Happy Birthday To You

Good Sunday morning all!    A simple poppy card for you today!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and embossed it using the Wild Roses embossing folder for texture.  Next I cut the Stitched Lattice Frame die in both white and black card using the two largest dies in the set to cut frames.  I nipped the long sides of the frame and used them as borders sandwiching the black between two whites.  This required that I cut two frames in white to have enough pieces to create the border.  Next, I cut several of the Exquisite Poppies (enough to create three flowers of varying sizes.)  I spritzed them all with water and crumpled them.  I let them dry then assembled the flowers.  I added black centres and matching pearls.  I seated all three flowers at the junction of my border and added Olive Branch accents cut out of white card and black metallic lynx.  I cut the sentiment from the Happy Birthday Shadow Box in both white and black and shadowed it before adding it to the upper portion of the card.  I completed the card with white, red and black mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 1/2" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Margaret Rogers!!!
Smileranna!!!

  114. What a beautiful card, Sue. I especially love the shadow behind the sentiment and those wonderful poppies :).
Took a break from trying to get the house back in order after the decorating and carpet laying. I was just going to sit outside for a while as it hasn't been too hot today as it's quite breezy (so when isn't it breezy in my part of Cornwall lol). After a few minutes I had a brainwave...let's lay the new lawn!!
Do I sound like a mad woman...laying a new lawn on a whim!! Well, let's confess that it's a roll out lawn!! I bought some of the wonderful artificial grass that you can get now. I remember when 'astro turf' first came out and it was the last thing you would want in your garden. I found some really good stuff online and after checking out the samples the company sent me (no charge), I decided on the second dearest out of the four choices and I have to say that I think it looks rather good. Since it's been down I've not been able to get the cat off it, so that's a thumbs up from my BuddyBoy :).
Hopefully I can now put my mind to finishing up indoors so that I can find my craft room again after it's been used for storage since before I started to decorate :)
    Bejay xx

  129. Hi Sue. WOW !!! Simple, elegant, stunning !!! I love the design you have created using the stitched lattice frames, in black and white card. The background EF is lovely. I love how you have " shadowed" your Happy Birthday word die. I have started doing this myself now with my dies, not just your word ones but sometimes with your country collection dies to. It creates such a great effect. I think without a doubt the most stunning elements of your card are those gorgeous, gorgeous beautiful red poppies !!!!! They just look amazing Sue. I most definately must try this technique out with my Poppy dies. They look so realistic. Thank you for sharing your stunning card today. Sending you lots of love Sue from Tres x x x

Congratulations to all of today's lucky winners love from Tres x x x

  134. Evening Sue
Love this card. Loved it when you demonstrated it on Hochanda and think it is stunning. Got to try this one but I say that about all of your cards x
Apologies for my absence. I know that Laine let you know the reason for my not being around and I will give an extended version of events but I am on here much later than I had hoped so it will have to wait.
I have not been able to check out everyone's comments yet but Laine told me that many of you had mentioned me and sent love. It is so touching that the majority of us have never met but when someone in the Wilsonette family is hurting there is an outpouring of support and love from so many. It is so heartwarming. Thank you x
I will say goodnight and send love and happy thoughts to you all. I am really hoping to spend time tomorrow catching up on missed comments.

  137. I am Swiss woman and I have known you since the beginning of the year through the online shop Craft World where I found to purchase all dies, stamps and embossing folders you have created! Since I am careful not to miss any of your videos on you tube and I enrolled in your blog. I could also receive a gift because I just spent all the day to see everything on your blog since the beginning (2009) LOL. It's stunning to see how you are constantly improved, dear artist! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful cards, always more beautiful than the other! God bless you!
