Thank You

Hi crafters!  Here's a card with a different sort of colour combo.  I found this sage green card in my craft stash and it was just calling out to be used! LOL  I started by embossing a wide strip of it with the Provencale Lace embossing folder.  I decided to use the lightest of Black Soot ink around the edges (you have to look at the close ups to really see it).  I matted it with a thin white mat.  I cut the thin edger from the Linear Elegance Edger out of black card and added it to the edge under the thin white mat on top and bottom.  I added this piece to a larger piece of the green card.  I tied a piece of black satin ribbon around the card vertically on the left side, added a bow and topped it with a black crystal sparkler.  For the focal element, I cut the Mauritius die in black and added it to the card.  I cut the Scripted Thank you on white as my sentiment and glued it to the Mauritius die.  White, green and black mats were then used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/4"  in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue, very lovely. Thank you for all you do for us.
Elaine, it is no wonder Helen is anxious, she has had a really hard time lately and she like you wants to see Andrew well again. It would be lovely for them to have the treatment finished and then be able to get to their caravan. How much that would lift your spirits too.
Tina, sorry about the knees, we are both suffering the onset of age problems methinks.
Yvonne, I'm delighted at your good fortune, your benefactor will want you to enjoy his gift. I agree with a treat if some of Sues stamps but you need to ensure your long term comfort so I am with you on the boiler, bathroom and kitchen revamps then you will be warm and comfortable while crafting. Good luck honey, no more than you deserve.
Dragonsnap, hope mum and baby are home for your cuddles before your holiday, enjoy the break, build your strength as you will be needed when you are back.
Hope everyone is warm and well, it is very cold and windy here.
Hugs to all especially missing friends. NannaTina sending you a special hug. Hope you are doing okay.

  3. Morning Sue. What a gorgeous choice of colour's, am I thinking CE have a similar shade of green in the Foundations range ? I don't know quite what to say about this sample as I'm all out of complimentary words after the launch but I will say it's really beautiful.

  5. Love the card today Sue. I don't use green very much, apart from foliage, but this is great. I know I have lots of greens in my stash.

Mother and baby came home late last night so I had my first cuddle. You do forget just how small newborns are, even at 8 lbs. she is gorgeous.

I obviously confused people about where I'm going on holiday. We are meeting our Canadian friends in the Dominican Republic, hence the warm sunshine. Far too cold for me in Canada at the moment. My joints seize up in the cold and then I can hardly do anything including walking. I'm really looking forward to it now. Packing starts tonight!

Crafty hugs to all. It's lovely to see proper chatty comments again.

  15. Dear Sue and everyone,

Mauritius always looks better cut out rather than cut in, IMHO.

    This is lovely.

Is everyone busy making Valentines? Did my first six today. With only the die cuts I grabbed when packing for my trip. The card club at the resort is meeting Friday morning. I'm bringing some SW dies, the garden and baby shadow boxes among them.

The weather here is like the reward we get for a few days back home after suffering all winter. As a contrast it's wonderful but maybe I would get tired of it.

    The weekend is almost here!

    Love,
    Donita

  34. Hi Sue and everyone

A gorgeous card today. Even though there's a lot of black it's still very springlike and refreshing. I love green and this particular one is beautiful. I understand why Debra K may not like greens, I used to be the same with blue as that was my uniform colour. Though that seems such a long time ago.. probably because it is!

I love the Mauritius die, but have only the Seychelles so far in this collection. The thank you die is a lovely script.

Yvonne, so pleased to hear about your good fortune. He must have thought a lot of you. I agree with Pam about putting things in the house in order ( especially the boiler) so you can be warm and comfortable when you craft. But some extra dies will be lovely to remember him by. Enjoy. X

Dragonsnap2, have a lovely holiday. We have had many happy holidays in the Dominican Republic over the years. It's a wondeful place. We've also met lots of Canadians there who've amazed us with tales of how cold it can be in Canada. Enjoy the warmth and have a great time. X

What a beautiful shade of green that you have used today Sue,and with the fine touches of the black for me would be enough, although sorry the big bits are not me, but it wouldn't do if we all liked the same, becasue the card concept is lovely, i would just need to tweeak it for me but hey you know that. THank you Sue and have a good weekend flower.
Oh Dragonsnap, off to Mauritus will be wonderful, i hope that you have a lovely holiday and meet up with your Canadians. Have a great time and enjoy every minute of that sunshine.
Yvonne flower, i am over the moon for you flower, i hope that you really enjoy your unexpected little fortune to the utmost. You must have left quiet a mark on the family friend for them to include you to such an extent, but there again i think you leave a mark every where you go, hee hee hee. Enjoy it but remember and do get yourself a little treat out of it as that is what they wanted you to do and then everytime you use or play with your little treat it will bring a warm smile inside and out. What lovely news for me to hear on a Friday and i couldn't be more pleased or happier for you flower, enjoy(although no dancing on the tables because your drunk please, lol).
Tina, sending good luck to Owen in his new job and i hope that it is not too long before he meets some lovely new workmates as they make a job something more than just a place to go to each day, they rally your spirit and give you a laugh, but they give you new friendship and you're never too old to make new friends or have too many of them. How are you feeling this week? I'm sending you hugs just to keep you going flower.
Elaine, hugs on their way to you, Andrew and Helen.
    love and crafty hugs

  115. Hello Sue,
I'm not usually a lover of green as - yes my uniform was bottle green , piped with gold! However this is a beautiful shade of green and putting with the black just makes it pop! The Mauritius Die always looks lovely and your sentiments are the best! Thanks Sue!
PP - Yvonne - I'm thrilled for you! How lovely. Yes you will have things that will be priorities but have a little treat as well!!
It's a lovely day here today after a stormy night ! It is still, sunny and we have blue skies! Isn't British weather fun!
Diane - now I know why you carry that WD40 in your bag!!
Sending love to both Tina's and Elaine. Hope Owen enjoys his job and that it helps him!
Love to all friends on the blog!

  116. Hi Sue, beautiful card and lovely die, but I don't do green ( superstitious) and would have to use navy and not black, so guess this one not
    For me.

  117. Hello Sue,

Love the design of this card, and love the Mauritius die, although in my minds eye I see it cut in white or a pastel shade with something a bit darker behind. But then that's the beauty of choices isn't it. Take care, love Brenda xxx

  120. I am so glad that piece of green card stock called out to you as it made a gorgeous card. I am taken again with the Thank you script and must have it in my collection. I did notice that little touch of Black Soot which made the embossing pop without being too much. Love this card.

  123. Totally gorgeous card, Sue, rings all the bells for me! Elegant colour scheme, great design and a bow always welcome. Love it. A true Sue card.
Tina - good luck for Owen and the new job - hugs for you.
Dragonsnap - great news about the new baby. Enjoy your holiday.
Norah - hope you're much better. Yes, you're right about my aunt, the font (fount?) of all family knowledge and much more - always had something to ask her. She could even remember the names of all her classmates from first year at school - 99 years ago. Her choice of music for her funeral - rather celebration of life: Lovely to Look At (Fred Astaire version - look it up on YouTube) Crazy by Patsy Cline and Yester-Me etc by Stevie Wonder. Lovely to Look At is now an ear-worm and can't get it out of my head. But that's another one lol. A plethora of funny stories about her, could write a book.
And PP - well, couldn't be more excited if it were me!! Thrilled for you, just enjoy as Bryan would wish you to. Minor treats first, then the serious stuff and if any left, put it in Premium Bonds and cross your fingers.

  131. Hi Sue
And all you wonderful Wilsonettes x
I love this card. The Mauritius die is not in my clutches yet but you never know it could be added to my collection sooner than I had expected x
This is such a lovely spring like green. Got to say that seems very appropriate as I actually managed to get some washing on the line this morning. That always brings a smile to my face. It is now over the airer and smells delightful x
I have tried to make progress today by clearing a space so that I might even manage to make a card or 2 over the weekend. I was on a bit of a roll at the beginning of January but then my little unexpected trip put a stop to that. Here's hoping I can sort out my crafty withdrawal symptoms over the next few days x
I am still in a state of shock and half expecting that someone has made a mistake. The money is not quite within reach but shouldn't take too long before I will be a desirable catch for any hot blooded male who happens to glance in my direction. Lol x
Seriously, the jobs I spoke of yesterday are things which have been a worry for quite a while now. The last few years since losing Steve and not being able to work have been a challenge. I am just not in a position to even entertain being able to spend money on things like that. I just smile and wonder when things are going to fall apart or break down completely so this is such an amazing opportunity to sort things out.
That said I can't help dreaming about buying every single Sue die which I do not already own. Not to mention the whole of the January launch. What a temptation and predicament x
Maureen - I have to say your begging letter was a little over the top my dear. A lifetimes supply of champagne and chocolate served up by a tall young blonde waiter wearing tight trousers no top and a spinning bow tie was in my opinion in bad taste, not to mention a little greedy - I have only met you once after all x
Norah - I don't allow alcohol to pass my lips. Can you imagine a drunk version of me - not a pleasant thought x
Laine - if you start being incredibly nice I will know it is not just a coincidence! x
To Pam, CraftySuetoo, June, Jane Franklin, Fluffy, Cheryl, Lynne L, Pat L, Crewe Trish, Myra, P, Theresa G and anyone else who sent me their love with some wonderfully kind words - thank you so much x
Tina T - good luck to Owen as he begins his new job. Big hugs to you both x
Nanna Tina - love and hugs x
Elaine - sending Andrew, Helen and yourself love and hugs x
OK lovely people that's all for now. I hope everyone manages to have a good weekend. Sending you all happy thoughts and love especially my blog besties - you know who you are x
    Take care
