Just For You

Good Sunday morning all!  More gilding flakes and an oldie but goodie for today!  I started with the background and used the Swiss border without the outer cutting edge.  I cut it six times into a piece of milk card, turning the direction each time.  I added a sticky adhesive sheet to the back and gilding the exposed areas with Persian Dawn Gilding Flakes.  Once gilded, I used the large Oval die from the Geneva die set to cut an aperture in the middle of the background.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  I used the Looking Glass Stamp to Die for and inked it with Flake and Glitter glue using a piece of cut n dry foam.  I stamped it onto black card and set it aside to turn clear while I cleaned the glue off of my stamp.  Once clear, I gilded the stamped image with Persian Dawn flakes too.  I used a piece of Rubit Scrubit to refine and remove the excess flake.  I seated the background over the image.  I stamped my sentiment and  cut a Swiss tag for it to sit on in the centre of the card.  I made a flower to match out of black card using the Exquisite Poppy and edged it with a silver paint pen.  I seated the flower on some black jute twine and Silver Metallic Linx as accents.  Milk and black card mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.

  11. Morning Sue, a wetter less sunny day today so to have this beauty to start the day with brings that smile to the surface. Where to start ? I'm always so in awe of your 'work' when I load the gift of the day and the most important part of the blog is the inspiration you give, especially to those that wouldn't think of using dies as you do, I just love how you put them together. I know I've been trying to craft for a while now, but I'll never get to grips with using the dies as you originally intended ! My crafting imagination is virtually none so I plod on and hope for a good end result, but if it wasn't for you and the inspiration you give on your blog, Facebook groups wouldn't have formed that use your products, the talents would have been suppressed and amazing works of art wouldn't be shared ! So thank you for what you do and for what you continue to give us, your work is amazing and hopefully slowly but surely I'll re-learn how to use your gorgeous dies and start to make some extra special work as you and your faithful 'friends' do. Talking of which, many congratulations to Rose, Myra and Margaret, enjoy your lovely gift.
Sending Sunday love n hugs your way, hope your day is a bright and happy one xxx

Wow! I love today's card it's so pretty! Gilding flakes always give a card such a gorgeous finish. The poppies look fabulous edged with the silver pen, I've still to try using the glue with a stamp and gilding flakes successfully, it never turns out as it should!

  80. Good afternoon Sue and the merry band of Wilsonettes,
Now i know that this is going to come as shock Sue but sit down as i wouldn't like you to faint, but i really like this card with the black in it, it looks so stylish and the poppy...well who doesn't love poppies. Thank you flower for a lovely opening to a lovely day. Yesterday i had my 6'8" wee cousin and his gorgeous wife and children up from Peterborough. They were on half term and going on up to Crail for the week, but he always makes and takes the time to come in and see me for which i'm grateful for. Him, his older brother(who is still my wee cousin even if he is 6'3") and baby sister who turned 40 last year were always a part of my childhood and our holidays in my daddy's caravanette that he made out of an old Ford Transit. Back then he was still on the short side of me but hey guid gear comes in sma' packages as the Scots are good at reminding people, lol. They bought his childhood home when Uncle George went into a wee pensioners house as it was too big for him to rattle around in on his own and now it is back to being a well loved family home although extended and totally changed inside. My Stuart always has to stand on the bottom step to give me a cuddle with him being so tall and me being a tad on the shortside at 5' 3/4". Every chance he gets off they are up to Scotland on holiday because Stuart was brought up coming up for his holidays and his poor family are learning to love our beauty as well. Well we had a wee bit rain yesterday but not the 70-90% that was predicted, that is what i reckon we had it hot,not even just warm. It's lovely to see the sun out at a time when it is suppose to be instead of the constant rain. I hope that where ever you all are you are getting to enjoy the same kind of weather and enjoy the outdoors in all their majestic beauty.
Congratulations P Austen yesterday on winning this weeks stunning beauty, i hope that you enjoy and treasure your beautiful surprise when it arrives flower, i will just need to get the dies and make this beauty for myself.
Well done ladies, Rose, Margaret and Myra on winning in this weeks comment game, i was lucky last week so i'm just waiting on it arriving but oh i am so pleased for everyone that is on the receiving end of Sue's kindness which is multiple through the weeks, months and years.
Pat L, glad to here hubby is now out but remember nurses uniforms now have tunic tops and trousers so that these frisky patients don't get wandering hands, lol. It will be a relief to have him home but try and get him to be more careful in his gymnastics in future as it doesn't have take it's toll on the nerves as well as every where else.
Shirley flower, i hope your appt comes soon for you but try not and be away too long flower we want you back well.
Welcome to the world wee Aron Jaxon and to Finlay on his new role as big brother, one happy granny now has two little treasures to give cwtch to. I hope that baby Aron's mummy is well after having her little precious bundle, daddy will be happy that he has two wee boys i hope. Mines wasn't pleased when after i had our daughter that our other child came out a boy, i know but there's no accounting for some men.
    Sending hugs to all

  88. Hello Sue,
What a stunning card today, I love the black poppies, well I love everything about it and as you would say "it sings to me".
Pam, hope you are feeling o.k. today and remember it's a bank holiday tomorrow - don't go into work (as if you'd forget!!) Had a great time at the Garden Centre, made better by my daughter paying for brunch, of course when we bought some plants she discovered she'd forgotten her credit card, so guess what lol. By the way her part of the bill came to £33 lol.
Elaine, the garage is full of equipment but most of it came too late to be of any real use. It should have really been here when I came out of hospital instead of 4 1/2 weeks later!! I'll be way ahead of you in the wheelie stakes, but don't worry - I'll give you a push ha ha.
    Donita, stick in there pet.
Doreen R, what a lovely unusual name Aron Jaxon. I wish him and his big brother lots of love and cuddles.

  104. Hi Sue,

Beautiful, beautiful background! It is very effective using the Swiss border this way. You can use your borders dies in so many ways creating amazing cards! You push us to think out of box, again ... just because it is called a border doesn't mean we have to use it for one, right ? Thanks for another daily dose of inspiration.

Congratulation to the winners of this week's Comment Game!

I didn’t have time yesterday to read the comment so ...
Maria – Happy belated b-day! Hope you had a great day!
Doreen R - Congratulations on the arrival of your new grandson Aron Jaxon.
Elaine – Glad to hear that Andrew is doing better. Hugs for you all.
Donita - Hope you enjoy you long weekend.
Pat L.- Be happy your hubby is home now and try to be a gentle nurse.
Pam - At home everything is OK, thanks for asking. We had another great family weekend. It is so good to have our son home every weekend now. The work term is like a break for him and us as well. At work ...no good news about the Kid. He will have a double surgery on Tuesday. The surgeons will try to remove two spots from his lungs. They will use 2 different procedures to do this. He seemed all right for the past three weeks but I knew he was just putting on a brave face. He shared his doubts, worries, and fears with me a few days ago. It broke my heart to see him so hopeless. I hope everything will go as planned. Fingers crossed.
PP – Who stole your tablet this time, the dog? :)
Laine – Where are you? How is your mom?

    Have great week everybody,

  105. Another beautiful card Sue. Congratulations to the lucky winners. I've only been card making for about 2 years and have so very much to learn. I'm still spending my children's inheritance on more and more dies but will really have to stop giving in to temptation. I haven't yet done very well with stamping or embossing but I will get there in time I'm sure. Thank you Sue for being such an inspiration.
