Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello my crafty friends!  Today's card is a revamp of a card that I did several years ago for my Mom for Mother's Day, at least in styling and colour.  I have updated it with different dies and embellishments.  I love the way it came out even more than the original!  I started with the Canadian Background and cut it out of coconut white card.  I raised it with foam for dimension and mounted it over another piece of white card that I covered with Iced Snow for a bit of bling.  I used the Pavo Gemini die and cut the decorative piece with both cutting edges out of white card.  I cut a matching backing out of custard card and glued the pieces together.  I added it to the left hand side of the card with foam and added a double row of white flatback pearls to the edge.  Next I cut the backing for the sentiment using the Vancouver die set out of custard card.  I backed it in white.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the Montreal die set.  I mounted it in the upper corner of the card.  Using both sets of the Perfect Peonies, I created a variety of different sized two tone flowers and arranged the in the lower right corner.  I added Mosaic Leaves in white as embellishments.  The card was then completed with a paper pierced white mat, a thin custard mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this one, just leave me a comment.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  42. Hi Sue and lovely Wilsonettes

You have chosen the perfect colours for this little beauty Sue, usually I look at your daily card and I can visualise it in certain other particular colours, but not with this one because all I can see is the perfect custard colour.

Although this card is a real stunner, anyone would be proud to win a Sue Wilson card and this one even more so, at least your lovely Mum proudly owns the original SW, and this is the original revised.

I love everything about this card and the unique SW way that you have combined so many styles of cutting dies to bring them together as one dramatic and eye-catching masterpiece. The bling (when you look up close) shows through the background with the Pavo and Peonies being delicately placed and perfectly framed. The sentiment is very apt also Sue because every day that you bring us these perfect gems to admire and aspire to you are helping us to realise our own potential...and for this reason why I say that you have reason to celebrate every day...your generosity and amazing talent.

LITTLELAMB...I'm so sorry to hear that your Aunt has passed away...please accept these (((((Hugs))))) to show how much we all care and hope that each day is a little easier for you and the happier memories return...x x x

Take care Sue and Hugs to you and lovely Wilsonette friends x x x Love Beth B x x x

  67. Morning Sue. Welcome home.
Another work of art for a very lucky Wilsonette somewhere. The Canadian background was a gift from my lovely husband last month for our anniversary and due to life taking over it's still in the packet ! I cant believe I waited for a couple of weeks knowing it was stashed in his wardrobe, my finger's twitching to use it and its not seen light of day !! What with my mojo being low over the past few weeks, having to take more time out of my 'den' than I like, and cant remember the last time I made a card, so I really must get back into action as soon as poss and get this beautiful die out of the dark and onto a beautiful peice of blush card !
To all you lucky ladies off to see Sue's demo's tomorrow habe the most wonderful time there.
Sending love n hugs to you Sue, stay cool (betcha missing the air con) !

The soft banana is a delightful shade of yellow and one I shall be looking out for when next shopping for cardstock.

Well after yesterday's stonking hot day, too hot to venture outside and when I did, I was soaked after a few minutes, it is pleasantly raining now, giving our wonderful earth much needed moisture. There are very few gaps in the clouds coming from the south but over in the west, plenty hints of blue clear skies. Another day to celebrate being alive.

  129. Good morning Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes,

Wow, this card literally took my breath away, as I am sure it did your dear Mums. I Adore everything about it from the rich custard tones to the peony accents, the Pavo Gemini die to the star of the show for me , the Canadian background die-this is top of my must have list, it is simply stunning and really elevates any card it is used upon. Some may find it too fussy but I would disagree, you can never have too much of a good thing-this design and colour scheme would work fabulously well framed in my craft room above my desk for inspiration...hint, hint!:-)
I wonder if your Mum has a wall with all of your works of art framed upon, I know I would! I really wish I could be at your demo tomorrow but Stirling is a little too far to commute I'm afraid-hope you all have a lovely day though lucky ladies.
Well, the sun has finally arrived in Stirling, and not before time. I have had a long night because my little princess, Darcey, refused to come in to bed last night and didn't arrive home until 5am this morning-I worry that something bad will happen to her since her brothers were knocked down and killed in separate accidents during the night. Such is life with animals that we love dearly though, they are definitely worth the worry and sleepless nights.
LittleLamb-I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I do hope that you will, in time, be able to focus on all the good memories you have through the pain.xxxx
Enjoy the weather wherever you may be.

    Love and crafty hugs,

    Laine1972xxxxxx

well I agree with everyone else that the Canadian background die is a must have.
I love all the parts of your card and the custard card is ...dare I say it?...yummy!!

Off to craft group this afternoon then back to watch some tennis...I couldn't sit there, never mind play in that heat. My house is lovely and cool indoors as we have an old house with very thick walls. Very windy here in my part of the Yorkshire Dales so better for walking and climbing Ingleborough (our mountain!) one of the Three Peaks.

Sun screen and lots of drinks girls.
    Take care all.

  165. Hi Sue & All The Wilsonettes!
I hope you are all well & enjoying this GORGEOUS weather we are having? It is a beautiful day here in Rosemarket but, at lunchtime, the weather forecast is threatening thunderstorms for Sunday!
I am SO sorry I've not been on here for a while but I've been really poorly, for a few weeks with a nasty urine infection & a REALLY NASTY cold (which I could do without!)! I have to go to the hospital, for a pre-op on Tuesday, then I hope it won't be too long before I go back to have an operation to remove MORE bladder stones! I have had them twice, now & the consultant is beginning to think that I am one of the unlucky people whose bodies produces bladder stones! ARGH!
I have also been busy (when I've not been in pain!) playing with some of the new Christmas Collection dies that I bought, last week & have made some really lovely cards with them! I have also had to make some general cards for a friend, who has a stall at a fete in the residential home where he lives, so that has also kept me busy!
Your card today, Sue, is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I LOVE the fresh, summery colours & the design is SO different! I would love to be in with a chance of winning something like this!
As it is such a lovely day today, my Mum has said that we can go to a local farm & pick some strawberries (unfortunately, as I am wheelchair bound, I will have sit in the car & watch!), so I am looking forward to that!
I hope that all who are going through an illness, or family upsets, will be feeling stronger, VERY soon!
    With Love & Best Wishes,
    From, Mary Blight XXX

  167. Good afternoon Sue and my lovely Wilsonettes,
I have most of your Gemini dies Sue because they are just so versatile and make some of the most beautiful cards and todays is no exception. The Canadian background that you have designed is still i think the best one yet for male cards as it is still pretty but it that the geometric look to it that go through male heads better and they don't think that they have been given in their words "a wumins card". I love how todays card apart from the pearls is all handmade out of card but looks totally exquisite. Are you slowly recovering from your launch over the weekend there? I do hope so and i so wish that i could come down to see you tomorrow at your demo again. Seeing you last year in Glasgow was so wonderful and to meet you in real life and be exactly what you get on the television was jsut fantastic. Have a great day with all our Wilsonettes that are so lucky to be able to come and see you at your best and yes i am so jealous of them lucky lucky girls but maybe again you will come back and see us up in Scotland. I hope that it wasn't to keep away from the Scottish tablet and all our goodies that you're not coming this year.
Brenda(LittleLamb) i am so sorry to read that you have lost your beloved aunt flower. Your friends are all here to give you a hoist up if you want it or need it or even just here to listen as we are quite good at that amongst us. Sending hugs your way for just when you need them most.
Oh Mary flower, you are going through the mill at the moment. I hope that the worst is now pass and that you get the ok for your op. Having suffered from Kidney stones i can only imagine what you are going through but do they not laser treat them now to blast them into tiny bits? Can you not go out in your chair even though you can't strawberry pick, but just to be out in the lovely fresh air and the peace and quiet that you get out at the fields is wonderful and i hope that it lifts your spirits a bit as well. It's lovely to see old fashioned things still being done in the summer that's if it is nice. Fresh picked strawberries and ice cream, mmmhh mh, delicious. What ever you get the chance to do have a lovely time with your mum and enjoy yourselves. Do you try as you go along just to make sure they are fit for eating? as that's the best part of strawberry picking. Have fun flower.
Well girls it has been a warm day here at Glenochil today and the sun has decided to show its little face now and again but there is a gentle breeze that is just lovely so that you can enjoy the day which i hope all of you are. Sending hugs to all my Wilsoentte Angels that could do with them both on blog and not at the moment. I am hoping that our friends that need a wee bit of a hug are back with us again soon.
    Love and crafty hugs
