You're Amazing

Good Sunday morning all!  Here is a ditty little card (at least by my standards! LOL)   I get asked for smaller cards all the time and I will admit they are a bit of a challenge for me, I do like a larger format, but I think this one came out quite nice!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut the outer decorative shape from the Bruges die out of it.  I backed it with wisteria card and used the inside cutting edge to create a frame.  I added mounting foam to the back of this piece.  Next I used the smaller decorative die and cut it out of wisteria card and attached the frame over it and added another layer of mounting foam to the back.  I cut the smallest decorative die out of coconut white card and backed it with white and seated it in the opening of the other cut pieces.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the small oval from the Antwerp die set.  I inked it with Shaded Lilac distress ink, then added it to the centre of the card.  I cut the Exquisite Poppy die and made two flowers.  I used the fine tip end of the Shaded Lilac distress pen and drew the lines in through the die, then inked the edges before assembling the flowers and adding pearl centres.  I seated the two flowers on a white satin ribbon bow in the lower corner.  White and wisteria mats were added to finish the card.  The finished dimensions are 5 1/2" x  6 1/4" in size.

  1. Beautiful card Sue, love it. Part of my order arrived yesterday, I am now the proud owner of all of your new flower dies and the Hobnail vase, they are stunning. Rosemarie you are going to love your Liky if the Valkey die from the draw.
    Congrats to comment game winners.
Latenight Sandy, dud you get to bed then. When you have dusted your craft room, you can do mine but I may have to take out danger insurance first, it is so crowded.
Rosemary, thank you for your comments, and all the other ladies, I am recovering a little after 4 weeks but getting there
Pat, good news about Sarah's X-ray but it us shocking how they have failed her and her parents yet again. They don't seem to care about the physical, emotional and financial costs involved in getting this brave little girl to these appointments in vain.
Carmen, I'm hoping we can get a hit if hats made by 31st May so we can send them to the teacher. She goes every year to help, takes provisions, toiletries etc, and sometimes takes some of her pupils too. We need more people like her in the world.
Elaine, I hope Andrew and Helen have a wonderful weekend, let's hope he us better with this treatment.
Rosemary Gladstone, welcome to Sues wonderful blog, you will gets loads of inspiration and support as we all did, we are a very caring bunch who all adore Sues work.
June hope your craft day went well, you are a very busy lady.
Happy Bank Holiday weekend, huge hugs to all especially our missing and poorly friends, not forgetting the special careers . Maureen, hope you are feeling a bit stronger with Georges care.

  8. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a really lovely card today and I like the idea of smaller cards sometimes too, and I love the sentiment.

Pam pleased that you are feeling a bit better, you will now be able to have a play with your goodies, I too have the vase and flowers, so far only seen one sample using the vase so come on ladies give me some inspiration.

I also reiterate everything that Pam has said above.

Had a great workshop yesterday, did things way out of my comfort zone, some I liked and some not so keen on. Was absolutely exhausted when I got home, I think my age is telling on me. Off to a craft show this morning in Maidstone, will have my mobility scooter though, although really there is nothing I need ......now did I say that......no never, I need everything.

Has anyone else had a chance to use the new Tim Holtz stamping press yet, mine arrived yesterday, I do have the Misti which really is so easy to use and I have not had any stamping disasters since I started using it. Not sure if this is right to put on your blog Sue but it is all part of crafting.

Congratulations to the winners, enjoy your prize.

Oh best hurry I can hear hubby cooking breakfast.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xx

This is such a pretty little card Sue but like yourself I enjoy making larger cards. My smaller ones appear to be overcrowded. I could try putting less on, of course.........a bit like my food plate. Whoever said "Less is more?"
Enjoy your bank holiday every . Hugs xx P Austen

  13. Wow what a beauty. You are amazing Sue. I must admit if I make any similar cards to yours that I need to post I just don't use some of the layers and to make things lighter (and save card) I cut things out of the back layers where it won't show.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

  14. Hi Sue. Yet again it's YOU that's amazing, if I was to give all my reasons I'd use up all my character's plus more on just one comment !!
This sweet little is just that - beautiful.
Thanks to you and Hetty from the fb group I've got more confidence making smaller cards. So when I feel like returning to my craft I'll continue to cut my dies, and look at them properly and re-learn how to use them how you intended when you designed them.
So I'll send my usual love n hugs and hope your day is a good one xxx

  15. Hi Sue and all,

It's nice of you to do a smaller card. This one goes deep. It's pretty.
I hope the winners enjoy their loot, and I hope one of them will tell what the comment gift was. Does three winners mean there were more than 200 comments, on Sue just being extra generous?
I also hope somebody will explain what bank holiday it is this weekend. Is it Monday? Or was it Friday?
On your Saturday morning, I was ending my Friday night. It was a long week, and my eyelids got too heavy to see the end of the video. That's saying something, because watching Sue's videos is one of my favorite things.
Three people who took a buyout offer are leaving Monday, and that's too many to make all different fabulous cards and circulate them for my colleagues to sign. I should have made and circulated them last week, but like I said it was a demanding week.
Sue, if you ever come up with a "BAM, There's Your Card" die that would work just as well for men as women, I'd be first in line to buy it.
Looking back on all the cards I've made for departing colleagues, the one die I could have used was "Don't Go!"
Doesn't quite have the same ring as "Bon Voyage."

To all in the U.K., enjoy your holiday weekend.

    Love,
    Donita in Rhode Island, U.S.

Pam, well done on getting all the new flower dies. Sadly all my craft buying has been put on hold for most of this year as I'm having to save up for a new computer and as I can only manage a little of my pension each fortnight it could take a long time lol. I'm after an all-in-one as it's to go into my craft room and there's hardly any room in there. Still, I can enjoy everyone else's joy when they get new dies and stamps and hopefully I can buy myself a fantastic Christmas present full of crafty goodness...or should a replace my dead dishwasher...decisions, decisions lol.

  87. Hello Sue,
I really love today's card but I don't really mind what size your cards are - they are all gorgeous! I often start small - look at it and think it's not quite right - mount it on a bigger background and what a difference! I'm awkward - make the background last!!
I love your use of the Dies today and the pretty flowers and the wisteria card! All truly lovely!
Maureen - I wasn't sure whether to ignore your remark from yesterday or not! However I see we have another today! Just because you are a bit incapacitated doesn't give you licence to torment your friends!! George, lovely man, is slaving away! I know he has a medal! Do you remember Lady Penelope ?? Well, George isn't Parker you know!!!
We have eight for lunch today so I've got to stop! They will be here any minute now - with a chorus of Grandma what's for lunch!!!

Lovely, lovely card! I, too, have a challenge when trying one of your designs to fit my 5 x 7 size cards that I send. Most of the time, I can only do half of a design that you create on your cards. When I do make the larger cards, I enjoy being able to add all those extra layers and frames. Working on the larger format to me feels like freedom and having "wide open spaces". I have many friends that only make the A2 size [4.25 x 5.50 inches] card. They just don't know what they are missing.

  108. Hi Sue, love this card and the size is immaterial as is would be beautiful whatever size it was. The Bruges die is very pretty and I love the Exquisite Poppy. If a card is for a special occasion I love to use 8x8 otherwise I mix it up a lot and make many different sizes depending on what I have chosen as the focal element and how I am feeling :-)

Congratulations to Pat S. Whitney, Lindyloo12 and Rosemary Powell on being this week's comment game winners, enjoy playing with your prizes.

Thinking of all poorly and missing friends.

  119. Hi Sue. Lovely card today. I think that the central elements of your larger dies are so pretty it is nice to give them their time in the spotlight by making them the focal point of a smaller card. This card demonstrates the point exactly.

  135. Hi Sue. WOW !!! Your card today is gorgeous !!! A true Sue Wilson style card. The Bruges Die set looks amazing and you have created such a beautiful card with these dies. I love your fab colour combo to. I do love the Wisteria and it goes so lovely with the coconut white. Your Exquisite Poppies are amazing, as always !!! I love all your flower dies Sue. This looks perfect made into a smaller card, but my own personal preference would still be 8x8 square !!! I do make some smaller cards when they need to be posted but for those that I give in person, it still had to be my favourite 8x8 cards. I think they are the perfect size to fit everything on them that I need to !!! Thank you for sharing. Lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

  136. Hi Sue,

Another beauty today! I made only small cards so far so I’m glad to see a small card made by you. Love the color combination and the dies that you used. I don’t have all these dies, but I can try with what I have. Thank you for the inspiration.

    Congratulations to the winners.

Pam – This teacher is one in a million (or even more) and you and your team as well. Thanks again for helping Romanian kids, but please, take care of yourself first.
Elaine - Hope the weather will get better and they can enjoy a few more days at the caravan. Sending my daily hugs to you all.
Lori from Canada – Welcome back!
Maureen – You are so right about these two!!! Finally somebody understands why I don’t miss them:)
Laine & PP - Don’t worry about us, we are all OK and we have each other. Take care, girls.
Saba – Where are you? Are you still recovering after your meet up:) Hope you are OK.
Maria – I am afraid that I have nothing hilarious to say/report today; long and busy day here. A hot shower and a good sleep it’s all I need right now. But ... tomorrow is another day!

    Have a great week ladies,
Still a newbie to Craft / not longer the newest, or the only Canadian Wilsonette
