Floating Alcohol Ink

Hello bloggers!  While it is probably a bit odd to some of you to see a truly clean and simple card come from my hands, I just felt like this technique required it to show off the beauty of the finished piece.  It is great fun to do so I hope you will watch the video and give it a go yourself!

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Theresa G!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  7. Morning Sue. There is nothing unusual or strange about today's sample. Those that have been following you since you started this blog - what, about 5 - 7ish years now maybe (I found you just over 2 years ago) have seen so many changes in the designs of your work, from the Spellbinder days to now, your own collection with your name on how incredible is that ? So nothing ever surprises us when we open the door to your lovely blog each day our eye's just get bigger our mouths wider and our WOW'S louder oh, and our bank accounts smaller, so keep doing what you do because we love looking forward to whatever comes next, and whatever is coming next. A lovely soothing, calming start to our day, with a more masculine colour change in the background this would make the ideal CAS male card.
Many congratulations to Theresa G. What an honour it is to own the gorgeous Wednesday card, another lucky 'blog friend' to join the club.
Sending my usual hugs to you Sue and Sam. Have a great day xx

  27. Another technique to try - don't have any alcohol inks, but think may just need some! Really like the wee die cut into the larger one. Your video, as ever, much appreciated, Sue.
Pet pals - thanks for asking. Little Beauty (black of course) was a feral cat who never grew so is about the size of a 5 month kitten. She still doesn't like being touched but needs must (plus sedation at vets).... slight kidney problems and anaemia, so B12 jabs and fingers crossed. Thankfully will live to fight another day, but she doesn't have any 'spare' fat to sustain her - only 2.2kg. Was very fearful and still am, but for the moment she is happy enough and eating.
Well done to Theresa on the card win.
Hugs to all, especially Tracy and our poorly friends.

  70. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is a bonnie clean and simple card Sue and i think that our Tracy could just use some of what it conveys at this time. I love the softness of the colours that are behind the hugs and it shows that it doesn't need to be strong and vibrant to make an impact. Thank you Sue and a lovely card that just says everything it needs without needing to shout.
Well done Theresa G on winning this weeks card, that was a really bonnie card and i hope you have it's place all ready for it.
Sorry that it wasn't your turn Theresa W but it will be one day. Congratulations on becoming an Auntie, have fun looking for those tiny clothes for the babies and the cuddles that are just waiting upon you opening your arms. Twins are normally smaller than other babies because there is the two of them, i was 5lb and my twin Jim was 4lb 7oz and there was 46 minutes between us. The doctors kept telling mum that she was only having the one baby as she was too small to have two in there. They were trying to get Mum cleaned up and checked over after Jim came along when they discovered ooops they had made a mistake and there was another baby waiting it's turn to come. The most surprising thing about it all was when we moved to Sauchie and started after the christmas holidays to find another girl not only born on the same day as us but she was born inbetween our births. Enjoy the babies' and their cuddles.
Pam flower, i am so very proud of Rory as he does have things that are more like scaling Mount Everest to overcome but he is doing it one at a time and getting more control of himself. The thing that i wish is that i could get him to join in with others more but he is very much a loner and finds it difficult to join in with others, although if he finds someone a bit like himself he takes to them like a fish to water and it's trying to prise him away then from his new found friend. Thank you for thinking about my boy Pam it is really kind of you.
Sending hugs to Tracy who could do with them wrapped around her and her sister, Andrew and i hope the antibiotics take effect Elaine for him over the weekend as your boy isn't half going through the mill the now, to Mick who i hope is improving even if it slowly by each passing day and all the rest of the Wilsonettes that could really do with, want or need some, the hugs are there for you all,
    love and crafty hugs

  80. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Clean and simple cards aren't usually my thing but after watching the creative process on your video I could be a convert:-)....normally, if it doesn't have a flower, glitter and pearl embellishments then it's unfinished in my world. However, the fact of the matter is that this delightful card doesn't need any of that. I love the water bath technique with the alcohol inks, it's so effective.....and adding the micro beads is a stroke of pure genius that gives the background not just colour but texture too. The Hugs die is fantastic and suitable for males and females of all ages....I have it but ashamedly haven't used it yet:-(. I think that I will definitely be giving this little stunner a trial run.
What am I going to do with my time when the tennis has finished tomorrow ? I'm not sure if my Mum always shares my enthusiasm though since she's spent the past three hours or so dead to the world:-)....I think that she might make a bigger effort for Andys game though.
I have been repeatedly, and rather rudely, interrupted by two rather sodden pussies wandering in and out of the rain....I don't know if they are peculiar in their joy at being rubbed within an inch of their lives with an old towel:-) So a rather quiet and un eventful afternoon.....
P, Little Beauty sounds so dinky, she's half the size of my Darcey, who isn't a big cat either. I think that you must have a season ticket to your local vets:-) I hope that the B12 injections help your baby with her anaemia and that her other ailments subside....I hate to hear of a furry four paws being unwell, I'd much rather suffer the illness instead, hope she perks up soonxxx
Elaine, sorry to hear of Andrews trip to the hospital, hope the medication puts an end to his woes so that he can proceed with the next stage of his treatment, hugs to you bothxxxx
Annie, how awful for you to have oedema, it can really get nasty and rather painful to boot....I had cellulitis a couple of years ago that developed into blood clots on my lung so I do hope that you don't develop it, keep your legs elevated above your waist if possible, it can helpxxx
Hugs to Tina and Mick, hope you are continuing to improvexxx
Hugs to my poorly bestie Yvonne, life's just not the same without your acid tongue dear, get well soon dearxxxxx
Cuddles to all my blog buddies, take care and I wish you well and a happy weekendxxxx

  99. Hi Sue and everyone

A gorgeous card Sue, not had chance to watch the video yet, but will definitely do soon. Nice clean and simple card with beautiful colours coming through.

I have been to the craft show at Doncaster racecorse today, which is why I am so late commenting. I bought some bargain dies, 2 of Sue's, 1 Spellbinders and two small Presscut ones. Some Cosmic shimmer PVA and some foundation card. I joined in the make and takes , making a parchment butterfly, and a spray of blossoms from paste.

I was pleasantly surprised to see John Lockwood demo'ing there. He didn't have much room, but he was so nice to the people watching him and asking questions. He has a lovely calmness about him, not to mention being very talented.

I am hoping to return tomorrow to hunt out more bargains. It was great to see Sue's dies everywhere, especially the new Christmas collection.

  105. Great video! I haven't tried marbling with the alcohol inks, but it is now on my to-do list. Love the Hugs die---but I think I will try using a colored cardstock in back to make the &kisses stand out more. Thanks for the tutorial.
