Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  How about a card for the giveaway today with a pretty vellum obscured background?  I started by cutting six of the Pacific Ocean Borders in Papyrus card. I backed all of them with black.  I attached them to a piece of coconut white card in three rows of two, with the flat edges together.  The plain vellum was then cut to size and attached with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear glue in the corners.  For the focal element, I cut the Bora Bora die in white and backed it with Papyrus card.  I cut another Bora Bora in black and cut it in half and used it as a drop shadow on either side of the dies.  I cut a centre out of black card using the smaller die in the set and then layered up my stamped sentiment with a papyrus mat under it.  I cut a Striped Nasturtium out of papyrus card and added the striped die over the top cut in black.  I seated it on a bow tied from Black seam binding and added two swirls as accents that were cut from the Beaded Starflower die set.  Black, white and papyrus card mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 3/4" in size.  Leave a comment if you would like a chance to win this card.  The winner will be announced on Feb. 2nd as we will be having a blog launch for the new dies which starts Thursday morning for a week!  I hope you are excited as I am!  All for now, Sue x

Tina, I hope yesterday was not too traumatic for you. It is hard when it is the birthday of a lost one but even harder when their physical presence is still there. I thought about you all day, comforting hugs to you and Owen, dear friend.
Elaine, hope all is well with you and Andrew, take care in this cold weather.
Norah you are right, I am a Civil Servant, and they are horrendous with sick policy, everyone comes to work ill to avoid confrontation and then everyone else comes down with the illness. Whatever happened to Employer Duty of Care.
Laine good to see you back, so sorry you have been so unwell. We did miss you. Hope Yvonne and parents are okay.
Heather hope your friend came through her pacemaker op okay.

  6. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a beautiful giveaway card today which would look lovely in a new home, good luck everyone. Yes, yes, yes I am so looking forward to the launch and seeing what you have been doing with the new dies and stamps, if only I was a rich women I could have all of them and play away until my hearts content.

Tina and Owen, I thought of you also all day yesterday, hugs my friends.

Pam I was once offered a job in the Lords Chancellors office and turned it down because I saw the way people were treated and thought, that is not for me, so I went into IT banking in the city, loved every minute of it, and the company I worked for were fantastic, I remember once after some foot surgery I had, I was ready to go back to work and they paid for a taxi to take me to and from the office every day in order to avoid the crowds on the trains, these things you remember don't you. It looks very foggy outside so wrap up warm today.

Laine, yes we did miss you, so pleased that you are on the mend, missed all the banter too.

Yvonne have you found that charger yet??

Oh well best finish as got craft club today so need to get my bag ready, yes Sue we are doing one of your cards with the Dot Matrix embossing folder, (mine is on order).

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  12. Hello Sue and Susanettes,

Love how you did that background! Wish I had that border set.

Also looking forward to the launch. The November one caught me by surprise, and it was rich and deep, but I did my peeking for this one and am eager to see what you make and how those kinetics work.

I hope everybody has an inexplicably good day Wednesday.

  15. Morning Sue. Usually when you really love a particular card you can pick the elements which make you smile or 'sing' or stand out, but I can't with today's card, everything about it makes me smile. The colour scheme is just beautiful and even though the way you photograph your samples highlights their beauty I bet today's pictures don't do it justice, it really is a beautiful card Sue. I use to be like you Jan and wait till launch to see the new collections until I was 'heckled' for want of a better word, I love surprises so it was something new to look forward to in what could be a mundane same as kind of day when you're unable to leave the house during the cold winter months, so it was kind of ignore the emails showing the pre-order pictures of the new collections, I'm really excited to see the really different samples and like your SB designs, I'm so excited to show off your new collection to those that visit market and those that like to order their 'special' family and friends cards from me. There is nothing wrong AT ALL Jan in waiting and enjoying the surprise of new Sue designs - enjoy x 😊
On that note, my usual hug is on its way to you Sue and to say that launch day can't come quick enough is an under statement lol thank you for brightening up my dull January days I so love you for that xxx

  63. Morning Sue,

Love this morning's card. Love the muted look created by the vellum overlay.
Whoever the lucky winner will be, I am sure they will love it too.

Absence due to our forthcoming production of the panto Pinocchio by our village Pantomime Society. Pete was a founder member and I joined the following year after retiring from our darts and skittles teams. Although I played many parts in past productions I am mostly involved with the prompting these days and of course the costumes. So busy times still ahead as we open our first performance next month.

Gurt big squashy hugs to all in need of one or two today.
Pam, I have always loved a brandy and lovage (herb liquor) whenever a bad cold chest or infection has arisen. Really clears the bronchials as they say (plus it's tastes lovely too). Glad to read your bosses not giving you gyp.

    Love & hugs

Apropos of nothing in particular. Has any one else noticed where the visitor list shows you are from when you first log in? For a while I have noticed that it shows me as a visitor from Poole which is a long way south of Northamptonshire. When I log in at the caravan in Wales it has shown me as a visitor from the east coast of the USA. Is Blogspot weird or what!!!! !

In answer to your querie regarding where you are in the world, the same thing happens to me. I always come up as living in or near Kleinmond in S Africa but whilst the latter is true (for the next 7 weeks), I am miles away from there. I blame the heat here as it must addle the iPads brains.

I Love How You took "The Pacific Ocean Border" An Cut It Out Of The Papyrus Card And
Backed In Black Card, Then Adding "The Vellum" Which Creates Such A Delicate Softness To
    Today's Masterpiece.
Cutting Out "The "Bora Bora" In Coconut White" Then Backing It With "The Papyrus Card" Cutting
The "Bora Bora" Once More This Time In "Black Card" Cutting This In Half And Placing Behind

  106. Hi Sue and everyone.

A striking card today. Very lovely. Have recently bought more vellum to use for flowers, but will now be using some for this technique too I think.

Sorry to hear you've not been well Laine, but pleased you're feeling better now.

So looking forward to the launch of the new dies Sue, to see what masterpieces you've created with them.

    Love Helen xxx

  113. Hello Sue,
Another lovely card and the vellum just adds another dimension to it! As someone else said I'd like to see it without the vellum too! Lovely choice of colours too.
I sorted all my Dies yesterday. I have rather more than I thought I did! Oops! Now you are tempting us with some more! They look very interesting and I'm so looking forward to seeing how you use them! Thank you for doing that.
Frances( fluffycat) - you made me smile with your use of the (?) in your post!
Laine - good to see you back and so sorry you've been having a tough time - very debilitating!! I'm so pleased you realise that you and I are the shy retiring ones. If we got together we 'd chat quietly in hushed tones!
PP - that Charger will be just exactly where you left it!!
Teressa - I just had to go and look - I was from Poole as well! I'm in Lancashire! I've noticed in the past I was from London, London - why twice I don't know - maybe trying to be like New York and Frank Sinatra!
To the two Tina's, Elaine and all the families - thinking of you!
    Love Myra xx

  137. Hi Sue. WOW !!! What a beautiful Wednesday giveaway card !!! I have just finished a card using the Pacific borders and the Bora Bora dies to. I love how you have made the background with the Pacific border dies and i think it is a lovely idea to soften the the colours by using vellum over the top. It really makes the main focal element, the Bora Bora die set stand out. I do really like your colour combo to. Your Nasturtiums look fab on your card. A great finishing touch. Thank you for sharing todays beautiful card. Lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x
