You Made My Day

Hi bloggers!  From my craft stash, I pulled out some decorative paper with a small black and white pattern to it for the background.  I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I cut six Canadian Borders in white and attached them to the background in three groups with the straight edges to each other.  I filled in the remaining sticky areas with clear micro beads for texture.  I cut a Lattice and Lace Striplet in white and backed it in white and added it to the left side of the card (it is hard to see as I got very flowery!)  I cut the Perfect Peonies out of gloss black card and used the Open petal Peony to add a white edge to each of them.  I scattered them along the striplet with Maidenhair fern pieces as accents.  I stamped a sentiment in black and cut it out on an angle with the Pierced Tag die set, adding a small peony to the tip of it.  I finished the embellishments with a small black feather, then added my usual mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  60. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is quite soft and subtle Sue with the background micro beaded and the Canadian borders on top of the busy pattern. It's amazing how you can calm down a pattern that is either too loud and or busy with the aid of micro beads and a topping over them as it totally changes it from something that you might not like into something quite lovely. The gloss card that you have used for the flowers just adds that statement piece that gives it a WOW effect. Lovely Sue, absolutely lovely.
Well we are not too bad today at -2 degrees as the snow is sitting on the hills looking pretty and staying there thank goodness. Rory came home from college yesterday having made fahita's(excuse the spelling but i have absolutely no idea what they are or how they are spelt) which he says has chili seeds in them to give them more bite, me i will pass not being a person that likes "hot" food and i know that chili's can take the roof of your mouth of and i have enough trouble the now with said mouth without adding to it. I was a clumsy wee lassie and my front tooth became black because of the amount of times it had been stoated off the ground. I got in my adult teeth and as soon as the front were matching i tripped over a wee stone and sheered it in half in a lovely 60degrees angle. Well it would have been lovely if i had been going for the angular look but since i wasn't the dentist put a cap on it after shaping it. After the 12 injections that it took him to numb the mouth the cap stayes on for 8 years until i got it crowned. Well some how in November i managed to split it right up the middle so the tooth and crown had to come out and i was leaving it until after christmas so that any sore mouth wouldn't effect the festivities. Well the dentist that i now go to Gordon is so gentle 2 injections, 1 back, 1 front and the tooth out and this little plate in it's place. I am still waiting on the pain coming from the pulled area as what there is, i have other pains that knock it into a tin can which is brilliant. I am getting blisters where the plate meets the edges of my teeth and i have that Nanny McPhee look about me as the tooth keeps slipping down, all i need to complete the look is a big wart with hair growing out of it as i have the stick, hee hee hee. The only thing i wish is that Gordon had been qualified years earlier when i needed all my teeth sorted after them being smashed to bits by the bullies, as he is such a good dentist that you are left with the least discomfort as possible.
Any way today i am hoping to finish my shawl and get the seam sewed as this baby is here and will be needing it when he comes out of his little incubator. What a surprise he was on New Years day to his Mummy and Daddy but he is better where he is the now until he puts on a wee bit more weight wee scone. I think he will be needing dolly clothes to keep him warm when he comes out as the baby clothes wont fit him for a wee while yet.
I am sending very special hugs to a special lady today, Saba(Barbara) dear friend we are all thinking of you and your family after your sad loss of your beloved sister yesterday. May him upstairs keep her safe and no longer in pain and may he give you and your family the peace and knowledge that you are thought about more than you will know flower.
To Tracey, Wheely Bad and the other wilsonettes going through a rough time the now i am sending you all hugs as well. Tracey i hope that you are not feeling too ill with your treatment flower.
    Love and crafty hugs

ANGELA - hope Sooty is continuing to do well x
NORAH - I found myself cringing and saying a big ouch when I read your tooth tale. You poor thing. Hope everything calms down and is sorted out soon. Hugs x
SABA - I am so very sorry to hear the sad news about your sister. Thinking of you and your family and sending you a warm hug x
LAINE - so pleased you manage to wash bits that needed washing without major upheaval to your war wounds. I have to tell you that being a lady of leisure is marvellous especially when enabled by family and friends. On a serious note I do know that I have got the most wonderful group of friends who have helped me tremendously through so many difficult times. Oh and they feed me - who could ask for anything more?? x
So now I'm going to bore you with the tale of why I was absent for a week and the reason I was struck down by the dreaded fatigue.
The boys and I went out for a lovely meal (paid for by Jake in exchange for my cleaning up his mess in the kitchen)! We were tucking into our curry banquet when I became aware of some people looking and pointing at us from the other side of the restaurant. Having left my glasses at home I couldn't see who it was so asked if the boys knew who it was. The boys had no idea and it wasn't until they got up and came over and to my surprise it was Sarah, a friend who I had not seen for 15 years as she had emigrated to Australia. She had come over to spend Christmas with her mum and dad. We had so much catching up to do and were eventually asked to leave the restaurant at 12.30am as the staff had cleaned up and wanted to lock up. Our intimate little party ended up carrying on back at our house and Sarah, her hubby, her mum and dad and I chatted all night until 7am. So fabulous to see them but my skills of managing to last the whole night long are a thing of the past and at 8am when I eventually made it to bed I ended up staying there or the next 3 days absolutely exhausted. Would it be wrong to say it was worth it - usually my being incapacitated results from over exertion due to housework or stress!
I now have an invite to stay with Sarah and hubby in their 7 bedroomed, 5 bathroomed house with outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor gym. Sounds very much like my house, lol. Now I am having to plan a bank robbery to fund my trip but have decided that it may be easier to persuade the boys to start up an escort business with me as their agent/manager. Couple of good looking lads who I am sure would not be short of offers and I would hope that as their manager my commission would not only cover my flight to Oz but the new collection of Wilson dies. Only a thought - any other suggestion, legal or otherwise, above board or underhanded would be more than welcome.
Sorry I need to split my comment - as usual I have far too much to say x

    ReplyDelete
  79. So there you have it - the first part of my nice little story as to why I have not been about for the last week. I had started to feel a little better by the Thursday evening and was encouraged by the thought of making it out of bed for more than 10 minutes. Little did I know that there was a bit of a situation looming that would render me knackered all over again. Oh yes there's a little bit more to this tale but I will save it til tomorrow.
I do love to tease you Laine - don't worry - no one was hurt - tune in tomorrow for part 2 x
Think I may have a little play with my new orange blossom bundle. I figured if I sit in front of the tv with my craft box and e-bosser I could knock out a pile of lots of different coloured complete petals and lots of white open petals - not to mention coordinating leaves. I am hoping that this will in some way help me to actually construct a few cards as I have quite a few birthdays looming - luckily all female so orange blossoms are perfect x
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and I hope the Hochander Creative Expressions take over will be enjoyed by many of you x

  81. Hi Sue,
WOW!!! I would never have thought of making black peonies. How impressive they are, especially in gloss finish. I'm thinking of giving them a try using Glossy Accents as I don't have black glossy card. I love the striplet background and no, I've still not got any striplet dies :(.
We've had a strange 24 hours weather-wise here in Truro. Yesterday it was sunny one minute and then hosing it down with rain the next. Last night there was a terrific roar of thunder...but only one then it went quiet again. This morning there was brilliant sunshine with a clear blue sky but by the time I walked to the back of the bungalow there was almost a blizzard...of hail stones! Ten minutes later the sun was out again but it's turned pretty cold (for Cornwall anyway lol). The hail is most likely the closest I'll get to seeing snow as it's only snowed once since I moved down here from Hampshire. I miss the snow, as does my dog. She used to love licking the little ice balls that collected on her hairy feet after a trudge through the snow lol. I hope the rest of the day is great for everyone.

  94. Hello Sue
The card today is just gorgeous and what a great idea to create a stunning card featuring a background of border dies.
We had this strange phenomenen here in West Sussex today like a few other followers around the country! It was called Sun and blue sky!!!
Although not much above freezing it has been a beautiful day and whilst out today everyone seemed so much more bright and cheerful than usual!!! At last I have been able to wear my new " Mr Michelin Man" coat made from down and feather! It is so warm and cosy!
    Keep warm, everyone!

  96. Well you've done it again! Another stunning card. If I don't have the exact dies to try to recreate one of your masterpieces, I usually have a look to see if there is something that I can use instead, however, in this case I don't have anything like the Canadian border die so it looks like I may have to make yet another purchase

  98. Hello lovelies,
Sue, yes today's card is another winner. I would have either put more feathers on or not bothered though.
Saba, condolences to you and yours I am so sorry for your loss.
Norah, I hope your teeth will now behave.
Linda N, it is so lovely having that extra contact :)
Yvonne, I am looking forward to the next instalment
I have showered and dressed today, which wiped me out for a while. I was naughty and finished cutting out my new dies before the shower.
I am now pacing myself trying to cook dinner and do some other bits of HW.
I am looking forward to the Hochanda takeover. I am still trying to work out the best way to spend my money. I even had more given to me by my brother so another dilemma.
Love n hugs and wishing good things to all xxx

  107. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

How refreshing to see some micro beads today, I don't use them nearly enough. Today's card also reminds me to use patterned paper again, I used to use it all of the time but not so much anymore, I tend to favour an EF or diamond snow now...I'm ever so slightly influenced by a very talented lady by the name of Sue, what she does I inevitably have to try so out comes the beads and some gloriously patterned paper for a bit of a play:-) love the Canadian borders mixed with the black glossy flowers, bought some glossy card a while back for inking purposes and haven't gotten round to using it yet so I'll need to have a route around my craftroom or use my glossy accents. I'm really enjoying seeing the Canadian set again it has inspired me to get crafting after a bit of a lull.
Yay! Another crisp cold sunny day greeted me this morning, cheering the senses..is it just me or is everyone that bit more cheerful, with a spring in their step now that we are having a break from that miserable rain? I had the joyous task of going out to get my nails done today, first time since Christmas and boy did I need the boost, I was sick of the sight of my black with silver glitter talons and felt like something altogether brighter-I opted for magenta with a sprinkling of angel dust, very hot and sophisticated at the same time:-), just like me! Had a proper bath today so now I'm really ready for action....not too rough mind, I've my stitches to think about:-)
Saba my love, my deepest condolences, so sorry to hear of your loss. I've had a couple lately too and it's never an easy process to experience. Hugs and love winging their way to you lovely ladyxx
Norah, ouch! You've experienced an altogether different kind of loss, painful in its own way too- I visibly cringed reading your story, I'm surprised you don't have a pathological fear of dentists after your experiences, hope you get a winning smile back soonxx
Yvonne, you dirty stop out! Partying the night away at your age is a terrible example to be setting your boys, how could you? Seriously though, what a wonderful coincidence, it's always nice to roll back the years with a good friend- what a shame she lives so far away though:-( It would be so cool to visit Australia, especially since her house sounds positively palatial- you've hit upon a fab idea though, becoming your boys agent and creating an escort agency would be very lucrative, in fact, if I didn't live so far away I would seriously consider hiring their services whatever they may be:-) The fatigue you experienced afterwards was well worth the joy you had meeting old friends again.
You are such a tease though, offering little tidbits of information but never the full juicy details, now I have to wait another 24 hrs to hear what other rampant debauchery you were involved in that rendered you incapable...I'm just jealous coz my life has been so dull since Hogmany:-)
I must be nearing my limit too now so big hugs to my buddies, we'll talk more tomorrow. Off to watch the start of our CE extravaganza, got coke and popcorn on standby.....

    Crafty hugs and love,

    Laine1972xxx

  116. Hi Sue

Just stunning, every part enhances the other. Absolutely Beautiful. I hope CHA was a blast and you're getting in some R n'R. Hugs to you, Mom and your family with kisses from Billy. Looking forward to seeing your new dies in acyion, have some earmarked already!

Please forgive the next part being brief... my fault for not being about.

Molly, I hope you'll be back together as a family soon, hugs to all of you. Please pass on hugs to Nanny and grandad xxx

Tracy, hope you're doing ok, hugs xxx

    Steph, hugs xxx

Val and others unable to craft at present, I understand how frustrating it is, hugs to all of you xxx

Yvonne, lovely that you made contact with an old friend. Sometimes the aftermath is worth it, hugs xxx

Laine, heal well my dear, plan the most pampered, scent infused bathroom session possible for when you're healed. Scented Candles (if safe to do so), scrubs, face mask, favourite smellies, spritz of perfume after, glass of something fizzy, music, good book, (even if it's pop!) And a do not disturb sign on the door! In the meantime, hugs xxx

Lorraine F hope you're less fatigued now than you were last time I checked in, hugs xxx

Norah, ouch! My sympathies x If Rory keeps going he'll be cooking you a dinner soon, just no chillies, ay? Hugs for you and Rory xxx

Lynda, hugs from (an upside down, sofa hogging) Billy and from me xxx

    Saba, hugs xxx

Hugs to each and every one of you all too, I got plenty for everyone and much more besides if you need them xxx

Today I had one of those "where did the last 3 weeks go?" Moments. Quick trip to 'see' John and Julia now. Will watch what I can over the weekend, going to try have a quick peep at the Hochanda website too but been at this 45 minutes so that might be for first thing tomorrow. Shattered!

Wishing for better days to those for who life is dealing them an unfair hand at present and sending smiles to you all. Until next time,

    T x

Gorgeous stunning card & love everything about it.
I really think that monochrome colours make a great statement that looks opulent, clean & fresh without the huge price tag that you may find in the little boutique style shops.
    Love it.....
