Happy Anniversary

Hi bloggers!  It has been awhile since I did an all cream (or rather milk card) coloured card.  I used the Ornate Octagon Striplet to create a background.  I cut it three times using just the decorative insert die and leaving a small gap between each of them.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension over another piece of milk card for a tonal effect.  For the focal element, I cut the Ornate Frame Brighter days in milk and backed it with milk card, gluing them together before using the centre circle die to cut it into a frame.  I added mounting foam to the back, then stamped my sentiment (from a Phill Martin set), placed a sticky sheet over it and glittered it with Diamond Snow, before adding the frame over it.  I glued it into the centre of the background. I completed the card with a milk card pierced mat layer, then added a thin milk mat with a glittered edge and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are
8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  35. Such a classy card, Sue, always like tone-on-tone. For some reason when I logged in yesterday p.m., up came a couple of cards from 5/1/2010, so weird - can't believe how much cardmaking has changed since then - and there were only (was 1t?) 24 or 42 comments. Odd thing - it was my late Mum's birthday date too, and had been thinking about her a lot recently.
Hugs to all, have a good week.

  80. Good morning to the lovely Sue and the merry band of Wilsonettes.
Oh Sue this is a beautiful card that could be for a wedding, a special someone in your life or numerous other occasions. I love when you do tone on tone cards as they always look so delicate to me, but so stunning and never fighting to let one bit be sceen over the rest of the card. It gently lets you cast your eyes over it noticing another wee bit that you didn't see before and lets you find another hidden treasure that you don't see at first glance. Thank you flower for such a stunning treasure piece that anyone should be so very glad to receive and display it upon their wall. I hope you are having a beautiful day wherever you are today like it is up here at Glenochil. The hills are alive with the varying shades of colour and dancing clouds pitter pattering their way across the sky. Oh how i love days like this when the countryside seems so peaceful and undisturbed or it was until the men started taking my roof apart to put on a new one, lol. I am on coffee waller duty today and tomorrow so it is hopefully going to be a good few days for the new roofs to go on (my next door neighbour wants his done at the same time). Today i am taking it easy to catch up on yesterdays overload of work as the body is having quite a few moans and groans to itself so i will be kind to it today. sending hugs to Tracey, Wheelybad, P in Wales and all the Wilsonettes that could do with them i hope that you have a lovely day if you can.

  128. Good evening lovely Sue and her gorgeous Wilsonettes!

This is a true classic, I love your tone on tone cards they are just so elegant, opulent and sophisticated. The striplet backgrounds of late are fast becoming a favourite of mine, this particular one is no exception with its intricate detailing. The focal element compliments the background perfectly, another couple of dies missing in my arsenal then, I'll have to remedy that discrepancy quick smart!
We were treated to another gloriously sunny day in Stirling and once I got over the initial shock I contemplated taking Brodie on his first afternoon walk of the year....he sat at the front door, big green eyes imploring me to give in but whilst it may have looked like spring the temperature told me otherwise and I don't have a fur coat at my disposal:-).....then I decided that the wooden floors needed a good Hoover instead....fur balls were appearing like tumbleweed across the floors which is a timely reminder that it's time to get my Dyson out of mothballs:-) So no walk and no crafting and neither I nor Brodie was happy:-(
Still no word on my Dads funeral, it's become a logistic nightmare because he lived in Liverpool but wanted cremated and buried in the family plot in Kilmarnock. To transport a body across counties and into another country is not easy and takes time- my stepmother is organising it all in Liverpool with the help of my sister but they are under a lot of stress. It will be a relief to finally put him to rest but the reality of his death is only starting to sink in and those waves that Steph so cleverly describes can be overwhelming at times.
I have never done a sympathy card and find the prospect rather daunting. Sue has done some beautiful ones in the past, I remember one that reminded me of a sunset but I wouldn't know where to begin- what colours would be appropriate, do you keep the design simple and should you omit embellishments such as flowers or foliage and pearls? Any ideas ladies would be gratefully recieved......xxxx
Alison, how is Scamp coping with her situation, is she moving about easier? Have you ever seen Supervet? It's a fabulous programme, the vet is a miracle worker on animals with severe and life threatening deformities and disabilities....he's Irish, lovely and single!!??! If only I lived in Southern England......:-) Hugs to you and Scampxxxx
A lot of our regulars are missing at the moment so special hugs and hope you are all ok to Yvonne, Beth, deb c, Rebecca, Lorraine, Maria,Melody, Tracy and lindaxxxx
Cuddles to Pam, P, Saba, Theresa, Jan and anyone who'd like one tooxxxx

Re your card - have sadly had to do several sympathy cards lately and find that Sue's lattice window striplet is perfect. Just try a matted background, one of the striplets totally cut and backed with gilding flakes, raised for dimension and placed towards the left side, then a small leafy floral embellishment at the bottom of the 'window' placed towards the centre of the card (cream card with burgundy window and mulled wine flakes look lovely)- then you have the right hand side to stamp a sentiment, or leave blank. Not overly religious, it's a peaceful calming image suitable for anybody, male or female depending on colours used and relatively quick and easy to do. You can even get ideas for insert sentiments online, just type in 'words for sympathy cards' and take your pick. Don't know if this helps - but really love that die!!
Don't let Brodie help, though. My Hugo is always keen but not such a gifted crafter!

  136. P,
Thankyou so much for responding to my plea, it's so kind of you to take the time.
The card that you describe sounds perfect, I don't have the elements but they would be easy for me to get hold of because I still have plenty of time to complete it. Brodie and gilding flakes, now that sounds like a recipe for disaster:-) I'd spend weeks getting that out of his coat and besides I don't much fancy hoovering again so quickly. Are you sure that Hugo doesn't have an aptitude for crafting? You'd be surprised how keen they become after their first completed card:-) Brodie particularly loves working with his smoothie and trying to form flowers in the style of Sue. His favourite die is that little spiral one from the finishing touches collection. He likes nothing more than getting a new die and he doesn't even mind sharing....as long as I store them properly on their magnetic sheets:-)
Go on, give Hugo a go!
