You're Amazing

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's card uses my Peek a boo technique for the focal element.  I started by creating some interest on the background by stamping it with the Spiral Sunset stamp to die for.  I used a clear Perfect Medium pad and then heat embossed it with silver shine detail powder for a tone on tone look.  Next I used the two tone satin ribbon and plaited it to create a border on the bottom of the card.  There is a tutorial on this technique at the top of my blog as well as a You tube video if you would like to see it done.  I added a matching bow out of the thinner version of the same ribbon.  A black crystal sparkler was added to the centre of the bow as an embellishment.  For the focal element, I stamped the Spiral Sunset stamp to die for on to a piece of coconut white card and heat embossed it in silver.  I cut it out with the Santorini die and used the inner decorative piece with it as well.  This cut through areas of the stamp design (as it is designed to fit only the outline die).  I stamped the same stamp on to black card again and heat embossed it with silver as well.  I lined it up under the white one so that the pattern was complete and glued it into place, then used just the outline die to cut it even with the first one.  This creates a sort of peek a boo effect through the first die cut, but you see the entire pattern because it is completed on the second die cut.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the oval in the St. Lucia die set.  I created a black faux nestie for it by outlining and hand cutting the same die.  The card was finished with a pierced mat, a thin silver and black mat and a wider white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x  8" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Chris Arnall!!!
Jess Watson!!!
Sandy Acland!!!

From the extra qualifying post of Wed. June 10th, the winners are:

Lynda Mellor!!!
Patricia Duffy!!!
Hetty Garlick!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Well folks...did I say that I was going to be doing gardening over this weekend...wish I had done as it would have been less tiring...I think...well it rained all day & I kid you not when I say I did not even have the chance to sneak into my craft room & make some cards.

Because hubby said (on his one day off)as it is raining we'll go shopping, (does he not realise that rainy days are for card making not for gallivanting outside...lol...)anyways got back some hours later I put shopping away...phew...went out again to go garden shopping to 3 different garden centres...now I'm hungry, wet & drained but hubby is keen to get on...then we prepare our dogs for the vets...Hannah for check up & Booster & Lauren(who is 12 & 3/4)was to have a thorough senior check up and blood tests (done yearly since age of ten)vet will phone back with the results today so bit on edge of seat today...

Then I sat down for all of 2 minutes and crashed out to sleep. Apparently hubby did the same although I don't think he wants to admit it but he woke me up because he was hungry...Lordy Lordy a hubby who cant cook...ahhhh I love him really....

Anyways dry today so gotta make up for lost time in garden...take care to one and all & wishing yourself Sue, your family and Wilsonettes (especially to Sandra R; Lynda B; Brenda H; Cheryl B & Maria A) a good day...& as always sending hugs and smiles to you all...love Beth B x x x

    Morning Sue
It's lovely to see your ribbon plait again. It's ages since you used it and it makes such a beautiful statement on your gift. I love your focal point and you have certainly made your gorgeous dies work for you today.
All in all you have given us one very elegant and beautiful gift and I have fallen in love with it.

Chaos is reigning in this house at the moment as it's last day for packing and making sure everything is OK before tomorrow. Friday and yesterday were just manic as the chemist caused some real problems and heartache with my prescriptions so I'm hoping everything goes OK today.

Congratulations to all the very lucky winners this week. I know you will enjoy Sue's generosity so please stay and help her back to the top of the craft listings. For me Sue is always at the very top and I know she is for many others but the official listings do not play fair so we need your help.

It's going to be a couple of days before I see you all again so for all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. For everyone please take care and stay safe.

  111. Good morning Sue,

From a damp and dreary Stirling and hoping that 3 days last week isn't the total extent of our summer:-)
It won't be long before you grace our screens again and I am super excited at the prospect-we have so missed your cheery, good natured, humble demeanour and I can't wait to see what delights you have in store for us.
Today's card is truly stunning. The techniques used have taken a couple of readings to get the gist of, it being Sunday morning and the brain is slow to kick start. I love the braided ribbon, I will definitely be watching the demo later to refresh my memory of the technique. Where do you get your superb ideas from is a mystery to me but I am so grateful that you take the time to share your talents with us all.
Congrats to the comment winners, I am sure you love your prizes as much as I did a few weeks ago- Sues generosity knows no bounds!
    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

I love how you have silver embossed the Spiral Sunshine to die for stamp (in my opinion all your stamps and dies are to die for!) first on white and then on black card. Also a lovely surprise of the plaited ribbon! It's been a few years since I've done that technique, so "thank you" for the video! Plus the sentiment! Can't believe I miss putting that about them! Lol! Congratulations to all you lucky comment winners! you will love your prize! To Ecco, I hope the chemist has sorted out your prescriptions for you. When it comes to the medicine that you need and have to take always, it's quite a scary moment! Love and hugs to Cully, get well soon! Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your family and to all the Wilsonettes who are need xx Take care everyone xx Love Karen xx

  151. Hi Sue

Stunning, stunning, stunning. I love this and sure there are plenty of variations on the theme I could experiment with (maybe should be 'when' I get to experiment!) The braid is just beautiful and I might pinch that one for decorating sewing projects! I love monochrome and the hint of silver and sparkle make it really really special.

Lynne, sorry Cully is not well, Billy sends wags, licks and paw hugs to her xxx

Think about today's grey skys brought my sleepy head back with a vengeance! Billy and I have had a very very lazy day!

Wishing Sue and Wilsonettes everywhere a peaceful evening and an upcoming happy, healthy, crafty week, hugs to all of you with plenty spare if they're needed
