Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi there my crafty friends!  Thanks so much for the wonderful comments for the die launch this past week, so glad to hear that you liked them!  Back on our usual schedule now, but I have a bit of an extra for you today.  I have two versions of this card and I will be giving them both away.  So leave a comment on this blog post for the chance to win one of the versions of these cards.    I started by letterpressing the background and that is the only difference between these.  On one version I inked one side of the embossing folder and on the other version, I inked the opposite side of the folder.  It is sort of nice to be able to comp-are and contrast the differences though I think.  I used the Let It Snow embossing folder and inked it with Cloudy Blue Adirondack pigment ink.  I inserted coconut white card into the folder and ran it through the Grand Calibur to transfer the ink to the card.  For the centre section, I cut the Snowflake mini Striplet out of white card and backed it with a sticky adhesive sheets.  I coated the front with Diamond Sprinkles to fill in all the exposed adhesive areas, then matted it with white and blue card, raising it with foam for dimension.  For the focal element, I letterpressed the Debossed snowflake die using Cloudy blue ink as well.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the snowflake tag and attached it across the die cut in the centre of the card.  Finally I finished with my usual mats and layers but added a frame of white PVA glue dots all the way around.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Which version do you prefer?  The winners will be announced on Saturday's blog post.

Julia Watts has more shows on Hochanda today.  Be sure to tune in at 9am, 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm to see all her great demos!   All for now, Sue x

  29. Good Morning Sue, an absolute stunner of a Christmas card! I also love the letter pressing technique, and you gave an invaluable tip to use pigment ink, as I have tried this technique in the past with other inks, which didn't transfer the ink completely, and bits were missing.
I have to say my favourite card out of the 2 you made is the one with white snowflakes and the cloudy blue background. Best Wishes, Linda in Glasgow

  30. Hi Sue,
You're just spoiling us now! Two exquisite cards, both equally stunning in my book. Would love to win either one of them. I too, have used the snowflake border quite a lot this year. Went a bit mad though and teamed with forest green (dark green) for a striking contrast, on a couple of them.

  35. Good morning Sue,

Now this is what I call a proper winter card, lovely snowflakes everywhere. Both versions are stupendous, hard to pick a favourite.

I do hope you are getting a bit of R&R following your new die launch. Many thanks for showing us yet more of your imagination, tips and techniques.

Sorry I have not commented much this week, was laid low after part eating a pie whose pastry must have had an egg wash on. I am allergic to egg products so have been extremely sick for a couple of days. I always make sure that what I eat does not contain them and somehow I missed this one.

Warm thoughts and healing prayers to Melody, Francis (so pleased to hear he is back home)& Tracy (try to focus on your strengths whilst undergoing the chemo).

Gurt big comfort blanket (((((hugs))))) to all in discomfort, pain or loss.

  133. Hi Sue
Thank you for showing the two different looks you can achieve from the same embossing folder, love the card. Received my noble rectangles B and the interlocking circles mini striplet yesterday so can't wait to try them out, lots of others that I'd like but will have to concentrate on Christmas first

    Hugs and best wishes everyone

  134. Hi Sue
I think I like the second version of this card the best. Somehow the blue appears more pronounced and the whole card seems much warmer. This could be just the lighting making the difference.

  135. Hi Sue,
Oh my days, what a beautiful pair of cards! I think they are both wonderful but the second one has just won for me as I love the pal blue on the background. How generous of you to give both versions away today, two people are going to be very, very happy to receive these.

  137. Good morning Sue, gorgeous cards today, I like the letter press technique but haven't been too successful with my attempts, maybe it was the choice of ink as you suggest. Out of your two cards I think the second just edges it for me. Wishing you and all your followers well, hugs, Theresa x

  140. Good morning Sue,
Love today's card, I prefer the second card with the blue on the surface rather than in the recessed snowflakes, both are stunning, so pretty,
Giving that 'cold and frosty' feel to the cards.
I am probably one if the few that hasn't decided on a Christmas card theme yet, I need to get my thinking cap on, I had decided I quite like the blue and white theme, I made a 'periwinkle' blue and white shaker card a couple of weeks ago on my blog and loved the colour combination for Christmas cards so I may well go for that.
The strong winds seemed to have died down a little today thankfully, I hope that all of you stayed safe and nobody suffered any damage!
    Have a good day everyone,
    Hugs

  145. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes from a wet and windy Ochil Hills,
Oh Sue i love both cards but i actually think that i like the debossed snowflakes with their hint of the blue colour in them. It matches so nicely with the blue of the card that you have picked to mat and layer with. The embossed snowflake card is just as beautiful but i love how you have got just the hint of colour in the first design. I'm glad that you had a good response to your beautiful new collection as there isn't one die in the new lot that i don't need. You had ideas going around my head like nothing on earth when i uncovered each new set, but who knows my OH might just give me some money at Christmas so that i can treat myself to much needed dies( and if you could see my place you would understand why i have not a cats chance of getting it). Oh well a girl can dream but i will get those dreams to become a reality some time. I hope you are recovering from your marathon postings and the making up of all your cards that you made to show of the dies. It must be really hard to decide upon which card you have made, as i presume there is more than one, to show each die set of to its full advantage and so that we can see what is possible with them as they some of them you don't get the full picture until you see them made up. Thank you Sue for all your hard work,
    love and crafty hugs

  147. Morning all.
Sue, you are such a star. I love both of today's cards, just right up my street and yes like so many others the second just edges it for me too :)
Melody and Molly so glad to hear Francis/Grandad is home. I wish him all the best on his mission to build himself up.
Tracey, I am glad you got your treatment and that once the line is in it will be easier next time. I hope the after effects are not too awful.
Laine, I love your posts. I hope you are starting to feel better.
Last night I went to a craft group and we made Christmas wreaths. Why do I never stick to what I plan ? So I am not happy with it because it's not how I pictured it.
Oh well, I still need to put a bow on it so it will be different again. Something else I have been working on is not going as hoped so think that will end up in the bin.
I really need to create something I am happy with to help my mood.
Going to find my pad so I can keep track of posts on here, my brain cells don't work together!
Wishing good things to all xxx

  165. They are both beautiful cards, Sue, I think the second one is my fave, but not quite sure why. Anyway, I love both, all except the sentiment - no snow here please, at least until after Christmas. Ireland is not equipped to deal with much snow, and the last time it was bad, I was marooned in my house for 11 days because two hills weren't gritted to allow me to get my car to the top of them. Ruined our Christmas lunch, we had it on 11th January instead, and it wasnt quite the same!

I know everyone would like to own a 'Sue Wilson' signed original, so I will wish everyone good luck in the draw.

Still, I'm getting better slowly, although my Mum is still poorly!I love the card you've done today, Sue, it looks really crisp & Wintry! Hi Sue
Your snowflake die, embossing folder and wording are so unique! They make the most wonderful card together. Love how you showed the embossing folder using both sides. My preference is the pushed up side up, but both are great. This one is in definite competition with your other delicate snowflake embossing folder.
