne's scurrilous claim. Yes, my Caci treatments are indeed wondrous and enable me to look in my twenties again...without the use of any excrement i might add!...but even it cannot wipe 30 yrs off my age, that would be a miracle that no amount of money could buy:-)
Carmen, I concur, Yvonne's claim that I am 55 is indeed a crude and laughable attempt at deflecting attention away from her own advancing years a sagging jowls:-) Thanks for defending my honour, you are a loyal friend.
Maureen, how could you be seduced by Yvonne's lies? Does my youthful profile picture not prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that her claims are spiteful and vindictive? I can appreciate that anyone less than 70yrs old seems young to you but i find the suggestion that I am 55 offensive!
Myra, talk about rubbing salt into the wounds! So you don't think i look a day over 90 then? You and your partner in crime have ruined what could have been a wondrous day if given half a chance, I hope that you are proud of yourself!:-)
Pam, you are so right, age is just a number, however I do take exception to people spreading vile lies about my vintage. Thanks for your sweet well wishes:-)
Tracy, no, you havent lost your marbles, I am indeed 45 today, well done for remembering and seeking to set the record straight, I wont forget your loyalty:-)
And Yvonne, count yourself lucky that you rang me before I read your blog comment, oh you are so two faced, sweet as pie on the phone but secretly sticking the knife in and twisting it. How very dare you suggest that I am 55...it is clearly a desperate attempt at making yourself feel better because you are clearly so much older than me, and less pretty it has to be noted:-) Your little ruse has failed miserably because even those who didn't see through your puerile attempt commented that I looked remarkably better than you did for your age, may I suggest you invest in a few good facials....and a facelift!:-)
It is clear that you cannot be trusted to give a truthful account in my absence so I will have to be extra vigilant and make my blog comments an absolute necessity just to set the record straight.
Oh, and Maureen, you are so right, Yvonne doesn't have any real friends, the people who visit are obliged to in the role as carers, its called care in the community:-)
    Lovely to be backxxx
