Thanks

Hi bloggers!  Every once in awhile I just have to unleash my inner grunge and allow it to go free.  Today's card was just such an adventure.  I know it may not appeal to everyone, but it came out with a soft shabby chic feel to it in real life and I was just so pleased with it.  Did a little happy dance in fact! LOL  Give it a chance as I think it will grow on you!  I started by covering a piece of milk card with some picket fence, tea dye and Tattered Rose ink in the form of a wash.  I cut the piece into three sections and distressed the edges and mounted them on foam.  Next I glued a piece of cheesecloth (from the hardware store) on to the background.  I flicked a white paint pen at it to add more distress.  I stamped the Shaded Peony on some card from my stash (a sort of strawberry colour and cut them out and created several different sized flowers.  I spritzed them with water and crumpled them a bit too.  The Dandelion Clocks were used for the flower centre.  I cut several of the stemmed Dandelion clocks in different colours and arranged them around my flowers with some Maidenhair Fern bits added too.  Finally I cut the Vertical Thanks in milk card and backed the letters with Taupe card, added mounting foam and mounted it to the right side of the card with another flower.  I finished off with my mats and layers of milk card and taupe card, but distressed the edges of all of them.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.  Has it grown on you yet? LOL  All for now, Sue x

    Morning Sue

Today's gift is certainly one that I have to look at for a few more times yet before I can make my mind up. It certainly is way out of my box but it's what we need sometimes to make us stop and think.
Despite all that I do appreciate your format and your brilliant use of your dies.

We have a damp start to the day here but the sun has just shown his face so perhaps he'll stay around. At least the temps are at a level where I can craft without damp hands spoiling everything.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  24. Hi Sue.
Is this REALLY a Sue Wilson card ? You little devil you. Not only have you let the grunge in you fly free, you also did a cheeky little happy dance (wow, SW twirking) bet we wont see that on YouTube OR the new craft channel - go on Sue, dare ya : )
Im giving it a chance, and im sure that within the hour I will love it, I already love the floral focal element its just the background I need to get use to as it really is so unusual for you to go so uncaringly wild lol. Its a bit like Banksy going from weird to pretty floral graffiti with added butterflies over night lol.
Whatever your naughty, cheeky, twirking plans are for the day Sue, enjoy and go for it lol.
Sending love n hugs to you Sue and my dear friends that mean so much to me, this sentiment goes out to you xx

This card works so beautifully with the colours and textures you have created here, those flowers are wonderful and I hope you let the grunge out more often in the future.

  138. Hi Sue, Sorry that I didn't leave any comments over the weekend but had visitors AGAIN and whilst I was able to have a sneak peek at your cards I didn't get time to blog but they were both lovely as usual. WOW Your grunge card is something else. I love it. Now if I had flicked paint/scrunched up my flowers after soaking them to death, the whole lot would most probably have ended up in the bin. However, can't is only can with a 't' on the end so will try, try again. Hugs xx PAuline A

  144. I love your card. I'm such a clean and crisp card person, but recently I've been trying some mixed media which is so not me. However, I have to say it's been fun. I wanted to think outside the box and try something different. The biggest obstacle has been getting used to my hands and work space being messy...OCD here, too. LOL Anyway, I love your creation and the colors are so pretty. So happy I found your blog. TFS with us. Jan D., Florida, USA

Love the cheese cloth background, the peony's are
stunning, need to get the stamp for them. The colour
on the screen is more wine red/ brown, I like it !

Sending love and hugs to all Wilsonette's and my
true friends. Hope your day is ok!
Have seen the doc.this morning, a few thorns still in my throat so

  157. I love grunge! Of course, I love bling also. :)
This is an absolutely beautiful card design. I think you should do more of them, by the way. :)
I am amazed by how different all your designs can appear; and you don't use very much, if any, patterned paper. Wow! Loving that! Then I wouldn't need to have piles of the stuff, just plain card stock! That will make me pause & think for awhile.

  158. Hi Sue

Love it, love it, love it!!! Inclined to agree with Alison's description that it is "elegant grunge". Not pastel enough for shabby chic IMO! I love the background & the different way you've done flowers. I need some (more) flower dies so I may as well get some with matching stamps as it's something I've not had before. I think the whole card is stunning & although I love your usual cards I'm hoping for a few more "Sue Wilson Elegant Grunge" cards!

Miserable day outside today. Weather warnings for flash floods, fingers crossed that no one is affected.

Ok, I'm off to try and liven myself up & do something (as yet undefined). Have a lovely day (despite the rain) Hugs to everyone, especially to those who are ill, having treatment, in any kind of pain or who just need an extra hug!

    Happy crafting,

  161. Good afternoon lovely Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes!

Well, how much do I adore this card? I simply cannot be summarised in a single paragraph! I love it when you let yourself go and produce a true work of art that is shabby chic in all of its glory. I only wish that you would do it more often because you are at least as good, if not better, than Tim Holtz himself! Could you please do some demos on YouTube of the techniques you have used because tearing and distressing card doesn't come naturally to me and I would like to see a master at work. I would love to do something similar on my heritage scrapbook album. It would have been so great if this had been the weekly card giveaway because it would be simply stunning mounted and framed.....on my craftroom wall!;-) please do more Sue, everyone appears to love it.
I had some good news today, I won a beautiful card using the weaving dies on Johns blog-I am so excited because they are my favourite dies by far at the moment but I have been unable to buy them due to prioritising the Christmas collection. Now I just need to win one of Sues to have the complete set...hint, hint! I will be getting it mounted and framed as soon as I receive it.
I do hope that the upcoming shows feature the weaving dies and the more recent additions to the finishing touches collection. C&C don't always have a great selection anymore so having a rival will encourage positive competition I think!
I am planning to create a box for my brothers girlfriends birthday on Saturday- I haven't made one in years and I'm hoping I don't make a pigs ear of it with my decorations...I never can do plain and simple:-)
I do hope all of my friends, including Yvonne, Beth, Maria and Wheely Bad are ok and not suffering at the minute.xxx
Special mention to Molly, your words of encouragement and advice to Beth yesterday were so heart warming and thoughtful. You are wise beyond your years sweetie, and a true credit to your family- hope Grandad can manage to keep his strength up even if it's only toast it's something positive in the right directionxxxx
Hope everyone is having a lovely start to this exciting week-not long before Sue is back with us again, yippee!

    Love and crafty hugs,

    Laine1972xxxxxx

I don't know whether it is grunge or shabby chic as I don't really understand the difference but what I do know is it's something very special and I love it.
