Always On My Mind

Hi bloggers!   Today's card was done with milk card  and Cloudy Blue ink for a soft pastel look.  I started by embossing a piece of milk card with the Rambling Blossoms embossing folder.  I cut two Canadian Borders in milk card and glued them to the side edges for a tone on tone look.  Next I cut the Ornate Pierced Noble dies to create a frame.  While still in the die, I inked the frame with Adirondack Cloudy Blue Pigment ink.  Just a little note here, while this is an embossing ink, it can be used without embossing, it just takes a bit longer to dry.  I wanted it to match throughout my card and it is my preferred ink for letterpressing.  I used the Cloudy Blue ink and inked the Rambling Blossoms embossing folder, then letterpressed it on to a piece of milk card.  I added mounting foam to my frame and placed it over the letterpressed background and trimmed away the excess card.  I created a thinner frame using the Ornate Pierced Design Noble and added to my frame with foam for dimension.  I cut the Toronto die in milk and backed it with another piece of milk card for a tonal effect.  I nipped it in half and took a bit out of the centre and taped it back together to create a square shape.  I tuned it in to a diamond orientation added it to the centre of the frame.  I cut the centre of the Montreal die in milk card and cut a backing piece which I inked with cloudy blue ink before gluing them together.  I cut the centre out of them to create a frame and seated the frame over my sentiment.  I cut a few small Peonies in milk and added cream flatback pearls to the centres then added them around my frame as accents.  I completed the card with a pierced milk card mat and another milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  10. Morning Sue. WOW You are spoiling us with these canadian dies, one of my all time favourites. I just think the boarders are perfect for those lacy edges. Love all the different tonal blues you are showing over the past few days. Could see this as a wedding or anniversary card. Love it. Hope everything is going well at CHA and that they are not to long of a day for you. Take care Sue.

  22. Morning Sue,
A lovely card today, I must get some more embossing folders I haven't many at all. They really help the cards pop.
I finally got around to trying the oyster background technique yesterday and the technique using acetate, cosmic laquer mica and tissue paper. They actually look ok. Not bad for a first attempt and having one bottle of liquid pearls explode on my table, note to self make sure the nozzle is not blocked lol. While they were drying I cut all the card for my Nieces wedding invitations, so was quite a busy day yesterday.
Back to babysitting duties today I have our two youngest grandchildren, so it will be a busy day.
Hope you are having a great time at the CHA.

  70. Good morning sue anf the Wilsonettes,
This is a beautiful card again today Sue and thank you for which you use the Ariondac ink as it really is a useful thing to know as i only ever use Versamark and hope that i have a coloured embossing powder that will if not match, will at least tone in with my project. That cloudy blue ink is such a lovely soft blue and you can't see any lighter patches caused by it so that it looks like coloured card. Great idea sue, thank you flower as it gives us that are not so hot on the inks more reasons as to why you one product over another (never can get the difference in the inks to use).
Well all i can say about today up here in Glenochil is that it is dry which is good but it is really nippy out there so please everyone wrap up warmly if you need to go out. I am on the border of a shawl so i am going to get going with that today so i will wish you all a good day whatever you have planned, sending hugs to all our wilsonettes that could be doing with them for whatever reason or just because,
    love and crafty hugs

  73. Hi, Sue,
Another beautifully ornate card to start the week, it's wonderful :). Well, so far today it's dry, calm and the sun is shining down here in Truro...the clouds are forming though so I'm not holding my breath for it to stay nice too much longer. Yesterday it was brilliant sunshine one minute and hosing it down with rain in the blink of an eye! Still, it's a good excuse for me NOT to go out in the back garden and move two apples trees, although I know I need to do it in the next few weeks while they are still 'hibernating'. If my sister hadn't moved to the other side of the country she would have been behind me with a stick getting me out there. My reasoning though is...it's too wet under foot to do too much out there without ending up on my bum! I guess I'll have to heed the call of my craft room instead...what a chore LOL!!
