Just Because

Good Sunday Morning all!  I do hope that I get to meet a few more of you from the blog today at Ally Pally!  It's a great weekend if you are able to come!  Today's card is from the shows in January.  I started by cutting the Intertwining Circle Mini Striplet three times without the cutting edge.  Next I inked up strips of card to go behind each section using three shades of Colour Cloud inks.  I covered each section with a sticky adhesive sheet and then stuck each section behind the cut outs.  Once adhered I coated the remaining sticky adhesive with Diamond Sprinkles.  I used the Double Pierced Rectangles to create a multi layered frame.  I used both the original and the B set to create the frame.  I cut the Ornate Frame Just Because in white and backed it with a piece of white card covered with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I cut several of the Just Because sentiment then inked it with Decadent Denim and coated it with clear embossing powder.  I heated it until it melted and created a glossy finish.  I adhered the sentiment to the sticky sheet in the frame, then coated it with Diamond Sprinkles and seated it in the middle of the card.  I finished it with a white pierced mat, a thin layer inked with the Coordinating Colour Cloud, then a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  12. Good morning Sue. Beautiful card, love the graduated colours. A "Just Because" card is a favourite of mine, I enjoy seeing a person's face when they receive a card totally out of the blue, it often cheers up someone who has been feeling a little down. Your show was great, it must have been strange for you having a live audience as well as a TV one. Can't wait to see your new collection.
Frances (fluffycat), thanks for the tip about the blending solution for wax, I'm another person who has a problem with the CS wax drying out. Hugs to all especially anyone in pain and anyone else who's back to school tomorrow!!! Sue XXX

  17. Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes***I just love the ‘intertwining circle’ die, took me so long to find it as always sold out everywhere, so amazingly but not surprisingly popular. Love the gradient colours in background, at first glance I thought it was done with the mica powders, as in a previous card/video, but how stunning the effect with the gradient colour cloud, must try the method of clear embossing on the sentiment die it has a wonderful result. As always thank you so sincerely & gratefully for sharing this adoring card with us Sue x x x

For my first time at AP, or any craft show, I had a wonderful time, it wasn’t just about spending money (although it helped...lol), it was more about soaking up the atmosphere, the watching & learning of fabulous techniques (if I could get a look in...lol... as the demonstrators & ‘make & take’ tables were mind numbingly crowded) seeing all the amazing card creations laid out before you & especially about having the chance to meet our mentors - the lovely, wonderful people who work so hard to inspire & motivate us all so much on a daily basis. Apart from the Live Show this was the highlight of my day. A hug & a thank you, with our mentors, went a long way, for me, to gratefully show how much I appreciate their tireless time giving energy, their passion & their eagerness to share their astounding talents with us. After all they are lovely & down to earth just like any of us crafters, the difference being that they have that extra pizzazz, that extra special something which they choose to big-heartedly & generously share with us.

Thank you guys, it was lovely to meet you yesterday & it really made my day to meet you Sue, you looked lovely, happily in your element & you were totally amazing in the live show, wasn’t Leonie the perfect match for you as a presenter, such a lovely lady & herself so full of life & enthusiasm with a lovely sense of humour to boot. I think that the Hochanda crew did a magnificent job, they were very professional but fun at the same time, at least now when I watch the shows on TV I have more of an idea of what goes on behind the scenes to produce each program, very enlightening indeed.

When it came to, any questions from the audience, I eventually plucked up the courage & astounded myself by having a question for Sue, thank fully the producer thought it was a good one, but that did nothing to prevent my legs from turning to jelly, butterflies turning in my stomach & mouth quivering as I asked the question, as I stood there waiting, with microphone close enough to gobble up, I started to panic & didn’t think I would remember the question at all & it was only when I sat down that the reality of what I had just done had me literally shaking in my boots. Although I cannot drink because of my meds I sure needed a brandy or 2 at that moment...lol

Disappointingly I never got to meet or say hello to any fellow Wilsonettes, although card making is not his thing (bless him) I am thankful that I had my Mr B with me to keep me company, one blessing though he enjoyed Sue’s live show. I took your photo with us on my IPad LYNDA & I promise you we looked high & low for you on my rounds through the stalls, even kept a vigilant watch on my mobile in case you texted or rang to meet. Still I had a lovely, tiring day but fruitful day & wouldn’t have missed it for the world, even managed to obtain several of the ‘Metallic Gilding Polish’ & ‘Glitter frost’ amongst other delicious goodies.
I wish the Sunday AP visitors a pleasant journey & a lovely day, take care to one & all my friends my thoughts are always with you each & every one. Love ‘n’ (((hugs))) to you all & especially to you Sue (have a lovely day today) Beth B x x x x x

  25. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a truly beautiful card today and such a lovely way to make it too.

I saw you first thing yesterday at Ally Pally but you were so busy in the Hochanda Studio area although you did wave at us through the curtains and explained that you were doing things all morning up to 12 noon when you finished your live show, that I didn't get a chance to speak to you, I also popped back when you were on live TV and watched you with Leonie and it was fascinating to see how things were done from a TV studio perspective. Unfortunately I had to leave at 12 so didn't get a chance to chat a bit more which would have been lovely, but never mind I know where you are if I have any problems.

You were looking really good and it was so busy yesterday, much busier then previous years which is great because it is one of the shows that I love to go to. Yes I did get some of the new dies too, can't wait to see the samples you make with them. I also managed to get the complete set of the metallic polish oh Sue the colours are amazing. Also to meet all the CE crew, even the people who were manning the tills could not have been more helpful. Anyway I am waffling now so will talk again soon.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  33. Sunday Smiles to you Sue (sunny smiles for a change although it's like pea soup up here at present)

It has to be said you looked happy and totally relaxed yesterday and your demo's hints and tips were spot on - especially after my glue disaster last week lol still, I won't do that again in a hurry will I ?
I have to come clean and say this die never reached my wish list, it wasn't for me, that is until I saw more and more samples made with this by you and John, it never reached my wish list but reached my collection instead lol although I've not used it yet, but thanks to you and John the ideas are flowing. I love and adore the framework you add to your samples they just add so much to the card, I know I asked last week and am aware that a lot of the intro comments you pre-write and pre-schedule when you are on away days or on holiday, but would it be possible at some point to start and write down which frame off which set you use when you give us instruction as it would be so helpful to those of us that can't get to grips by just looking at the picture, I saved so hard to buy both sets I'd hate to see them gather dust just because I don't have the natural brain power to work it out.
Well I wish you well for another successful day at the show and leave you with my usual hugs for the day xx

I like the colours that you have used today as the changing hues just go so well together. Watched your show yesterday on my PC and really enjoyed seeing you and Leonie, you make a good team.
I've got that striplet and can't wait for the tiled one, that's another "cool" one (does one say this anymore? )
Bet Ally Pally was a blast for you, I'm sorry I couldn't be there.

  98. Wish I was close enough to come to Ally Pally but the trip across the pond is just too much for this old body!!! Hope all who attend have a great time!
Love this cool card! Reminds me of the 70's and funky music! TFS!

  99. Hi Sue,
What a beautiful card :). This striplet is on my wish list but at the moment my die buying has been put on hold as I'm trying to save up for a new storage cabinet...those of you who buy paper crafting magazines will have seen the one I mean...the company offers a nice discount for the readers from the list price and I'm saving up for the tall door-less cabinet with all the storage boxes inside. This would be a wonderful addition to my craft room as most of my storage right now consists of boxes from Poundland kept on a rickety home made shelf unit lol.

very late today after the trip to Sydney, the weather was perfect and it was a good drive, thank you Diane. Having a great time with the granchildren and tomorrow is card making afternoon with all of the majestic butterflies, perfect peonies and other Sue dies that I had to cut out and bring with me.
Love the intertwining circle die and ombre effect of the blues, beautiful card and suitable for so many occasions,

I received your dies yesterday that I ordered and today have spent far too many hours playing, but thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thanks for the inspiration you give us, I just wish I had half your energy and some of that magical inspiration you have.

  118. Hi Sue
First day back after not having been on the blog for over a week.
What a fabulous card to greet me. Absolutely stunning. Wonderful idea for a mans card but could definitely be 'girlied' up if the need arose.
I have not been able to comment since 1st April. I found myself completely wiped out and ME reared its ugly head with a vengeance. I managed to catch your 8pm show on Hochanda that Friday evening but felt so rough I was not able to view any of your shows live on the Saturday - thank the Lord for Catch up!!! You really did cram in the demos and the hints, tips and techniques - thank you so much x
Tuesday is fast approaching and I am attempting to contain my excitement and not burst into song at the mere thought of another chance to see you at work x
I watched you make history yesterday when the first live Hochanda show was broadcast from Ally Pally. You were brilliant, but then you always are. So lovely that Leonie was your partner in crime - you worked so well together. I do love Leonie x
I found myself feeling incredibly envious of all those lucky 'audience' members. I do feel that there was a distinct lack of vocal participation from the crowd and a need for a little heckling and trouble making. Obviously something that needs a little attention and I think I know just the person for that job - lol x
Seriously - I had not planned to 'do' A P this time but did find myself wishing desperately that I was there. It is such a fantastic weekend with a buzz and excitement that makes one feel like a child in a toy factory. To meet fellow Wilsonettes is wonderful and there is such a warm atmosphere amongst everyone that it makes you feel part of something really special.
I sincerely hope that those of you who were lucky enough to make it to A P this weekend had a wonderful time and have not upset your bank managers too much x
And of course to have the privilege of meeting Queen Sue herself has got to be the highlight of the year. It is such an honour to be able to see the expert in action - in person. I have so got to be there in September x
Okay wonderful Wilsonettes - please be patient whilst I spend the next few days getting up to speed with all your goings on. Serious brain fog is lingering so bear with me whilst I attempt to clamber my way back to something that resembles normality x
Loads of love to everyone especially my blog buddies who like to banter. Oh and not forgetting my arch rival - Laine x
Sue, I hope you are sitting with your feet up and a cuppa, or a glass of something stronger in order to charge your batteries for Tuesday. Oh and not forgetting your new die launch which surely must be any day now. Have had a little sneak peak and as always am bowled over and intrigued al at the same time x
Happy Sunday evening all. Happy thoughts x
    Crafty hugs

Great card today sue x it was lovely to meet you again today I could have happily watched you demo and chat all day you are a fantastic lovely lady x still amazed by the effect of the firework? pixie dust xxx glad I chose today to go although sold out of a couple of items on my list it was a bit quieter than yesterday looked x
Off to put my feet up I'm shattered but a lovely end to a difficult week x
Beth wish you were there today I would have asked for your autograph xxx you didn't look nervous on the tv when I watched it yesterday x I sat in the audience for phils show today and desperately wanted to ask if sues new dies would fit his stamps but my mouth dried up even thinking of asking !!! Silly aren't I? Glad you had a good day x
Take care everyone and sending hugs to sue and all the wilsonettes x

  121. Hi Sue, a lovely card that I remember from your TV show because it made me think again about the backgrounds I use for my striplets. I don't have any colour cloud inks but tried the ombre look with some of Tim's inks, it was quite good but then I tried it with varying shades of cardstock and that was much better. The glittering being the icing on the cake.
I hope today at AP went as well for you as yesterday seemed to and that you will have a good rest before your TV shows this week.

Yvonne - good to see you back but don't over-tax yourself too soon.
Thinking of all the other poorly Wilsonettes and wishing sunnier days for you all.

  126. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Well, this has got to be one of my favourite striplets but sadly it has been so popular that I have never had the chance to buy it whilst it was in stock:-(Nevermind, one day.....I love the ombré effect, it's lush and sparkly and fab-u-lous! I only have one colour cloud but wonder if I could achieve the effect with slightly differing shades of card instead, coated in diamond sprinkles?Mmmm, maybe not, I guess I'll just have to invest in some colour clouds instead:-) Like Steph, I would also appreciate it if you could let us know which frames you have used because I find it all a bit daunting/ confusing....I'm easily challenged you see!.....and don't really know how best to utilise these little gems.
Suffice to say I love all of the elements of today's creation and it's being popped into my must do folder forthwith....for when I get the die of course:-)
I'm afraid that my blog attendance this week has been woeful at best, I have my reasons that I won't bore you with but I am pleased to report that I did manage to see Sues show yesterday on catch up:-) Boy was I suitably impressed!
It's always a treat to watch you work but having Leonie as your wingman was great, she's so lovely and her enthusiasm is infectious. How daunting it must be when faced with a rapt audience....I would be catatonic with glee.....I learned so much from your demo but I would have dearly loved to have seen you in person, maybe in September:-).....I will sell a kidney if needs must in order to finally meet you in person.....don't be alarmed, you only need one:-)....well done Beth on asking our great leader a question, very brave indeed, and all the while you were sober ie no Dutch courage required, very impressive:-)
The excitement at ally pally was palpable, you felt a sense of occasion and I am glad to hear that so many of my fellow Wilsonettes had the opportunity to meet and greet our Sue at close quarters, she is much loved and appreciated yet remains so unaffected and humble.
I too am looking forward to Tuesday and another24 hr Suefest , how will I contain myself is a mystery just now but I have been known to utilise copious amounts of vino and sedatives to calm me down:-)
Feeling a little retro today, my brother took possession of my Mums infamous trifle bowl of my childhood and recreated her recipe and it looked and tasted identically.....he drove twenty miles with it carefully placed in his girlfriends lap, that's brotherly love:-)
He has been going through boxes of my Dads stuff and came across a photo of my fist day at school and one of me in my Dads arms kissing him, it brought a lump to my throat but happy times:-)
Wishing you all a lovely evening, and a nice relaxing day off for Sue, you deserve it!
    Hugs to all my buddiesxxxxxx

I shall rectify that next week as I know it is going to get used a lot.
Also the subtle shading with the inks in each section and the glitter gives it such a pretty finish.
