Striplet as Corners Card

Hi bloggers!  I love that you can use even the leftover bits of a die cut.  Today's video shows you how to use your striplet die for pretty corner pieces too.

The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue, just lovely.
Yvonne, catch me if you can, lol. I'm up this early as I go to work just after 6. I wouldn't mind if you were 1st.
Tina T, hope hubby so appointment went well.
Elaine, has Andrew heard yet, hope the leg is still improving and the crochet will be fine, don't give up.
Tracey, no I'm not pamscrafts, I'm just plain Pam Hackett, but the hair does sound swish. I used to have red hair and it turned like a white blonde colour, totally bypassed the grey/ salt and pepper stage. I'll try to find you on Facebook.
Tina and Mick, hope you are well.
Hugs to all and missing friends.

  7. Morning Sue. What a beauty. You are the first to bring a smile to my face each morning, and this morning's smile is just slightly larger as yet again this is my kind of card with its delicate shade of pink and the framing, and how you've backed the frame with the striplet die, these circle dies have to be the next large purchase for me as I just love the effect frames bring to a project. Not sure if Beverly has done something similar on the SWCE fb page, but that too was delicate and beautiful just like today's sample (you have a crafting twin Sue) lol. Thank you for making me smile again. So have a good day and take these hugs hopefully they will keep you smiling too xx

Well my husbands appointment gave us the news that we had waited for, he does have a Prosate Cancer and another in his bladder. Due to have a CT scan today, that dept rang at 4pm to say that the scanner was BROKEN, so after given the all clear last year - we are starting all over again. That's life !!!!!

So Pam and Yvonne, you are planning your own Olympic race then are you, haha !!! I will be the referee.

Still waiting Elaine and Andrew, hope it is not too long now.

Tina T, Sorry to hear of the results, but hubby has beaten this once he can do it again, such a shame that the Scanner was broken, hope it gets fixed soon and they you can all plan what action is taken to fight this going forward, my prayers are with you.

Pam Hackett, I tried to find you on facebook but there are a number of you.

Tina and Mick, hope you are well.

Made 5 of Sue's shaker cards yesterday, my craft room and all the rest of our bungalow looks like a glittered grotto because I used iced snow on the outside of the card instead of micro beads which Sue did, the cards have turned out good and I have typed out the instructions for my craft club ladies to do tomorrow.

Got to take cakes in tomorrow as I have a birthday coming up on Saturday.

Phew it is hot, hot, hot already and only 8:30 in the morning.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  61. Hi Sue,

Such a beautiful card and using waste bits for the corners is a brilliant idea.

I have a 'BitBox' that is almost empty now. I started to use my scraps to save buying yet more papers and thin card stock just to cut up with my dies. Saved a fortune this year already.

Pam & Yvonne, I am looking forward to the next Olympics to see you both in action.

Tina, dear heart, do not give up hope, I was saddened to read your news regarding the return of hubby's cancer. I'd like you to do something for me, wrap your arms around your shoulders and squeeze, now you have had a hug from me.

I have had 2 different types of cancer, kidney and breast, in the space of 3 years and have come through with the most fantastic help from our Beacon Centre in Taunton.
I am awaiting the results of my last CT scan earlier this month so can understand the frustration of your local scanner being out of action.
Could not the hospital refer your husband to another one with a CT scanner? That would set your mind at rest knowing that he could have the scan earlier than waiting for the repairs to be done?

Gentle healing hugs to all in need of one or two, and big squishy ones for everybody else.

    Love & hugs

  106. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Fabulous video day as always, having the luxury of your personal tutelage is wonderful:-) A brilliant design, love the noble circles, they frame a centrepiece beautifully....really liked the inking effect, it added a further dimension to the frame and tied in lovely with the sentiment and flowers. Ingenious using the off cut corners to frame each corner of the card, a really nice touch in adding the pearl strip. How nice to see some slightly older dies, I'm guilty of moving on with each release neglecting to use previously favourite dies, so I really should utilise all of my collection more often.
I'm looking forward to the coming few weeks, hoping that your appearance at Ally Pally will coincide with some more tv slots on Hochanda and the launch of a new collection.....am I being presumptuous? A girl can but dream:-)
Well ladies, drum roll.......I managed to create a birthday card today!!??!?Yes, I know, stranger things have happened but this was a minor achievement for me because I have really lost my zest for crafting since my Dad passed and was struggling to motivate myself to create anything. I quickly got into the groove again but wasn't too impressed with my finished effort....my Mum loved it but we can be our harshest critics at times and I just felt that I could have done better....maybe a bit more practice would help!
Yvonne was mightly impressed but did remind me...again.....that she managed to complete two in the same time period....talk about raining on my parade, I told you how obnoxious she can be:-)
only three more weeks to go now Maria:-) I really hope that we can meet up for a chat, what day are you planning on going? Louise and I are going on Sunday because that's the day that Sue does her Hochanda shows and My other half is threatening to heckle her if we don't get front row seats....oh the shame! See what I mean, she's a menace and shouldn't be allowed in polite company:-)
It would be lovely to meet up with other Wilsonettes too if you are going to be around at the Sunday show, I do hope so because it would be nice to put a name to face or vice versa and I promise that I don't bite so no tetanus jab will be required afterwards:-)
Tina T, I was so sad to learn of your hubby's diagnosis, how awful for you both. However, as this fab blog can attest to with it's many survivors, cancer need not be feared in the way it once was, it is treatable and the prospects can be bright. Here's hoping that they have the foresight to send him to another hospital for his scan because the sooner you both begin this journey the better for you both. Wishing you luck and sending you both hugsxxxx
Tracy, buying pixie powders, how exciting! I've been putting it off until I get to road test them for mess and reliability when I stay with Yvonne....she swears by them but I am yet to be converted, I want to make sure that I'm not going to get more on Brodie than on the card:-) Tell us how you get on with them.
June, your craft classes sound great, do you run them from a local craft shop or did you set them up yourself? I wish that I lived closer, I'd love to attend them.
Lorraine, hope you are feeling better, take carexxx
Wheely Bad, similarly, I do hope that you are managing with your help better than before. Have you had any news about your appeal to attend your hospital of choice? Sending hugs to you and Billyxxx
Yvonne, hope you've managed to cool down in time for your guests arriving, a sweaty red faced host is just so un appealing don't you think? I bet plenty of talc is being utilised as we speak, wouldn't want any chaffing now would we:-) Enjoy your roast dinner my lovelyxxxx

  113. Evening Sue
Exquisite card for us today. Ingenious use of the striplets which makes an absolutely stunning back drop for the beautiful Gilliam die. The whole 'ensemble' is so gorgeous x
Before I watch your videos I try to work out exactly which dies you have used. Love it when I get it right. And today was one of those days. Those poppies are so unbelievably versatile and I love that. Thanks Sue x
Well the temperature here has been what many of you would love and revel in soaking up the rays but I'm afraid I am struggling to cope. Even industrial amounts of talcum powder strategically placed in creases failed to stop the sweat from making me so uncomfortable. So yes Laine you were right, the talc was utilized but to no avail x
Pam - I'm intrigued, what is it you do that means you leave so early? I don't think I will be first. I struggle to get on here before 8pm so it will be a miracle if ever did get in before you x
P - we aren't that interesting. Well I am but Laine - so boring. Lol x
Tina - I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. As you say, that's life but sometimes it stinks! Sending you and hubby virtual hugs. We're all here for you x
June - don't they say it's not the winning it's the taking part. I thought I had done well making 2 cards on Sunday but get you girl - 5. Well done. Hugs x
Cheryl - I think you may have quite a wait so I hope you can be patient. It will be a miracle if I take Pam's medal. Hugs x
Tracy - proud of you - pixie powders - yipee. Hugs x
Laine - have to say I am really impressed that you were up to the challenge. I am trying to think of another to give you when we speak next time so be warned. My roast dinner was worth all the sweat and tears and thoroughly appreciated by my mum in law and sister in law and surprisingly Jake expressed gratitude more than usual which always makes me a little suspicious!! Hope the sun comes too visit you tomorrow and you get your fix hun. Speak (again) soon x
Bed time now. No cards made today but I am aiming to have a crack at at least 1 tomorrow. I think I will use the backgrounds I made using the fantwinkly pixie powders. After all I do have quite a few x
Sending everybody lots of love specially Wheely, Lorraine, Maria, Tina and Mick, Francis, Elaine and Andrew and any of my banter buddies x
    Take care
    Happy thoughts
