Thinking Of You

Good Sunday morning all!  I found this colour card in a shop in Florida and just loved it so had to jump right in and use it!  Not sure what it is called but it is sort of a cross between a raspberry and a grape colour (not that my photography clearly shows that!)  I used the decorative die from the Brussels die set set vertically in the upper portion of the card and the decorative die from the Atlas Mini Striplet set horizontally in the lower portion of the card.  I adhered it to a piece of milk card so it showed through the cut out areas.  Next I cut the Zurich die out of milk card and backed it with milk card as well.  I cut the die in half and took a bit out of the centre, reassembled it into a more square sort of shape, then mounted it in a diamond orientation in the centre of the Brussels die cut.  I cut the Gillian die out of milk card next and added it to the centre.  This die hid the cut lines nicely from the reassembly of the Zurich die.  I stamped mt sentiment from the Petite Lavish Sentiment set and cut it out with the centre of the Gillian die.  I inked lightly around it with the Lilac whisper Colour Cloud and mounted it in the centre.  Finally I added a small floral poppy element atop a silk ribbon bow (from my stash).  The card was then completed with a pierced milk mat, a thin coloured mat to match and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.

Due to the recent blog launch, there is no comment game this week, but don't forget to check back tomorrow afternoon for the list of die winners!  I am hoping to get all the drawings finished and posted by mid afternoon!  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue, love the colour of the card too.
Elaine, glad both boys are home, I'm so sorry Andrew is not well. He has been through such a lot lately, he needs time to recover.
Tracey, this is the hardest thing for any child to watch with a parent. Your dad will appreciate everything his girls are doing for him, but you have to be careful too. You are still recovering yourself. Just be there for him and treasure your time together. I'm glad you got the legal side sorted.
Lorraine hope you get your problem sorted soon.
Tina and Mick, Pat and Sarah, still sending big hugs and to all on the blog.

I was a bit unsure about doing this the first time but true to form you made it so easy for me and i was pleased with the end result lol. The Gillian is my favourite of the moment its just so delicate and lacey. I can see why you needed this colour card stock its gorgeous. Enjoyed all your shows over the weekend and learned a few new techniques. You are such a talented and inspirational lady a true professional and i love it when something goes wrong you never shy away and try and hide it you just tell us to use it and hide it with a embellishment or just through it away its just a piece of card lol. Hope you had a great time doing your shows it looked like you were having a lovely time. Take care Sue and a BIG thank you for a brilliant weekend of shows.

  92. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is a bonnie card Sue and i can see why you liked the colour of the card that you have as it is not as deep as the aubergine, mauve, or plum card that is already in the card stock pallet, it is a sort of soft form of them. It goes nicely with the milk coloured card that you have used. I'm doing really well in the die stakes today as i have a total of none of today's beauties to even try this out, sorry Sue but i can admire from a far. We have a lovely point at this moment in time up here at the ochils but how long it will last for is another question entirely, so i hope that you are having a wee bit of a rest before starting to create once more. THank you Sue for a gorgeous card and for such a whirlwind tour of your new creations this week.
Oh Tina, i know it will be hard for you having Mick at home while he still hasn't returned to how he was, but it is great news that you have him home and i can only hope that Mick will get better each day even if it is only slightly. Oh how i wish we could have seen the light in his eyes when he got to hold his brand new grandson. I remember when i had Kirsten the look in my daddy's eyes when he held her, terrified mind you that he would drop her, but oh that sparkle that lit up his eyes was wonderful. I'm still sending you and Mick hugs flower just so that you know there is someone thinking of you.
Elaine, i'm glad that Darren can see the funny side, but i don't think the laughter will do his stitches much good, lol. He will just need to pretend he is on holiday in the Med and go around in his jesus sandels. Andrew is having such a rough time and i think even if he wanted to, it will be hard for him to eat any amount of food. With both boys out of hospital now will make it a lot easier on you although i doubt if it will stop you worrying. Sending you and your two lovely boys hugs and i hope that they both recover if what some what slower in Andrews case.
Tracy flower, i found some of the most beautiful people on earth on this blog as they really do care about each other which means so much when you have no one that you can turn to. I'm glad that your sister got dad's mobile phone sorted out but having had so many jobsworths when i was trying to sort out for Dad (because Mum was somewhere else on a different universe) and then for Mum, they don't seem to understand that they are not helping you any in tasks that you have no option but do and they seem to lack basic human compassion, so i so understand your frustration. Please flower now that you have some of the important things done and sorted, just try and enjoy what little time maybe left with your dad. Sending you hugs, love and prayers flower.
Well i don't know how but i woke up this morning thinking it was Monday and couldn't understand why O.H. wasn't away to work like he should have been, well he would have if it hadn't been Sunday. Lord alone knows how i managed it but i totally forgot that there was 7 days to the week, 2 of which make up every normal persons weekend, except Norah's. I have just had a parcel delivered from C&C there which just add's to my confusion, i think i should go back to bed and do the wake up thing again. HAve a good day all that can and sending hugs to those that need, want or could just do with,
    love and crafty hugs

It's a really pretty die, one of my favourite ever I think. Plus Gillian is the name of a good friends late mother who did a lot for me when I was a teenager so it's also special for that reason. She loved bright colours and beautiful patterns and I think she'd have adored this die too! A gorgeous card and given the tasks ahead of me for my brother i need to absorb all I can! I really enjoyed all the shows I saw, 2 hour slots a much better idea I think, watching you do the flowers was a huge help. Looking forward to your next shows already, hugs, T x

Tracy, sending big hugs and good wishes, my heart goes out to you. Hope your dad is comfortable as can be xxx

Pat L, Sarah is a bona fide star, I'm sure she misses her school friends so much when away at hospital. A very brave little girl indeed. Hope her and her parents have a super holiday, big hugs to you all xxx

Nanna Tina, so pleased Mick got a cuddle with the baby, big hugs and best wishes to you both xxx

Elaine, it all happens at once, doesn't it? Hope both your lads will be feeling better soon, big hugs xxx

Norah, hope Rory feels better soon and I hope what he has isn't contagious, big hugs to both of you xxx

Steph, hope you get home ok and that your problems breathing has either righted itself or gets sorted asap, big hugs xxx

Best wishes and big hugs to P, Theresa W, Lorraine F, Maria, Yvonne and Laine (play nice lol) and Lynda- Billy sends wags, woofs and fluffy cuddles too. Memory still getting back on track so if I forgot names I'm sorry.

Little migraines Wednesday turned into big repetitive migraine Thursday and Friday. Ok now but pretty wiped out so I'll love you and leave you here. Big hugs to all and extra big hugs to all that need them. Have a lovely Sunday and I'll see you all soon,

    T x

  110. Such a pretty colour of card - it's sort of a mulberry colour, and just sets off beautifully with the white lace. Hope you have a great Sunday, and that you have some time to relax after all your shows x

  112. Hi Sue,
What a pretty card today and I love the colours you've chosen for the cards used.
I'm in the second day of trying to rearrange my craft space, which I have to share with a ful size tumble dryer and a small chest freezer. I'm trying to do all this after twisting my back on Thursday getting the dog into the bath tub for a shower, so it's taking FOREVER!!
Yesterday I thought I was going to have to sleep on the inflateable matress in the lounge room because my bed was covered with craft supplies..but I was determed to try to get some kind of decent sleep...so all the supplies ended up on the floor. My bedroom looked like something from one of those hoarders shows lol.
Today, before having to stop with back pain, I actually got the work tops moved and the home made (and very shaky) shelf unit back in place...and I actually found a section of floor!!
I'm determined to try and get it finished tomorrow and if I do I'm giving myself a 'well done' present on Friday...since 2004 my cell phones have all been second hand, mostly gifts from my sis when she upgrades as she's on a contract...I've decided it's about time that I had a brand new one!!! It's pure self indulgence but I think I'm worth it as the next big spend is going on a new carpet and a new lawn...both meaning more hard work lol.
The draw tomorrow is a goal to reach for ma and if I can get the mess I've created almost finished by the time the results are posted, I'll be one very happy crafter as I might even get to do something creative instead of just clearing up and shifting stuff.
Happy crafting everyone, and good luck in tomorrow's draw :)
    Bejay xx

  118. Hi sue.
Smashing card just so many things to look at on it. Nice colour too a little different. Loved watching ur shows I'm watching the last one now whilst I'm typing lol I could listen to ur voice all day so relaxing and soothing.

Well ladies. Was up seeing dad this morning. He's had a good nights rest but was quite sick this morning and whilst I was in visiting. I feel there is more coming out than what he's managing to put in!!!
It's heartbreaking. I feel as tho I'm falling apart with grief. I managed my own journey fine so why can't I seem to cope when it's my dad it's strange I can't quite explain how I'm feeling apart from my heart feels as tho it's getting squashed. I'm going As much as I can.

Laine yes it's frustrating to be told not long! But how long is long? My sis and I were kinda told as we badgered a nurse but we don't want to tell anyone else. But to be honest I can't see us getting that I think it's going to be quicker as they don't tell u to come and go as u please at visiting.

Thank u all for understanding. It's nice to know that other people have experienced something similar and that it does get better with time.
But I'm feeling so hard done by this year!!!

Anyways good luck everyone with the draw tomorrow
    Love to all xx

  122. Hi Sue, I'd only be too happy to jump on a plane to card hunt on behalf of us all but I think by the time I got there another 100 or so blog lovers would have beaten me to it lol so I'll go along with the idea that you get it copied by the Foundation card manufacturer would that work do you think ? Bet you bought every single sheet in stock to bring back to the UK !!
I need to find out how to catch up with your recent show's as I missed them all I'm really cheesed off about that I can tell ya.
Stunning card Sue, absolutely blooming gorgeous - if I wasn't struggling to already get air into my lungs I'd say you've taken my breath away lol I'm starting to feel quite tired with all this breathing milakie my ribs are aching now, it's ridiculous, so must ring for an appointment first thing in the morning as Thursday it was that bad I nearly hit the deck which gave poor Andy a fright. Anyway I didn't so that's that.
It's so frustrating to see your blog comments have fallen again Sue, I'm so sorry. We know you are our super woman by all you do for us so it really doesn't matter about the comment game, like someone has already mentioned - it won't stop us from commenting so no big deal right ?
Enough from me, so my usual hugs and Sunday smiles coming your way, and hoping to learn more from your inspirational mind when I find out how to catch up (just hope I'm not too late) !!

Hope you're having a good day xxx

  123. Hi Sue. Beautiful card and I loved all your recent shows. Can't wait to see you demonstrate the Christmas dies when they are on Hochanda. I promised I wouldn't buy any dies this month but couldn't resist the new Christmas shadow ones. Oh well, life is too short to deprive yourself. Take care. xx

  125. Hi Sue and everyone

What a gorgeous card, I can see why you are so taken with the colour. It's lovely.

I like all the dies you've used today, but the Gillian is singing to me! It looks so nice like this. Obviously I love the poppy, but this little one just looks so cute over the ribbons.

Tracy, so sorry to hear about your Dad and all you are going through. I'm not surprised your heart is breaking. It is perfectly normal to feel as you do. It is always harder to watch those you love suffer than to suffer yourself. I almost died twice in quite a short space of time, and was really ill afterwards, but I always told people that although it had been terrible for me at the time, it was much worse for my husband to live through. He hated seeing me in so much pain and so helpless. I think you have every right to feel hard done by this year. I'm sending you love and hugs to help you stay as strong as you need to be.

    Love Helen xxx

  129. Hi Sue
What a beautiful colour. I appreciate that the true colour is probably not represented in this photograph but it looks lovely. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Brussels die as I treated myself to the Belgian collection when you were on Hochanda. Very exciting - any new arrival is exciting!
Hope you have managed to have a slowish day today giving you a chance to recharge your batteries for the next whirlwind of activities you have in store x
I would like to point out that I did post a comment about yesterdays card but I am a dimwit and posted it on the wrong day. I posted it on Friday's so it looks like I commented twice on Friday and not at all yesterday x
So if anyone is interested in what I had to say for myself yesterday go back to Friday - Maria and Theresa there was a subtle dig at Laine - just to keep you happy x
Tracy - I'm not surprised you are feeling hard done by. Been a tough 2016 for you. I think at times like this we wish there were answers to all those questions we keep asking ourselves especially the question why. Unfortunately we very rarely get answers but in time we find that we slowly learn to accept what is thrown at us and over time it does become easier. Watching someone else going through pain and suffering is so much harder going through it ourselves. I really feel for you hun. Big warm hugs my friend x
Wheely - it is hard to be nice to someone like Laine, who puts herself on a pedestal. I am trying to be nice - honest. Lots of love x
Pat - hope the trip to Phoenix Park is a success and gives some much needed fun family time x
Theresa - please don't humour Laine. I know that the truth hurts but she needs to realise that just because she believes she is favoured over all does not make it bona fide. Lol x
Nana Tina - sending you love and hugs x
Lorraine - thinking of you and sending huggles x
Elaine - hope you are finding things a little less hectic now that both boys are home. Hugs to you and yours x
Maria - unless I have missed your comments I think you have been 'away' from here for a couple of days - hope you are OK. Hugs x
Laine - what mischief have you been up to today? Speak to you Tuesday if I don't speak to you before x
This is quite early for me to comment but I wanted to make sure I got it right and managed to post on the right day - doh x
Have a pleasant evening everyone. At 8.30 I have the pleasure of the Musketeers to look forward to. A little bit of fantasising about rough and ready bearded leather clad men is an enjoyable distraction from the football.
    Take care everyone
    Love and happy thoughts

  136. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What immediately strikes me about this card is the beautiful purple colour, deep and rich but not as dark as the plum we are used to....what a shame that a trip to Florida would be required to purchase it, not that that is any hardship, quite the contrary but the airfare makes it rather an expensive purchase:-)
The next thing that grabs me is the gorgeous Gillian die, stunning in it's intricacy. Using the Brussels die as a backdrop is ingenious and very effective.....Yvonne will no doubt take great satisfaction in reminding me that she can make this little gem now that she has splashed out on the Belgium collection, whereas I will have to appreciate it from a digital perspective:-(
Lovely card Sue, it really perked up a dull Sunday for mexxxx
Feel so tired today, could gratefully have slept the day away but decided to fight it and soldier on....what a trouper eh?:-)......and had a relaxing afternoon watching the impromptu Wimbledon coverage......feeling quite guilty though, I have a certain someone's birthday card to create as soon as and I just can't find the oomph to get me back into crafting again. What do you do when you have no shortage of dies and products but can't for the life of you motivate yourself to use it? There! I've admitted it! I feel like the crafting equivalent of an armchair sportsman, watching endless YouTube videos and crafting shows but not participating or creating myself.....doesn't stop me buying new stash though even if I have more than I can comfortably admit to:-) A good shake and a kick up the bum is all I need!
Tracy, my heart is breaking for you, you have had more than anyone should have to contend with and even if you have met the challenge with courage and fortitude it is hardly surprising that you find yourself questioning the apparent fairness of your situation. In an ideal world you would be recovering in peace and quiet, planning for the future....but life is imperfect and takes no prisoners unfortunately. Watching your Dad deteriorate, waiting for the inevitable is perhaps the hardest part of this experience. The week before my Dad died when he was fighting paralysis, swine flu, pneumonia and sepsis was harrowing, waiting for that phone call.....when it eventually happened there was a sense of relief, relief that his suffering was over and relief that the uncertainty was at an end. I hope that you don't mind me saying this but hard though it has been to lose my Dad, it was harder to watch him suffer. Sending you a warm hug honeyxxx
Pat, I hope Sarah and her brother enjoy their little break away, they deserve itxxx
Wheely Bad, what do you mean be nice? I'm always friendly and understanding, even with those that don't deserve it:-)
Theresa, I appreciate your acknowledgement of my status but leading on Yvonne could worsen her psychosis, be very careful, she may be dangerous if crossed......:-)
Yvonne, enough already! If it wasn't bad enough that you are trying to usurp my position as Sues favourite....have YOU won the Wednesday card giveaway, weekly comment AND a blog launch die?.......but you have been crowing about buying the Belgian collection to anyone who will listen in the knowledge that I didn't have the funds to buy anything:-( that's cruel in anyone's book! If you are prepared to apologise for hurting my feelings then I may consider speaking to you as planned.......otherwise........:-)xxxx
Hugs to Beth, Rebecca, Jan, Maria, Pam, Frances,Elaine , Linda, Lorraine,P, and anyone in pain or caring for a loved one.

    Crafty hugs

  137. Hi Sue. This is a stunning card today !!! I, to love the "wine" colour of the cardstock. The Belgian Dies you have used are fantastic. Very pretty. The Gillian die looks great to and I do love the cute little "petite" Atlas die you have used as decoration at the bottom of the card. It looks really pretty and delicate. All of these dies seem to mix and match so well together. The poppies die looks fab. A really lovely perfect finishing touch !!! I loved all of your shows on Hochanda this weekend. Thank you so much for all your hard work. You are an absolute joy to watch on tv and you seem to have so much fun too !!! Gorgeous cards and demos.
