Thinking Of You

Hi bloggers!  Today's card features the beautiful Canadian Background as well as several other dies from other collections.  I started with the background and cut it out of milk card.  I used the inside shape from the Sintra die to cut an aperture in the centre of the background.  I cut the same opening in the centre of a piece of sky blue card, then arranged my background to line up with it and trimmed the outside edges even.  I used the inside dies from the three Portuguese dies, Lisbon, Sintra and Porto, to cut a blue frame and edge it with a slightly smaller version cut out of milk card.   I added mounting foam to the frame and added it to the opening in my background.  I stamped my sentiment from the Phill Martin set called Decadent Damask Occasions Sentiments.  I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet, then coated it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I cut two of the Elegant Lace Edgers and glued them to the inside edges of the frame and then seated it over my sentiment.  I cut two of the Foldover Flowers in blue and cream felt and seated the flowers with tulle, Mosaic Leaves and Splendid Swirls.  The background was adorned with 3mm cream pearls in the centres of all the floral sections.  I finished the card with a milk pierced mat, a sky blue mat and a wider milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4"  x  8 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  15. Morning Sue. WOW This is another stunning card. Love the canadian background die, you don't have to do anything with it to make a beautiful card or you can dress it up just like you have with this one for a more elegant creation. The foldover flower's are just beautiful and i just can't stop making them in different colour's.
Take care everyone and have a lovely day.

Ive not yet played with them but will hopefully soon, its such a beautiful die. I had a good outcome with the sparkle texture paste, its such a delicate lilac. So if you dont think its something you can do, just remember - if this muppet is capable of grouting through a mask, anyone can do it lol.

  72. Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This card looks like it is from a country like India, Turkey or Marrakesh because of the back ground die. Buildings in these sort of countries seem to have this type of concrete bricks made into the design of the building. It is a different type of card today for my brain processing as it is stuck in the images of the far off countries and hasn't come back yet. I do like the colour you have used today with the touch of blue showing through the milk card. It's funny how you can spot a Phil Martin sentiment at 100 paces in his precise style and the pompom dahlia's dies are the next need die as every time i see them made into felt flowers i just think how lovely they are and uniformed in style. Thank you Sue for another lovely card that could so quite easily be for the problem people.
They have sent Kirsten home from hospital(2days after a c section with complications) with the baby and both are doing fine. Harry's grumpa sorry grampa (although i still think i was right the first time)finally went to see our daughter and grandson, but still had to come back moaning about her fiance parents. Why? lord alone knows as they are only trying to be helpful by doing things for her and their son and it is their first grandchild as well so of course they want to see him whenever they can. He is the first great grandchild so Ryan's granny and grandad are fair excited and bouncing. His granny might have senile dementia but she can still go back to when she had her children. This wee lad has given 2 auld folk in particular a new lease of life which is wonderful to see.
Well now that i have twittered on and on i will go and leave you all with hugs for all my Wilsonette friends that need them,
    Love and crafty hugs

  97. Hi Sue, I hope you don't mind but I have an update on Cully.

Bless her, as her tail wasn't getting any better on the antibiotics so we took her back to our vets, luckily we saw Sue ( must be something to do with that name) who is an absolute angel, she checked her out from head to toe and listened whilst we explained Cully's symptoms. We are now trying a different medication and early signs are very encouraging. Cully hasn't tried to bite her tail and looks much brighter. She even chased Tilly around this morning.

I am keeping everything crossed still ( making it very difficult to walk hehe) that Cully is indeed on the mend. To say hubby and I have been concerned is a vast understatement, it has been very hard to watch Cully as she has suffered.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the comments of good wishes and love to Cully from my crafty buddies here on the bestest blog ever.

  113. Hi Sue,
I love the card but I have missed something somewhere as I don't know about fold-over flowers - or is it just a memory lapse again!! The felt flowers look lovely and I can imaging stroking them they look so soft and fluffy. Afraid if I made a card with them it wouldn't be going anywhere except to someone at least 3 x extra special.

Janet you lucky lady, perhaps Sue could make us a card in Green as we are all so envious of you having sunshine to sit out in. I'd be happy at home with some sun, not asking too much am I?
So Pleased to hear Kirsten is home but tell her to make the most of all the help being offered so she can rest and recover. Harry sounds wonderful and a baby can help in so many ways.
Lynne - I am pleased that Cully is feeling a little better, she will soon be up to all her mischief again, you know helping digging in your garden, rearranging shoes and slippers and more.
Shouldn't have to say this in June but keep warm and well everyone.
    Love and hugs to all

  117. Good morning Sue,

The Canadian background is by far my favourite die at the moment, it is simply stunning and so effective. It doesn't necessarily need a lot of embellishments but I love your recessed sentiment idea and the Pom Pom flowers are Devine. I don't have any of these dies as yet and I have my fingers crossed that they will feature in your next shows which cannot come soon enough for me!
Yippee! I can have a craft day today- I've had a manic week thus far with hospital, doctors and dentist appointments so it is nice to have some me time to catch up in my craft room. The weather is predictably dire, no tan this year methinks!, so I have no reason not to devote my spare time to playing with your dies and catching up on your demos......housework can wait!
I am a bit torn with Andy M in the tennis though, he's a local boy and I like to follow his progress so I guess I'll have to multi task this afternoon-being a female that should be no problem!:-)

    Love and crafty hugs,

  132. Hi Sue
Just caught up with yesterday's video - as usual, much enjoyed and thank you. Loved the bows/pins/flowers. And your top. All just lovely. Really like those colours together, both card and top!!
Today's card - well - how long can one live without the Canadian background? It's a really special die and of course am very tempted.
Have read (and mostly absorbed!) all comments and will just say glad Cully is recovering and hope both birthday girls had a good day.
Anybody still looking for discontinued SB Grand Squares - google Presscut. Similar and lots in pack. Great.

  134. Hello Sue, and all the ladies.
This reminds me so much of a Moorish Palace, and the type of screen which the women could look through, but not be seen. It's beautiful. I must get that flower die next!!!
Lynne M, I'm pleased that Cully seems to be a bit brighter.
Pam, enjoy your twin grandsons sleep over.
'P' in Wales, thanks for the thumbs up on the Grand Squares, will go there next!!

  137. Hi Sue,
I started to do this earlier and was called away! Not far!!
I love today's card but then I love the Canadian background die. It's so easy to cut into smaller pieces too. I used the smaller die to go around the panels on a box!
Love the blue peeping through, very pretty.
Norah - pleased Kirsten and baby are home. Try not to do too much! x
Janet - hope the pastries were good today!
    Love to everyone,

  139. Hi Sue,
I've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms having been house/dog/cat sitting for my sister while she's been off house viewing and I didn't manage to win the battle over her broadband, so I've missed this weeks postings :(. I'm back in time to see a wonderful card though. I do love the Canadian background, there seems to be so much you manage to do with it. My dad was Canadian so I find myself leaning towards the entire collection lol.
As always, thanks so much for sharing with us. x

  144. Hi Sue, a gorgeous card using my current favourite background die. I love this die, you can do so much with it. I was given a sneaky peek at your new 'C word' dies this morning and have already fallen in love with several of them. Looking forward to the blog launch and seeing what you have created with them.

Lynne - glad the new medication seems to be helping Cully, fingers crossed it works.

Norah - Kirsten must be doing well for the hospital to have let her go home. If the in-laws want to help thereby giving her time to rest then I don't see a problem.

Had to drop another line as the cats out of the bag and have had to pre-order some of the new range for Christmas. Won't say too much, but wanted them all but had to be realistic. Will say love the new santa and sleigh!!! Are you planning a C&C show any time soon?

Love it, Canadian background is high on the list, so pretty. I love how the dies have cut in to the background too. Something I will try soon as I can.

Lynne, glad Cully has has a turn for the better, Billy sends paw hugs, wags and woofs to her for a speedy get well soon xxx

Norah, it's lovely that baby Harry has been a tonic to his great grand parents. I hope Kirsten is recovering well xxx

Sorry I've been AWOL, have spent all week feeling exhausted, ended up at the dentist yesterday with an bad infection under one tooth. Was given antibiotics and will lose the tooth in a couple of weeks as the infection destroyed the last bit of bone holding it in. First tooth apart from wisdom teeth that I'll lose, annoying as tooth is healthy. My biggest problem is how uncomfortable the dentist chair is and that in 2 weeks time I'll be in it for a very long time- a deep clean and extraction! Was asleep all last night and all today, perhaps this infection has made the tiredness worse and I'll perk up soon, fingers crossed for me please!

Hugs to you all, extra hugs if you need them
