Hi bloggers! An aqua and white creation for today's card. I started by embossing a piece of aqua card using the Sparkle Squares embossing folder. Next I cut the Canadian Background out of coconut white card and cut it into six smaller squares using a paper cutter. I added mounting foam to the backs of each and added a small piece of aqua card behind each individual square. I added all of the squares onto a larger piece of white card and spaced them apart equally.then added the piece to the aqua background. I cut the Montreal die in white and backed it in aqua, then cut the centre out of it creating a frame. I stamped my sentiment and cut it with the Pierced Flags die and added it across the frame. I made a flower out of the Perfect Peony die, inked the edges with Aqua ink and sugared it with Iced Snow before adding it to the end of the flag strip. I seated the flower on some pastel Bakers Twine and added Maidenhair fern pieces as accents. The card was then completed with my usual pierced matting and layering. The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue, Love the card. The aqua is very refreshing on this winter morning in North Carolina. Thank you for sharing your love for card making. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGood morning sue and the wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful card Sue and could make a lovely one for the men in our lifes as well as our female friends and relations. I bought this aqua card as i think it is a beautiful shade and made a couple of different cards up with it, both entirely different and one looks darker than the other which is impossible as i used the same card but isn't it amazing how just how you make a card differently it can take on an entirely different appearance. I love how you have accented the middle of the squares with a little pearl, as it just lifts the card to something special. Thank you Sue for another fabulous work of art you have created for us and the inspiration that goes with it.
Well i am hoping to make an anniversary card for hubby today as it is our silver tomorrow and i am laying bets on that he has forgotten all about it as just being another day, but i'll try.
We have some snow from yesterday but the rain has been and taken most of it away so it just remains on my lovely hills where it should stay and look pretty. So i will leave you all now and send hugs to our special friends that really need them the now to get through each day and to all other friends that could just be doing with that someone thinking of them, take care
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil Village)
Really love this card Sue. I like the way you have cut up the background die.
ReplyDeleteLovely card, the embossing folder and the Canadian background go so well together, x
ReplyDeleteA magnificent card again Sue, I must get this Canadian background die, it appears to be so versatile....thank you for sharing....luv Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteHello Sue.
ReplyDeleteLovely Card, great colour. What a great idea to mosaic and back the Canadian Background die, it will be great for male cards. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Liked the idea of cutting up the background die like this.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty. Love the colors you used, too. Jan D., Florida, USA
ReplyDeleteSue, I am very happy with today's colour scheme. I have a feeling you are trying to persuade us to buy the Canadian background if we don't already have it :) I love everything about today's card and I am sure it will not be as divisive as yesterday's. I have aqua card on it's way along with teal, coconut, cobalt and periwinkle so will be very happy when that arrives.
ReplyDeleteTracy, good luck with the new chemo. I hope it's doing it's job.
Laine like you and Yvonne I used to be an avid reader but since being on this latest regimen of drugs I hardly read at all. I miss it but it just sends me to sleep.
Yvonne, I agree with you about the shows. Is it me or was it an excuse to shift old stock? I thought John's shows with Sue's dies were the best though. I didn't feel the need to buy anything anyway as I have so much. I might get tempted when I see Sue demoing her new ones. But I might get some storage instead.
I finally crafted yesterday and as planned I made the four striplet frame. I used the butterfly one and dabbled with my new colour clouds. Unfortunately I am not keen on all the colours I have but it did look good. Got some other ideas too. I created a lot of mess too, I wish I could be tidier.
It's very strange having hubby home but he has some holidays to use up so will be having some long weekends.
I have started my diet again and to ease me in I am cutting back rather than counting calories. If no weight is lost next Monday then it will have to be counting instead. I only put on a couple of pounds so did not undo all my work.
Happy crafting.
Wishing good things to all xxx
What a lovely card to brighten up this wet cold Monday morning. My favourite background die again. For me you can use it as many times as you like.

Hi Sue, A beautiful combination of colours and die.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Patricia xx
Hi Sue.Absolutely stunning.Love every thing about this card. Have a great day. Hugs. Jan. xx
ReplyDeleteAfternoon dearest friend. So, 'Blue Monday' where do they get these named day from ? Has some graduate decided to do research on the amount of people that are having a 'down day'on this particular date each year more than any other day of the year ?
ReplyDeleteWell this shade of blue is one of my favourite shades of blue, it's helps give that touch of delicacy it's gorgeous. I've decided to make a book of my dies - scrapbook type of thing as I feel that as my lack of creativity and not being able to mix and match or think 'out of the box' I'm not putting what dies I have to the maximum use, and I know that you design your collections with that in mind. So maybe I should just sit with rough cuts in front of me and play ( when I feel more like playing) I've got the scrap card all I need is the book plus enthusiasm !!
Well, thank you for showing us your beautiful work today I must say that the EF used on your background embosse's so deeply it's stunning and very delicate.
Sending my usual hugs.
Lancashire Steph xxx
What to say but beautiful...the color is so refreshing and Spring like...

ReplyDeleteHi Sue such a pretty colour and one of my favourite dies. A winning combination! Love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteHello sue, thank you for today's offering, it is truly lovely. I really want that background die. I keep saying it so I must stop procrastinating and do something about it!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous card, it lifts an otherwise grey and wet Monday right up into the realm of loveliness.
Hugs, Rose
Just lovely! That is a divine color!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card for a less than great day! It's getting so dark in my lounge-room that I'm thinking of turning on the lights!! I love the way you've cut the die-cut into six pieces to give the card a completely different look, it's simple but very, very effective. I think I need to start a note-book of all your wonderful hints and tips, Sue :)
Bejay x
The Canadian background is such a useful die. Love these colours
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!
ReplyDeleteIt has been such a treat lately, the return of the Canadian background has really cheered my Monday blues, even your choice of colour cannot dampen my enthusiasm:-) that particular shade of blue is so cheering and uplifting particularly given the unwelcome return of the sleet/rain and the gloomy skies. It has to be said that I'm not very good at thinking out of the box and as such would never have created a background like today's beauty- cutting up an already perfect design would not have occurred to me but it has worked a charm, thanks for helping us to challenge our self imposed boundaries Sue. This is a new and refreshing way to use a die that I love and I will most definitely be brazenly copying it sometime soon. Nobody does sugared flowers quite as expertly as you, I insist on adding them anywhere possible to my own cards..and if I can throw in a stick pin or two and a bit of tuille then all the good:-)
I really missed you this weekend Sue, but we have your new launch to distract us from our melancholy until your next batch of shows next month:-)
Talking about melancholy, the rain is back and the beautiful snow is disappearing, ahh, it was nice while it lasted but my mood has dropped as the temperature rose though- strange how our emotions are inextricably attached to the weather!
It could be because I'm sleep deprived, I tried to get an earlyish night last night but Darcey was having none of it, she cried and scratched for 90mins as I was trying to drop off:-( I'm not very good at being stern so I got up about six times to fuss over her and settle her but to no avail, eventually I lost patience and told her to go to bed as firmly as I could muster- she appeared to be chastised then after five or ten minutes scratched again so I ignored her and pretended to be asleep and thankfully, for me, it worked. I do feel the worse for wear today though and missed an early dental appointment when I couldn't get out of bed, terrible I know but me and early mornings aren't compatible and strangely Darcey always seems to know when I have to be up early...
Yvonne, I'm glad I'm not the only one a tad disappointed with the dies over the weekend, Nevermind , it saves some money for the main event when Sue returns with her new range:-) I did feel a bit ungrateful and disloyal though....
Your right, it's awful when you are an avid reader to have that pleasure spoiled through ill health and lack of concentration- it was suggested that I listen to audio books but I don't think it would compare to getting completely immersed in a novel, maybe I'm wrong though?
I can be a bit nosey on Facebook too but don't feel my life is exciting enough to share with the wider world and a constant stream of selfies is in advisable at my age without a serious amount of doctoring applied:-) Feel free to abuse me in private though honey, my contact details are up to date and I am at your beck and call morning noon and night:-)
Hope you enjoyed your family roast dinner, did MIL behave with tact and decorum...or did she take your lead?xxx
Linda, what a coincidence, the book I'm reading is the same one you mention by Lorna Byrne!??! I find the subject intriguing and choose to believe in the possibility that it is true because it gives you a sense of peace, comfort and reassurance.
I will try my best to upload some pictures of my babies onto Facebook but I'm rubbish with things like that and may need a helping hand from my brother when I next see him, how humiliating!
Think I might have overstayed my welcome again so I'll just send my hugs to all my blog buddies and any Wilsonettes in need of a cuddlexxx
Good luck with your appointment tomorrow Tracyxx
Steph, great idea about the scrapbook, may give it a tryxxx

ReplyDeleteWow, so pretty. The Canadian background is such a great design and aqua is lovely. Just a lovely card all round.
Norah, I hope hubby does remember, 25 years is quite a milestone! Hugs xxx
Steph, these 'researchers'... agreed! Down here we'd say it's "loada ol' squit!" I think it's a sentiment that sums it up nicely! Hope you feel up to being at your crafty table soon, hugs xxx
Tracy, hugs xxx
Molly, hugs to all your family xxx
I did watch some shows at the weekend and treated myself to some stamps. Would have loved some of the MDF stuff but just have no space for it. Living in a home where you can't put anything up on the walls can be a real bind (the internal walls won't take the weight of shelving). About to make a quick and very late light luch then I'm going to try and do a little crochet, first creative activity in ???. Also going to ramp the heating up as it's getting very cold here!
Sending hugs and smiles to everyone, have plenty extra hugs if they're needed,
T x
Hi Sue, Just Beautiful should be the title of this card. I love it, of course I do, with my favourite background and the lovely teal card. Definitely one for the folder. I even get a 'twofer' as the last picture is showing as a lovely pale apple green just to give me more ideas :-)
ReplyDeleteTracy - Good Luck tomorrow and I will be thinking of you, I hope this round is easier than the last.

Hi Sue stunning card, love the colour combo too.xx
ReplyDeleteVery nice :)
ReplyDeleteEvening Sue
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as ever. Such a lovely cheery colour. Need to get the Canadian background but then I feel like that about all your dies. When will you be back on Hochanda - we miss you x
Ended up accompanying my MIL to the bank to help her sort out a few problems. Exhausting when you get some completely incompetent idiot who is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. What should have been an incredibly simple and straight forward meeting lasted over an hour. Anyway - all sorted but being intelligent is hard work x
TRACY - hope all goes well tomorrow - be thinking of you - lots of love x
LAINE - Rolling out of bed in the morning is hard enough but when your sleep has been disturbed it's nigh on impossible. Someone suggested Audio books to me. Jake gave me an Amazon Fire Tablet for Christmas and you can get a free months trial to download some. Am debating whether or not to give it a go when we go to the Isle of Wight in March - if I don't like it, it hasn't cost anything. What a coincidence that you and Linda are reading the same book.
I have already sent you a message. Sent it on Saturday after I had sent your friend request. Check it out x
LORRAINE - there is absolutely no doubt that I will be tempted when Sue is back on Hoch x
JANE - so glad I was not the only one who thought the MDF smudging incident was amusing x
Early night for me as the aftermath of dealing with stupid people has taken its toll on me.
Lots of love to everyone
Crafty hugs

ReplyDeleteHi Sue and everyone.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Sue and I love the colour here. Great when
you show us by cutting the die up so we get to see all
different ways to use them. Thank you.
Molly- sorry must have missed you somehow. Good to see
you back. Sad to hear you all having such a tough time
with illness and now no where to live. Hope it's all
works out for you in the end, hugs.
Lorraine- think you will have a word with miss Darcey and
let you sleep at night. Hope she let you tonight or we want
know how you will be tomorrow, x
Take care Yvonne, hope you are ok x
Wheelybad- look after yourself and hugs to Billy x
ToB- hope you are now alright after your op and can do some
light crafting x
Fingers crossed Tracy, for your next chemo. goes well
My thoughts are with everyone who are having a tough time lately,
special ones to Saba, Wendy, Sheila....
To all Wilsonette's and my lovely friends, keep warm

Hi sue
ReplyDeleteLoving ur card today. Love the colour combo today. It's beautiful.
Been to a look good feel better class that was on in Glasgow for cancer patients. They show you how to apply make up etc from a goody bag that's given to u. I don't wear much so was nice to see myself fully made up lol
Omg I was so impressed I don't wear a lot of make up but this bag had at least £150 of products ranging from no7 from boots to Clinique, YSL , loreal , Estée Lauder, clarins Liz earl etc. ranging from make up to cleansers and moisturiser. I had 18 products in my bag all full size.
Chemo tomorrow so not looking forward to a crapoy week but goody bag makes up for it!!
Love and hugs to all xx

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWow!! Love this card, Beautiful colour.
Lorraine so glad you were able to craft well done you and good luck with your diet. I'm trying to lose some weight by cutting down don't think I could diet though.
Laine I know this sounds weird but I had a feeling that it was the book you were reading, it's been about a good few years since I read that book and she's also written others now but I just knew you were reading "Angels in my Hair" that's why I mentioned it. OMG!! I think I'm psychic haha!!
Tracy good luck with your treatment tomorrow x
