Just For You

/Hi bloggers!  Today's card has a bit of an antique or vintage feel to it I think.  I started with a piece of black card and embossed it with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I used the debossed side of it and went over the top of it with Enchanted Gold Gilding Polish.  I lightly sanded the top and edges to give it a more distressed look.  Next I cut four of the Striped Swirl Edger, two in milk card and two in black.  I used the black ones as shadow for the milk card.  I then used the die on milk card twice and just embossed it and used the pattern to cut around the edges to add a solid piece for both of the borders.  I added mounting foam and cut a strip of double cream pearl and added them to the straight sides.  I attached them to the outer edges of the card.  For the focal element, I cut the Mauritius die twice with the decorative and outer cutting edge, once in milk and once in black.  I offset the black die cut behind the milk one.  I added a solid milk backing and attached it in the centre of the card.  I cut the next section in milk and backed it in black and mounted it in the middle and added my sentiment cut from the oval.  Milk, gold and black mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Beautiful card Sue, brightens up my very cold dull Monday morning. Love the Mauritius die.
Steph, hope Andy is feeling better, you take care too.
Elaine, my daily hugs to you, Andrew and Helen, truly a family standing together.
Laine, it doesn't hurt to have a lazy day after you have been unwell. Yvonne, hope the migraine has gone now.
All this chat of paper strikers, tree huggers and rope strokers, has had me in stitches, you are a funny diverse bunch of ladies but that is what makes the world go round.
Tracey I hope you had a lovely day, your Graeme is definitely a star.
Hugs to all missing and poorly friends, missing you all.
    Have a good day everyone.

  10. Another week begins here Sue. Can't think of any better way to start my Monday.
    Thank you Pam.
As soon as today's card loaded into my phone my first thought was that this looks strong and almost regal like, the way you've designed the dies that sit on that wonderful background so strong looking makes the whole sample look majestic. Isn't it strange how there are over 100 comments left each day and we all see something different. Wow. I love this card, and your inspiration.
Have a good day Sue, duty calls, but not before I leave you with a hug xxx

  11. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a stunner of a card today, yes like the vintage look and the stripped edger and Mauritius dies complete this really nicely.

Had busy weekend made (of finished off) 7 birthday/anniversary cards, including the candy machine, so it is off to the post office today, I am hoping it will arrive at my granddaughters without getting broken.

I have a gp visit, just routine, this morning and then off for a luxury afternoon tea with the other 3 ladies who all had their knees replaced the same time as me, it will be lovely to catch up with them again and compare.

Keep up all this hilarious banter ladies, it makes my day.

Special hugs to all that need them, yes you know who you are.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  21. Love that background, Sue, a really classy card and the Mauritius die is quite special. Had a look at my gilding waxes which appeared from nowhere yesterday, all dried up so attention needed!
Laine, thanks for the laughs again - missing your best buddy too. As for Harry, he looks a bit like a stunned Welsh boyo rugby prop with his swollen nose, two dark eyes from dilated pupils, and a cut-off ear from his earlier days (pre coming to us) when he was given the chop, so to speak, in a feral neutering programme and ear-tipped to show he had been 'done'. No pin-up but sooo gorgeous! Still a happy little man.
    Echoing Pam again.
    Hugs.

  22. Dear Sue and Die Cutups,

June Fletcher captured this so well with the word decadent. I also like how the embossed-only edger under the black and milk die cuts make it look so much more complex. This reminds me to include Enchanted Gold Gilding Polish in my next order from your North American retailer Ecstacy Crafts. Also, thanks for letting us know to distress with sandpaper AFTER gilding.
Another word about the first of Sunday's two cards. The design would work well with any sentiment and any detail inside the central tags. I'm thinking especially of the word love that comes with the Jeweled Heart, with assorted hearts on the top and bottom tags.
I haven't heard from my fellow Rhode Island member so I might look her up and call her Monday.
    Wishing everyone an excellent.
    Love,
    Donita

  27. Hi Sue,
This card is a stunner, just sheer elegance. This is because (in my eyes) of the dies used, Mauritius, one of my all time favourites (and it will remain that) and the complimentary striped swirl edger. And then black background with highlights of gold - well there's nothing more to be said . FABULOUS!

  73. Hi Sue, a beautiful card and it definitely has that vintage feel to it. Love the gilding on the debossed side of the folder and the two dies speak volumes.

Laine - my profile picture is of a much loved girl who has been gone for over 20 years and was definitely a mummy's cat. She was part Persian (her mummy was naughty lol) and just looked like a ball of fur on very short legs. When she fell in the bath one day she came out the size of a kitten and looking like a drowned rat and it took us ages to dry her off :-)
PPixie - hope you are getting over the migrane, rest up until you feel better.
'P' - poor Harry, I can just see him now and I am sure it all just adds to his character.
June - enjoy your luxury tea with your new friends from the hospital, shame you can't save us all a cake :-)
Tracey - so glad you had a lovely day, you deserve it. Your picture sounds beautiful and how thoughtful of Janice to commission it for you.

  118. Hi Sue,

Beautiful card for a Monday morning! So different! Love the vintage look, the details with these dies and the gilding on the debossed side of the folder ! Another winner.

Pam – Thanks for keeping us informed every day.
Saba - You are full of surprises ... rope and Fifty Shades of Grey and ... you know what? Life is short! Enjoy it in any way possible. Try new (or old) things/tricks! Be happy!
PP/Yvonne – When I read the posts I knew which one is yours without looking at the signature. You're so modest, I mean dark and mysterious. And popular! Welcome back, PP! So many people missed you!
Laine - Oh, you really are your father's daughter (with all due respect for your father).Just saying.
Why you had to open the subject? Do you have the sixth sense? I admit, I am behind schedule with ... everything. What's new? Hope to get back on track in a few days. Now I have other things to do; I got Creative and Expressions catalog and I am working on the shopping list, more like wish list. I want all Sue’s dies once, but the budget is limited. Wouldn’t be nice to win the lottery one day?

Just for you all, have a great day!
