Gilded All Over

Hello bloggers!  I have to admit that this card is one of my favs, I did a bit of a happy dance when it was finished as it came out exactly like I envisioned  it in my minds eye!  It is a mixture of gilding flakes and gilding waxes applied so that they resemble each other!

The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  5. WOW Sue, no wonder you did a happy dance when you finished this, it's amazing. Maybe we can see a sample of your twerking this morning when you go live at 11am what a wonderful sight, our Sue doing creative twerking as she embosses with the Platnum.

Yes this is certainly dramatic and opulent and I need to watch your tutorial once the dog is taken out for her walk (any minute now)
I can't wait to pull up my reserved front seat later today as I've looked forward to it since you mentioned it. I hope all goes well for you today and I know some of the lovely ladies from the fb group are so excited about saying "hi" to you today.

  11. What brilliant camera shots as you were building up the embossed panels it showed the placement of the wax so well.
It's been a while since I've used the flake & glitter glue and flakes so forgot the golden rule the other day, hence a soaking wet, floppy piece of card that was never going to set clear as it should making its way to the bin with big 'snotty' bits of wet flakes clinging for its life lol. Oh well at least it wasn't foundation's card or the better make of flakes, it was my experimental flakes from when I first started fighting with pesky flakes, another lesson learnt from your valuable video, thanks for the reminder lol xx

  74. Oh Sue, this card is so regal looking, it's stunning. I love using gilding flakes and gilding wax.

Am hoping to buy some gilding polish if I can find someone who sells it at the Port Sunlight stamp show.

I'm currently playing with colour cloud inks. I adore the blendability, they react beautifully when you want a water droplet effect and are a dream to stamp with. Just can't get enough of them at the moment.

Hope you have a lovely time at Ally Pally, it's a bit too far for me to travel or I'd be there in a heartbeat. :-)

  95. Good morning Sue and Wilsonettes,
THis is a bit different, well a lot different from your normal Sue but i will keep looking as i think it might grow on me. I can see why you made it in the black as it shows up the gilding wax and embossing to its max but you know me and black. Have a great time at the Ally Pally with John and the others as it is a great show for you meeting all your Wilsonettes who if like me are just so excited at meeting our heros that we can only dream of meeting.
Tracy flower, you have been through a harrowing ordeal and you are almost at the end of your hard journey but you will get your strength back flower, you just need to give it time. At least if you have pink skin you wont need any blusher on so you're saving on the make up, you have back the skin of a young girl again, :) I hope that you have a great time up at Pitlochry flower and it will be just what the doctor ordered, some time to recharge your rather weakened batteries. Sending hugs down your way or rather across your way and please take it easy flower, one step at a time until you get some of that recharge in to your body. x
Sending hugs to all who need or want them today and who ever is away to Ally Pally enjoy yourselves.
    Love and crafty hugs

I adore this... I made a card last year in similar colours using mica instead of flake. The flake & gilding wax together knock this out of the park though. Stunning.

I'm watching you and Leonie live from A.P. Billy is next to me and sends a big doggy kiss your way. I hope everyone visiting the show over the weekend has a brilliant time. Jealous? Yes but watching helps and I may have to treat myself latest on.

Nanna Tina, big hugs to you and hubby. Can't believe he's been in hospital 10 weeks now. I hope you get some 'me' time as the travel/ worry must be a strain. Take care, won't you XXX

Tracy, you so deserve a holiday after your treatment. Just the one left and you're all done. Big hugs xxx

Biggest hugs for Tina E & family xxx Billy sends you cuddles and kisses.

Big hugs to my fellow migraine sufferers. So many of us this week. Hope you all feel better soon xxx

Lynda, hope you have a brilliant time at AP, Big hugs from Billy & myself xxx

Early one for me today as I'm being taken to pick my new specs up. We're going out to eat tomorrow with my dad, stepmum & sisters and I'm pretty tired now so I'm going to rest tonight. If I'm NOT back before I go out it's just because I'm resting so don't worry bout me. Going to pop Billy out for a garden visit and get an hour's sleep now. Think it's the dire weather! It's so dark and dreary

Too all my other very special blog friends, I'll talk to you more when I'm back next. All of you take care & have a lovely, crafty weekend.

  116. I took the tie to watch the video and am giddy with excitement!! Can't wait to give this a go! The finished result reminds me ever so much of a beautiful sunset! All that is missing is an icy element for the tall glass of iced beverage I would drink while watching the sun set! TFS!

  125. Hi Sue

I loved all your demos today at Allypally. They were all so good. I kept coming back and back again! I learned lots of things from you as well as all the great tips you added in. Your array of cards is just amazing! Good luck with your new launches this week. I don't think I can get anything as I spent it all today! Hope you have a super day tomorrow and it knocks the socks off the others!!! Hee hee.

I think today's card is one of my FAVS as well. It is just superb. I love the way you used the gliding wax and flakes are used against the dark background. I also like it because I think you could use if for a guy as well.

I have been trying to get to Allypally for 3 years especially to see you dem live..it was so worth the long drive as you are even better than on the telly and you are so great.

    All the best

  131. Hi Sue, this card is stunning! Although not my personal taste (a bit too much black for me lol) I really admire it and the technique as demonstrated by your good self. I may try something similar using lighter colours; it won't be so dramatic but hopefully will still look good.

Your live hour from AP was great and it was good to see all the happy faces in the audience, shame they didn't have name boards so we could put faces to comments : -).

IReneM and Lynne L - Creative Expressions have a blending solution that will soften your gilding waxes.

No doubt next time I see her she will be giving me step by step instructions on how to do all the things.😀 Have a good day tomorrow.

  139. Fabulous! The colours are so rich and warm. Your blending is beautiful card Sue. I love gilding and am working on water colour and gilding wax they work so well together. Have a great weekend Sue.

  140. Such an opulent card. Lovely to see the gilding wax and gilding flakes together on one card. Not a fan of black so I'm wondering if this would work with some dark brown card.
My early pots of gilding wax dried up but I bought the blending solution that Frances mentioned and it works like magic.
Enjoyed watching the 11 a.m. show on Hochanda catch-up. Lovely to see all those happy, smiling faces in the audience. Wish I'd been able to be there.
    Take care everyone.
