Hello crafters! Another Wednesday
giveaway day has rolled around! Today's card mainly uses the Emma die as both the background and the focal element. I started with a piece of coconut white card and used the two decorative dies from the Emma die without the cutting edges. I cut it twice into the background. I added aqua card to the centres behind the smaller decorative cut out area, then I backed the entire piece with black card, giving it two colourways to the background. I matted the piece with both black and aqua card. I cut the Emma die again in both aqua and black card, but used the outer cutting edges. I offset the black one behind the aqua and glued them together. I used the inner rectangle to cut them into a frame, then added mounting foam to the back to raise the frame. I stamped my sentiment, then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and glittered it with Diamond Sprinkles. I glued the frame over the top and trimmed away the excess card. I mounted it in the centre of the background using foam. I cut several of the Open Petal Orange Blossoms in white and created three flowers which I added to the frame as accents. I completed the card with a white pierced mat, an aqua and black mat and another white mat. The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x 8 3/4" in size. If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this card, just leave me a comment. The winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x

Norah, glad your Silver Wedding Anniversary went off okay, he did alright didn't he.
For those of you who followed my American nephew Robbies progress after his terrible accident, this remarkable young man has just started college. He is living on campus, refuses to use his wheelchair, has a mobility scooter for getting around the campus and walking with his crutches or walking sticks. He has come such a long way and we are so very proud of him.. He also plans to return to his Summer vacation job as a counsellor at the children's camp to help children who are ill or disabled.
Morning Sue.

Good morning Sue and the wonderful Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card Sue and with putting the third die cut across the seam of the bottom two and gives it an entirely different look making you think that the die has a big brother to make the background. The touch of black just adds that pop of colour (although black is not an actual colour) and makes the aqua spring out at you. Lovely Sue, just lovely thank you for a beautiful give away card.
Pam flower oh how i can understand how proud you are of Robbie and how he has come on. A miraculous young man with so much determination and spirit, you have every reason to be proud of your young nephew. When Robbie had is accident it broke my heart for you and his parents that such an awful thing could happen to such a lively, spirited laddie but what a laddie he has become. i'm going to shout "WELL DONE ROBBIE, YOU ARE A MIRACLE OF A YOUNG MAN AND WE ARE ALL SO VERY PROUD OF YOU". Thank you Pam for letting us know just how much his journey has changed for the better and you have every right to be so proud of your wee nephew.
Awh Rosemarie just like it to play up on one of the coldest days of the year, it couldn't have done it on one of the milder ones, no it had to wait until it was bitterly cold so that your teeth are chattering together. I hope you get it fixed soon flower as it's no funny having a freezing cold house in temperatures like this.
Well girls my special tea last night was a slice of toast as Campbell was feeling sick from having chicken fried rice at his work, so i made Rory pizza and chips as his carer didn't come for him as they were running short. One of the carer's at Crossroads had been involved in a smash where her car is a total rightoff and some went down with this bug that is doing the rounds. They phoned me 45 minutes after the carer that was coming for Rory hadn't turned up and being honest i was getting more and more worried about him as he is usually always before time he is that punctual. Anyway they called to say what had happened and i told them just to leave Rory as he will be fine, that they will need the carer for some of the other folk that really need their help making their dinner or getting them sorted so it was no big deal as long as the carer was ok, i couldn't care less if Rory didn't get a visit as there is an awful lot of people that need them more than my son. So hence my doorstep piece of toast but my earrings turned out to be white gold with tiny diamonds in them so i have them in now and just hope i don't lose one. Anyone else found that the backings on new earrings don't seem to stay put or is it just me? What i did receive last night that made me cry was a bouquet of roses, gerbera's and lilies from 3 very special friends that i am so very lucky to have met and who i am looking forward to meeting up with them again soon. So yes i do consider myself to be very lucky indeed yesterday.
Sending special hugs to Tracey, i hope you are not too ill with your new round of chemo flower, to Barbara who is in my thoughts and prayers along with her lovely family that are all trying to rally around each other from Val's passing, sending special hugs to you dear friend try and take it easy. I have hugs for all others that need them as they are down or just could do with a hug,
Love and crafty hugs

Hi, Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love the font of the sentiment on this card, very classy. The diamond sprinkles are always a winner on any card.
This is a beautiful car and whoever is lucky enough to win it will be thrilled when it arrives :)
It's a lovely sunny morning here in Truro...but there's no way I'm setting foot outside as it's cold enough for my heating to have come on earlier (and it was only set on 10c!), so it looks like I'm just going to have to spend the rest of the day in my craft room lol.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful card. I haven't got Emma but want it (like all the others I want). We're having a bit of a blue week this week aren't we? I have no objections whatsoever to blue - one of my favourites. The orange blossom dies are adorable. I played with them the other day and have a substantial collection of complete and open petals in varying colours. Now I just need to make some cards. I have a friend coming round on Friday and she is a fellow crafter who I have not seen for ages so we are hoping to have a bit of a session - fingers crossed.
Soon be February and you did say you would be back on Hochanda in Feb - when will that be - the beginning I hope x
Bit of an early post today. AAS (Apprentice Appreciation Society) meeting at mine this evening for our weekly gathering. Yes I know Apprentice is not on at the moment but changing the name of our friendly little group to suit the current tv programme is too confusing. Fun and food is on the menu - again - well I am not going to turn down a suggestion of the girls bringing supper round - that would be silly wouldn't it??
NORAH - Happy Anniversay for yesterday - 25 years - fabulous x
MURIEL - how is your desk? That is the kind of thing that excites me - it will make life so much easier x
PAM - wonderful news about Robbie x
CLARE W - well done you - 6 cards - brilliant x
MARIA - hope you are ok - lots of love x
LAINE, LINDA and LORRAINE - will be checking out your pics on facebook very soon so if there is anything you don't want me to see you have a little time to destroy the evidence x
Got a few things to be getting on with before the wild partying this evening so will love you and leave you.
Take care everyone.

Hi Sue, what a very imaginative way to use a die like this. I must have a look through my crafty stash to see if I have any other dies that would produce this sort of effect (I have already purchased too many dies this month)
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
So pretty! Love the sparkle and how you did this!
ReplyDeleteI really like your color choices in this card and including the color black really makes the soft blue standvout. I love the Emma die and Emma happens to be my only granddaughter's name! I love how you created your focal point. So much inspiration that is much appreciated.

Tracy - glad it all wasn't so bad and hope it continues that way. Sleep is a wonderful thing - just make the most if it.
ReplyDeleteNorah - got wished Happy Anniversary this morning (many more years than you) but it's not until tomorrow. Gotta laugh! Just thankful he is still here - literally, after a bad brush with cancer - and also because he puts up with all my furry ones and a messy craft room, a miracle in itself ha! Don't do cards and pressies, just have a joint treat of some sort once on a while. Feel one coming on!

You make it look so simple Sue, but when I try, not so.....it is such a pretty card....love it...luv Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I just like the chosen colours and what a lovely idea to use the smaller die horizontally. A good one to remember (if I can?). Since march 2015 I discovered the world of making card with die-cutting machined and I am loving it. Such a wundrfull hobby! It is a joy to watch you making the cards and let it look very easy ;). Is it possible to mention the measures also in cm? Thanks so much, Piety, from Purmerend, the Netherlands

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!
ReplyDeleteThe Wednesday weekly giveaway is always a show stopper and today is no exception. I love this particular die and the colour combination is stunning with the shadow effect, very cleverly adding dimension. Who wouldn't want to be the proud recipient?
The rain is back with avengance and has brought the mist with it as an added bonus- I would rather have stayed in the warmth of my lounge or craftroom in my pjs but I had arranged to meet a couple of friends for coffee/beverage at Dobbies. Anyone who knows me realises that a trip for just a coffee is highly unlikely, particularly with a Lakeland and Deli attached to the main building. I returned home with a bag of 'essentials' that included a miniature frying pan, three pairs of rubber gloves, an egg poacher, e cloth, two sausage rolls and a slab of cheesecake to name a few...I managed to control myself around the Yankee Candles, they were half price!??!, but the damage was done. Note to self...leave credit card at home when you meet for coffee in future!
Claire, I'm super impressed, six cards is indeed industrious, in fact I am bowing my head in shame in the knowledge that I haven't even made one since early December. You are indeed Sues star pupil of the day, bask in her reflected glory:-)
Pam, I don't know the story behind Robbie's struggle but I get the sense that it has been met with courage and fortitude and that it is a wonderful achievement for him to be rebuilding his life in such a positive way. I wish him all the luck in the world, you must be so proud of himxxx
Tracy, you're such a trouper, I bet that even if you were struggling you would put a positive spin on it, such is your character. Sleep is the best medicine as they so wisely say, your body must need it honey, take carexxx
Yvonne, what a social life, I'm slightly jealous:-) How do you do it, manage to invite people over AND get them to bring the food?!!?Ingenious! Hope you have a great time, you deserve a bit of a pick me up.
You'll find no even mildly offensive pictures on my Facebook since I've only just realised how to upload them- besides, now that I'm in my dotage I tend to avoid cameras like the plague unless I can be assured that there will be a soft focus lens ,minimum, involved:-) my babies are much more photogenic. I'll have to have a nosy at yours too my dear, have you got anything to hide or is there just pictures of your handsome boys?
Beth, Rebecca- missing you both loadsxxx
Maria, there are pictures of Darcey and Brodie on my Facebook page if you fancy a nosey. Hope you are well sweetiexx
Theresa, wow, you've been a busy bee! Did you pick up any bargains with your daughter?
