Staggered Square Checker

Hi crafters!  Happy Boxing Day!  I hope you had a fabulous Christmas!  Today's video is a sweet card that I did showcasing one of the ideas I had for the Corner Squares die set.  I really liked the way this one came out, I hope you do too!

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  11. As ever, Sue, perfect placement of all the elements - such a lovely card and of course the floral embellishment with the pins is just gorgeous. Have a feeling that my wonky positioning rules this one out! Thanks so much for the video.
Your vibrant top coordinates exactly with the flower arrangement, twinned in fact!
cr@fty Heather - hope you had a good day. As to next year, are you insane? - DON'T DO IT! madness lol

Hope you had a fabulous Christmas. I love today's card and the video is showing us how easy it is to achieve similar. Because I couldn't get CE felt I did buy another make and it ended up in the bin it just wouldn't cut. I have made these diagonal flowers in a light card they looked okay but they are so much nicer in felt.
Have a great Boxing Day everyone

  42. Morning Sue on this beautiful Boxing Day.

I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas Day.

The clouds may be dark grey as they scud across the sky, the wind is fairly brisk to send them on their way, but it is so glorious to watch them.

Love today's card, rather like a jigsaw which will keep grandchildren fascinated to make one for themselves.

Today is Milly-May day again, she is coming out later with her Mum & Dad and my eldest Daughter Giorgina when we will enjoy Roast Beef dinner and more presents. Rather apt to have more presents as this is the traditional day everybody used to have their present from their bosses.

Healing thoughts to all in pain, loss and discomfort, I hope your day becomes kinder to you.
    Love & hugs

  45. A gorgeous, delicate card Sue, so pretty. My sister Sandie and her partner Patrick gave me a fantastic Christmas present, lots of lovely things but the best ever was the Platinum. I'm so excited but have disciplined myself not to play with it until my home is clear of debris from yesterday. Well that is the hope anyway. LOL. My children spoiled me with an ipad. It's fantastic, this has to be my best Christmas ever I think. Hope your's was as good. Apart from setting fire to the Christmas pudding while it was still in it's wrapper we had a joyful, happy day. Thank you once again for all your inspiration. Xx

Had a lovely day yesterday with all my family.

Please spare a thought and a prayer for all the families flooded out of their homes in Kendal (just up the road from me) and Carlisle. And for all the people today who have flooding in their areas of the country. Thinking about those in Todmorden(my home town) and Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire too.

  75. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
I really like the colourscheme of this card Sue as it does look so soft and feminine looking but could easily change to make for a man. This is one card that i would need to try yet again with other dies as i don't have one of the dies used to create this beautiful arrangement, but hey that's part of the fun about making things your own, taking the inspiration and turning it around to suit your own needs and wants. Thank you Sue for another stunning piece of inspiration that is so pretty.
I hope that everyone had as lovely a day as they could yesterday as some of our friends are in the middle of such heartache and misery caused by the weather or by circumstance, whatever the cause i send my love, prayers and hugs out to you to let you know that you are thought about.

  96. Evening Sue
Hope you have had a lovely Boxing Day. Love this beautiful card. I have the square corner dies and they are so versatile. The colour combination is a lovely soft one and all in all the card is just lovely x
Busy day with friends coming round this evening. Jake did all the cooking which was lovely. Had a bit of a disaster on Christmas Eve - my oven broke. I put some bread rolls in the oven and after only 4 minutes there was smoke filling the kitchen and I could have built a wall with the black bricks that I took out of the oven. Not brilliant timing for the thermostat to go on the oven - the day before having to cook an extremely large 5.650kg rib of beef and a mountain of roast potatoes and Yorkshires. Thank heavens for lovely neighbours who are going away early Christmas morning and let you use their oven and spare key. So it was a little tiring to keep going next door but dinner was really delicious.
Jake suggested rib of beef instead of Turkey and knowing how pricey it is I was delighted when he said he would pay for it. We have still got so much of it left it will feed us until 2016!! He paid £53 for this joint and all I kept thinking was just how many Sue Wilson dies I could buy with £53.
When Jake said he would do the cooking today I was over the moon but he had forgotten that he would have to use the oven next door. By the time he had realised it was too late and he had to honour his promise. He does a wicked Ham which he boils in coca cola then glazes with black treacle, mustard powder and brown sugar. I sometimes enjoy my boxing day dinner more than Christmas dinner and today was definitely one of those occasions as I didn't have to lift a finger - always a good thing.
The proceedings almost turned hostile when a row almost began. My MIL kept commenting that thank goodness it was all over for another year which we didn't really take any notice of. However she then went on to say that not to worry she probably wouldn't be here next Christmas. With that my sis in law lost it and told her to stop being so miserable. Anyway after that she didn't make any morbid/miserable comments and all was well.
Quiet pj day planned for tomorrow with no invited guests but that means nothing as we always have people popping in - they keep coming back even though I get them to make their own cuppa as well as one for everyone else.
TRACY - I am jealous of your shopping trip to the craft shop. I am waiting for Sue's appearance on Hochander on 1st January - Father Christmas has insisted that I spend my money on Sue's dies and I would not like to argue with the man x
LAINE - where are you my friend??
Sending love and festive wishes to you all and God willing I'll be back tomorrow.
