Embossed Wax Paper Resist

Hi crafters!  Embossing wax paper then using it to create a resist is a fabulous way to create a unique background.  I show you how to take this technique a step further in today's video.

The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  21. Hi Sue,
Great background on this card. Great technique on the video!
I'm working on birthday cards for family and I managed to teach my eldest grand daughter some techniques to use in her Uni project - and she passed!
She enjoyed learning and I enjoyed teaching her. I must get back to passing on my knowledge in classes but my job keeps me so busy - 12 hour days and a lot of driving.
When the weekend comes I'm so ready for it but I want to keep up with my crafts.
I know how you feel Maggie - my turn for the grandkids this weekend and a full week would be so tiring.

  68. Good morning lovely Sue and the our Wilsonettes,
This is a beautiful card with the black used to enhance the sentiment and pop the blue and white back ground. I love how you have made the solid white frame and made it pretty with your configurations die that you have used. I will go and watch the video after dropping my boy off at college and seen to the surveyors that are coming out to survey Mum's house. I got in yesterday some of that lovely card stock you use namely in wisteria, iris and the pretty aqua that looked so pretty in your card that i watched the other day. I also bought 4 of the mini smoothies in the hope that they are a better size for my hand to grip as the big ones just hold my hand at the wrong bit and somebody called Arthur Ritis pays me an unwelcomed visit. I can't wait to get playing with my new lovely things.
Well up here at my lovely Ochils we have beautiful snow on them and as long as it stays there it can look as stunning as it likes, lol. WE also have an unusual phenomena i think it used to be called Sunlight back through the ages and i think that's where it has stayed so it is lovely to have some sunshine although a tad cold. The surveryor for the bairns that are buying Mum's house has just been out so hopefully that will be all that is needed now. The house need's to have some happiness again just like we had as a family in it and hopefully before too long it will have some little baby cries coming out of it, :)
Sending hugs to all of my Wilsonette friends that really need them at the moment and my prayers and thoughts go with them. Hugs to all others that just could do with someone thinking of them,
    love and crafty hugs

Great Video, gorgeous card. I remember you demonstrating one like this on Hochanda and you used the Sea Garden embossing folder which I fell in love with but don't seem to be able to get hold of. Does anyone know if it is available somewhere that mails to Australia?
I had the same light bulb moment while making the messy bow with that video Debra, but they are such a handy and easy bow to make, I use them a lot. Glad it helped.

  78. Morning, Sue,
What a cool technique!! Finally I've found a use for my new iron! I bought it about two years ago after my old one fell from the top of the fridge/freezer, hitting me on the head on the way to its death on the kitchen floor. I tend to use my dryer on anti-crease and fold my laundry so that it doesn't need to be ironed, so I'm really thrilled that I didn't completely waste my money buying a replacement iron lol.
We had some sunshine yesterday morning down here in Truro...I wish we hadn't though as I did something really stupid...I went out to the back garden and dug up two apple trees and replanted them in a different part of the garden. So now my already trashed back has given notice to quit and I'm not able to do much more than sit with my laptop today. At least I got them replanted before the heavens opened in the afternoon. The sun is shining again right now but there's no way I can get anything else done outside today. Perhaps I can drag myself into the craft room and see if there's anything I can do in there instead lol.
Hugs to everyone who could use them.

Also saw your new releases and looking forward to your take on them, lots to lust after but still haven't caught up with the first release lol.
Molly - can't believe your family could have the bad fortune to have so many problems, so hoping your nan is soon better and back with grandad and also that you have a new house before too long. What a lot of worry. Keep smiling and crafting!

  97. Afternoon Sue
Have not watched the video yet but loving the look of this card. Got a few of your videos to catch up on but have tried to have a catch up on comments today.
I do love a new technique and you always inspire me to try anything you demonstrate so brilliantly. My intensions are always there to immediately run to my craft room and throw myself whole heartedly into creating masterpieces that will slightly resemble a Sue Wilson original. Sadly my intentions are always sincere but rarely
    fulfilled x
I have slightly overdosed on Particraft today. Nothing else achieved, which was intentional but with more than a weeks worth of missed posts it is quite a feat to achieve in one sitting.
I managed to open the pile of post which had accumulated and had completely forgotten about the orange blossom bundle which I ordered from Hochanda when Sue last graced our screens. Oh joy. I am a happy bunny even if I am unable to put them to good use as yet - I will have to satisfy myself by stroking them and imagining what I will lovingly create when the time is right.
My New Years resolution of tidying and keeping my craft room tidy has not yet been realised but I am still very enthusiastic about this at present. Watch this space x
LORRAINE - in my absence I missed your Birthday - belated happy wishes and huggles!! Sounds like you were suitably spoilt - rightly so x
TXCOWGIRL - my thoughts and prayers are with you x
LAINE - be a good girl and stay out of the bath. Surely it's worth staying smelly to make sure you don't get another infection. Hope you are feeling well. You seem to have been getting your priorities wrong whilst I have not been around to keep an eye on you. With mention of jackets and sequinned cardigans from LK Bennett (as oppose to Primark), and then a mention of not owning any of the dies from the last release I would like to question your dedication and ability to prioritise. Having seen the upcoming release I am a little worried that you will become completely overwhelmed by desire and then we will find ourselves in all sorts of trouble. Sit yourself down and give yourself a serious talking to x
MOLLY - welcome back sweetie - we have missed you - I am so sorry to hear about everything that has been going on. You take care and lots of love to you and your family x
ELIZABETH LOUISE - welcome to the wonderful world of Wilsonettes x
I am saving my story as to why I have not been about until tomorrow. I will enlighten you (whether you want me to or not) in tomorrows comment. I have a few friends popping over tonight bringing some form of sustenance to assist me in my pledge to avoid any strenuous activity. I think I should just go with the flow if people want to make my life easy - would hate to upset anyone x
    Take care everyone

  112. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Hellooooo! I'm in such a good mood today and seeing your card has only served to make me proper giddy with delerium. Yes, you've guessed it, despite my best intentions I haven't had a chance to watch today's video but I did manage to see you use an iron technique on one of your shows and I wonder if this is similar. It's a beautiful card I love the colour, texture and dimension that you have so cleverly introduced...I think I love you Sue, maybe I haven't said this nearly enough but you are a goddess in the world of crafting and I bow to your superior grasp of such a challenging hobby, you never cease to amaze and surprise me at every turn and I think I love you....did I just say that?:-). Joking aside Sue, you are awesome and I don't care if I am becoming a bit creepy or stalker like, I just thought you should know.
Why am I so happy I ask myself? Could it be that I have won last nights lottery?Nope, could it be that I have just pre ordered Sues entire new release? Sadly no, could it be that George Michael has declared himself straight and proposed to me? Nah, in my dreams, I'm actually happy because it was sunny today and the ground was coated in a fine layer of the white stuff:-) wonders will never cease!
It made doing the ironing bareable.
Yvonne, me old mucker!, welcome back to the land of the living. What is this story you are teasing us with? Be careful that you don't build up the hype only to disappoint- my mind is working overtime wondering what borderline illegal caper you have been getting embroiled in, well considering you are still in one piece...barely, I guess all is good but please put me out of my misery! I did have a bath this morning but only to my waist( the wound is further up my back) so I thought it was a good compromise:-) it's not as sore as the last time, only three paltry stitches so I've got no complaints. I didn't even milk it with my Mum to get out of doing the dishes, I must be losing my touch!
Waited on hand and foot I ask you! I've got a feeling that you are quite used to be a lady of leisure considering your aversion to housework and reluctance to cook a square meal without guilt tripping your well trained sons into taking you out for a meal, now you have your friends roped in as well....maybe I should get some tips from you, my mum definitely needs to pull her weight more:-)xxx
Angela, what a relief that Sooty has picked up again and is eating- many of us can appreciate how heartbreaking it is when our babies get ill, old age comes to us all but can be so cruel, treasure every momentxxxx
Steph, how lovely to hear from you, it's been so long and you have been missed. Hope you are well and can pop back again and againxxxx
Hugs to Tracy, so glad you're still okay, Beth, Lorraine, Linda, Maria, Jan, Rebecca, Saba, Wheely Bad, Theresa and all my blog buddiesxxx
