Best Wishes

Hello there my crafty friends!  It's all about the gilding flakes for today's card!  If you have never used them before, do not be afraid!  They are so easy to use (a bit messy, but not too bad!).  I covered a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Next I cut two of the New Zealand Noble borders out of white card.  I peeled the backing paper off the sticky adhesive sheet and paid down both of the borders facing each other and allowing a small edge of sticky paper behind both straight edges of the dies.  Next I added the Sunlight Speckle gilding flakes and used a piece of a Rubit Scrubit pad to move them into the remaining exposed sticky sheet areas.  I used the pad further to refine the flakes and remove the excess bits.  Next I used the outer cutting die in the Maggie set to cut a shape into the centre.  I added mounting cushion to the aperture to raise it for dimension.  I recessed the Maggie die cut piece back into the card after mounting the aperture onto a separate piece of white card.  The pattern from the borders was continued, but with the added dimensional aspects to it.  I stamped a sentiment from the Petite Lavish Sentiments set by Creative Expressions and cut it out with the centre of the New Zealand tag.  I cut a full tag to seat the sentiment on and added it to the centre of the Maggie aperture.  I finished the card with my usual pierced mats and layers and some flatback pearls as accents.  I hope you like it!  The finished dimensions are 7" x  9 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

A beautiful golden card for a beautiful golden day here today, Autumn is just hanging on and on, the nights are very cool but the days spectacular.
I think I need a video for this one but I have all of the dies so may just jump in feet first and see how I go, bit confused about the centre but it is so rich looking I must have a go.

  10. Well, good morning Sue, as soon as this morning's sample hit my screen it brightened up a very miserable morning in Lancashire. The colours that show themselves the flakes are amazing. I've not even looked at my two new post of flakes yet but I'm sure as soon as I find my enthusiasm for craft again they will be the first thing I will try again. Just a small helpful tip (I hope) I use to place a piece of brown parcel paper beneath my chosen container of flakes, and a piece under the card I was guilding and it cuts down the static of the flakes, hence - fewer flying flakes getting on your hair or dog/cat hair lol it was a tip passed down to me from a guilding flake addict, then any loose flakes or rubbed off flakes go back into your container easier without fighting with them when they refuse to go back in without you spending extra time clearing naughty fly away's up ☺ when you could be admiring your end product. This card is beautiful Sue. Really hoping to get back my need and want to craft feeling soon !
Sending friendly hugs your way and hope you have a good day xx

  81. The words rich and opulent have been used many times by other Wilsonettes above and I have no choice but to echo these words as they s precisely describe this beautiful card. 109. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Beautifully intricate with more than a touch of decadence. The rich colours of the gilding flakes give a warmth to this gorgeous creations, and the aperture provides the main focal element. I love gilding flakes, they add a touch of class to a card with their opulent tones......they are a hazard to work with and have to be handled with care in a controlled environment, particularly when you have furry four paws:-)
Gilding flakes are a favourite of mine, particularly during the festive season......speaking of which, I am super excited at the thought of your new festive release being launched in June:-) Whilst I'm not in the least bit seasonally inclined, I love to see the fresh new ideas you always manage to surprise us with.
I've had a busy couple of days being super industrious, I made a couple of cards for a close friends birthday. I managed to scrape together a little bit of inspiration courtesy of your blog dear Sue and the results are satisfying. My friend Gill popped over for a SW card master class and we spent a few hours attempting to emulate genius....nae chance! Yesterday I felt pressured by the fact that I had left it so late to make the cards.....too much sun worshipping last week....but today was much more relaxed. I even braved using Sues paper pad for the first time, I was determined to actually use it rather than just stroking it:-).
It all provided me with a timely distraction, the past few days have been difficult. This has been the first birthday without my Dad.....he used to 'surprise' me every year with a visit from Liverpool where he stayed and it just feels strange without him here, I miss him:-(
Tracy, I'm so sorry to hear of your Dads situation. Life can be so cruel and twisted at times , it doesn't seem fair that just as you have reached an important point in your recovery you are dealt another devastating body blow. My thoughts and prayers are with you honey as you come to terms with these developments. Try to be strong, and we are right behind you every step of the wayxxxx
Nana Tina, it's always a real treat to get your nails done, I hope that you enjoyed it. Good luck to your grand daughter in her trainingxxx
Steph, thanks for the great tip.
Lorraine, hope you enjoyed your trip out with your Mum.
